what makes you think people who own guns are somehow afraid of something?
how do you define a 'personal arsenal'?
Not owning one gun, but a "helluva" lot. And especially assault guns with big ass ammo clips.
If I somehow felt the need for a personal weapon for protection, a simple glock or 38 would suffice. Going out and buying an M16 or whatever tells me (and my limited experience) that someone is really afraid of something.
Of course if your a hunter, I have no trouble seeing the need for a rifle or a shotgun. But you don't go moose hunting with "an UZI 9mm" (This last part should be read with an austrian accent btw

)
Why would you want an assault rifle in the first place? What's it for, excpet killing people?
if someone broke into your house, would you kill first and ask questions later (good luck with that btw)?
As I said, I have trouble understanding all of this right to own a gun, just for the sake of owning one, business. It might just be a difference in culture and personal views, but I'm really glad that I live in a country with gun control.
But I guess, whatever works for me, works for me. I guess the same applies to you. Happy shooting
