yah, when i was drinking heavily i still kept up my routine of 1 1/2-2 gal of water a day.

I have been doing that when I drink and it helps with the hangover as well...I always drink seagrams and diet coke and have a bottle of water also on hand.
 
Moderation and rehydrations is key if possible...

Sorta funny this topic is here, one of my bb'er friends is getting ready for a comp (actively starving) and we were joking with him that one of my partners and I actively participating in a study to negate the validity of this theory... The detrament of alcohol to fitness.

Still a work in progress, I've hypothesized that it has little or no effect but I'm a skinny /fat powerlifter. I'm mostly a beer drinker by the way but not as often as I used to be....

(BTW my partner is one of the best benchers in his federation and he's natty and does fine)

try drinking vodka and water. I use to drink it all the time and never get hung over. The water seemed to keep my hydrated and the vodka did what it was suppose to.. granted i would down a glass a water on it's own before bed
 
barcardi and diet, barcardi has no carbs. or absolute and sugar free redbull..water is good threw out the night aswell.
 
yes i pound waters throughout the night when im boozin. I never booze on nights that i have worked out. The way i see it, you repair/rebuild at night. You booze then go to bed. Alchol inhibits protein syn and the rest is history. You dont repair properly. I feel that the night of the workout is as important to growth as the workout itself. So according to my rules. drink the night after a workout or the night before a workout never the night of a workout.

i go and get biligarant once per week, or once every 2 weeks. It's fun and life has to have some balance. Vodka Soda is my drink of choice, 45cal's per drink. I find the biggest downside is my written off day following my gongshow night. And to those looking at the calore intake, it's not ususally the booze, it's that donair, or pizza outisde the club at 3am that you inhale casue you're loaded. OR for those casual drinkers is the plate of wings and the mountain of nacho's.......

10 beer = approx 1300cals
10 vodka sodas = 450cals
10 rye and cokes (killer) = 2500cals
2 slices of 3am pizza = 1200cals. easily.
 
eating after you drink is why people get fat imo.... most research suggests alcoholics consume less food and have lower body mass than non drinkers.... and i believe alcohol converts to acetate and your body uses acetate before glucose when its present....
