personally I hate paying income taxes, so I have a CPA get me as much back as possible.

I think the best system would be to do away with income taxes and have a national sales tax. That way, even those with "tax free" income (under the table wages, illegal immigrants, drug dealers, etc.) would pay a federal/state tax. Sure, the sales tax rates would go up, but no income taxes??? Hell yeah.

Although I'm sure there are flaws in this system too, and some of you will point them out. Even if they are few, there are always those who will figure out a way around it (ebay, only buying used items maybe?). It seems like a good idea though.

What pissed me off was one year I decided to do side work from my house to earn extra money.

That little extra apparently put me into a different tax bracket and after TAXES I only gained about 1/4 of what all I worked for.

(Example if I made $2000 from side work, after taxes I only got to keep $500)

What kind of shit is that?
No wonder we have people sitting around drawing welfare refusing to work. Sometimes you get punished for working.

I can tell you this - our tax system is a sham. I am not saying we should not pay taxes but the current way it is structured is a complete and utter disaster.

It is set up exactly this way so congress can be in complete control. They get hit up by lobbyist who want this tax law and that tax law. The exercise power over corportations by threatening to to change this and that as well.

Give me a flat tax or give me a sales tax and take these powers away from these shits in DC. Just my opinion.

the health care system in the US is broken. period. I'm paying $800 @ month, single no kids. And thats only for an HMO plan. thats freaking crazy.

I was listening to the last presidential democratic debate and was shocked at what the most democrats (including Hillary) were talking about. They were proposing Universal Care, but its still not like in Canada and Europe, but its the same shit again, with a different name

i'm not an economist but i don't think the sales tax rev would even come close to income tax rev
not even close, think about all the salaries getting hit
plus everything we go up in cost, and that's never good
