Do you think they will show the part where the Marine is dragged through the streets after being killed?

I hope so. Authenticity would be nice.

Are you sure it was a Marine?

That whole Somalia debacle was Bill Clinton's fault!! Clinton should have been tried as a traitor for what he did. The military asked for armored personel carriers for this mission. That request was denied! Whenever our brave warriors are on a mission, they should get everything they request and need! I think the soldier dragged through the streets was an army ranger. Somalia get ready, because you are next on the list!

It wasn't a Marine. Army Rangers and Delta Force (although composed of different services) were the only units used for that mission.

the body that was dragged through the streets and cut up was (i'm almost pos, but will check), a helo pilot of one of the downed blackhawks. i don't remember if robert durant was shown being dragged around, but he was the one you saw on tv all fucked up.

the blackhawks were part of soar (160th special operations aviation regiment-probably the best in the world)

task force ranger (the name of the group that regularly performed these snatches and was ambushed) consisted of a bunch of rangers, some delta operators, and a few seals and one or two air force pj's or cct's. i'm almost positive (we did this as a case study, and i will verify) that marines had no part in the seige.

nothing against marines. i am (88-92) one. they just weren't involved in that.

Marines were there. not in that case but we were there. Army came on board after we made camp. What a fucking waste of time. Same fuckers we were feeding were shooting at us at night. Some people just do not want help......

I've talked to a few guys that were there....they said the same damn thing.

This is common knowledge among military types, particularly Rangers.

After the helicopter was shot down, the ensuing battle was waged to attempt to extract the crew. It became such a mess because there were no US armored vehicles to get through the streets.

The US forces actually used Pakistani armor to complete the mission. I am not kidding. Go Pakistan.

Clinton and his administration were concerned about putting forth the wrong image by placing US armor in the country of Somalia.

18Echo...I think it was a dead pilot. I don;t think it was Durant. Task force 160: death waits in the dark.

Sadly no I have not. Ranger may have been....I hear it is a pretty unpleasant experience

I haven't got to go either...YET. I plan on going when I get back...(if my 1stSgt and CO will let me) I'm considering re-enlisting, and taking college courses online and such until I have enough credits to put in for an officer program. I may not like all the bullshit sometimes, but man I love the Corps and the people in the military...we are a different breed.

That's true as well. But I could have at least a bachelor's...maybe a masters or doctorate by the time I get out....I could retire when I'm 38 years old (20yrs service), then begin my career in the civilian sector. Just something I've been thinking about....

Big Buck,
Just a little advice if ya want it, I been in the Corps for 20 years, and it went by like a SHOT! Yes you can make more money as a civvie, but you got to make sure of one thing, WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY? If cash is the answer, then get out. If being a Marine makes you happy, stay in. One thing about the Corps, at least they play the same rules. I tell you what 20 years has flown by, and it has been the greatest time of my life. I have learned to love not only my country more, but also my family. My wife, kids and my Marines. I just dropped retirement papers, and will be out in Sept. Reason, I've asked my family to move cross country 5 times, and now that my kids are older, I want to do something for them. They have supported me in my endeavors, so I am going to support them. Give it a shot brother, Work on education, Hit the drill field or MSG and take FULL advantage of all opportunities. (Marine of the qrtr, Merit. promo boards, etc.) And keep this idea, it worked for me. Make the guy in charge of you unemployed. What I mean by that is if you are a Sgt, make sure you know, do, and complete your SSgt’s job, If SSgt, make the Co. GySgt unemployed, and so on. Semper Fidelis, and Godspeed in your choices in life my brother!

I plan on hitting the drill feild as soon as I pick up SSgt...or maybe when I'm in the below zone.

Just do while you are young, cause it will wear you down. 3 years of making Marines outta gen xer's will drive you to the brink!

My mistake. I assumed it was a Marine. Sorry about that.

But is there any links or pics on the internet about that? Any recorded footage or MP3 format about it?
