Been struggling with acne on my back for three years wile in Trt and cycle .... My e2 is in check .. And I have tried it all .. Dermatologist ... Soaps ... Scrubs .. Oils .. Dawn dish soap been reading for years to try to combat this ... Have not yet tried tanning . That's the next option .. It has slowed down a bunch over the years but scars are bad dark spots almost like hyper pigmentation ... It's the most frustrating thing out of all sides I have dealt with .. But have just learned to deal with it .. Would love tips or advice on how to get my skin clear before summer

Use a tanning bed mate. Used to get pretty bad acne on my back when I was a teenager. Dad went through the same thing and used one, clears it up. Two 5 minute sessions a week got me sorted. UV drys up spots and kill bacteria - just be responsible with it. 5 minutes is all you need, if you can go 10 minutes without burning then do that, but that depends on your skin type. I'd rather have acne than risk getting cancer.

Ima try that this week it's more so a bit of acne but the scars suck hope the tanning will help with the darker spots

Read a bunch in accut what are the sides? Has anyone used it's experienced any ill effects

No one seems to when they have a Dermatologist involved in the treatment. Most also seem to need two or three courses of it.

It's a controversial drug for sure. I think that stems from the fact that they (Dermatologist's) don't REALLY know what ALL it does, but they do know that it does shrink or shut down sebaceous glands. Birth defects in child bearing women? Obviously this stuff is much more powerful than simple Vitamin A and mediates it's effects on much more than your sebaceous glands. I think there are many conservative Dr's that would rather see you on Tetracycline or Minocycline for the rest of your life than put you on Accutane. That said, it's been around for a long time and the short terms sides experienced by 99% of the patients that use the drug seem to be dry lips, body aches and liver stress. If you're someone that has dealt with really bad Acne for years, Acne that hasn't responded to any other treatments, Acne that has had a negative affect on your self esteem, your work life and personal life etc. Accutane can be a miracle drug.

Yea it's bad but not affecting me like some ppl that have self image issues cuz of it

It's more of getting annoying now

Just started tanning last week notice my back clearing up a bit but my chest is breaking out now :/ never had chest issues

Anyone know if initial tanning causes a slight outbreak ? And or if it will subside

Tanning should probably help quickly or at least after a few sessions.

I've used accutane when I was around 20 (about 14 years ago) under the supervision of a dermatologist and it worked wonderfully, far better than anything else, and I tried basically everything. Had to get monthly blood work done though because it cause some liver / other problems so that would be something to consider if you plan on running any orals with it.

If you truly want to be rid of it then Accutane is really the only answer. Just make sure you do it right and under the supervision of a Dermatologist. I would also highly recommend running the course when your system is clean and not on any other medications. The usual treatment schedule for Accutane is for you to continue therapy until the Dr. no longer sees any breakouts. Once they put you on they want you on until your acne is completely obliterated. The only caveat being if you experience any serious side effects. Liver values way out of line etc. Best of luck to you....Acne really sucks.
