It's been my experience in DC that like people tend to stick to groups. For instance, the twinks hang out with twinks, bears hang out with bears, blacks hang out with blacks, and muscle studs hang out with muscle studs.
I know this sounds like a generalization, and in some respects it is. But if you are ever in DC, go to JRs on 17th street, and see if you can pick out a black guy. On the same token, head to Bachelors Mill in SE DC, and see if you can see a white guy.
I was at a rugby party one year, and all the big bearish guys were in their own group while everybody else mingled around them. That whole group pretty much stuck out like a sore thumb, because of their exclusions.
It ain't right, and they will deny it, but if you look close enough, you will see the group effect in this town.
