Most reviews have it as "better than expected".

Shady's at about $25M earned, so his failing appears unlikely.
 
So if it sucks so bad why are all the critiques saying it is so good. I heard a guy this morning, a stuffy white guy who writes for the LA Times say it was awesome and Eminem was great and held the movie together with his rage and pent up anger.

I have not seen it but I have heard a few clips and they were really bad. He acts like Marky Mark and that aint a good thing, the only good acting Marky Mark ever did was on Fear but it is not that hard to act angry and mean. It is much more hard to act like a regualr person doing regular things.

Oh on a side note anyone see that Madonna movie, shit that thing came and went all in 2 weeks. They said it was probably the worst movie since Ishtar.

Yea, it probably will be a big hit due to the people mentioned above.

I watched the movie last night and it sucks. It was definitely not worth the time it took to download it.
 
I have no clue about Eminem's acting skills, but his music is fun sometimes - that said, I doubt he writes much of the music.
As for the lyrics, I would have far more respect for him if he wouldn't always say "just kidding" and instead say "you're an asshole, you, you, and you - no really, I mean it."

the "just kidding" thing is something 12 year olds do.

I think Eminem is a VERY talented rapper. I haven't seen the movie, but I will make it a point to rent it one day.

I don't own any Eminem CD's, but his lyrics, although irreverent, are pointed and real. He doesn't talk about bling-blinging, and smoking blunts. You can actually tell that what he says is true. He likes to eat vicoden and drink whiskey, and he has no respect for the women who have been important in his life.

He's not living a lie, he's a shitty person and he tells the world he is. But the way he tells it is damned entertaining to listen to. That's why I'm a "fan" of Eminem.

Yeah and he was a shitty actor in all of them. I think he sucks as an actor except when he tried to be angry he can not convey any emotion other than that. When he tries to he comes off really really badly. The only one of those movies which was any good was Boogie Nights.

As far as 3 Kings I still think he sucked in it and the other actors carried him along, just like in all his movies, he is either carried along by other actors or he is carried along by special effects. Just my opinion, I think he sucks as an actor. I love movies and I have studied the art form of acting and he does not know how to act. He stinks.

No he has not, he sucks just as much as he did when he started. Just because he is in the movies and makes movies does not mean he is a good actor. Good actors are people like Dustin Hoffman. Anthony Hopkins, Robert Deniro and Ed Harris. Those are actors. Mark Wahlberg is a white rapper who now makes movies he is not an actor nor will he ever be one. It is an ability that you nurture and train for, just because you are famous in one arena does not mean you can move to another and be considered seriously, he is only in movies because he brings in money not because he is a good actor. The Big Hit sucked, only movie I ever walked out of.

Eminem can act. The movie was a bit disappointing. I saw it lastnight before it was release today (My friend is the manager at the theater). I give it a 2 1/2 out of 4 stars.

your right, but he has talent, obviously people like the way he puts rhymes together, he has a certain style that stands out from the rest, i think he is one of the best rappers, lyrics, the sound, his voice, the tone of the music.....growing up this way or not, a lot of people have, or do feel this way, and can relate to his music, YES THIS BOY IS VERY TALENTED, and it shows seeing he's a millionaire from what he does.

I used to be pre-judgemental towards eminem too, but then realized he had skills. I don't see any reason to think he sucks unless maybe you:

b. are gay
c. work for the government
d. jealous because he is rich and famous now and you're not

When i listen to music, i separate the music from the personality. I don't like the guy, but i don't mind the music. The same goes for most 'pop' stars IMO.

But because he was able to freestyle and put his anger into lyrics it made people laugh and they liked him.

My opinion on M&M: I think he's a musical genius...and a misogynistic asshole.

I've been listening to hip-hop for a long time, and he's one of the few mainstream acts in recent years that actually manages to be innovate. Plus there's a real sense of purpose to a lot of his songs...you don't find that in 99% of the P-diddy clones out there today.

Listen to him talk sometime...he's a smart guy and knows exactly what he's doing. I remember a few years ago when guys like
Ice-T and Public Enemy were going to be the downfall of western civilization. lol Not much has changed. :)

Btw, "Fight Music" (w/ D12) is his best song.

I also heard the moive was awsome...gonna check it out this weekend.

Get a few lyrics that you think are hilarious. I've heard a lot of his songs, even the old ones on infinite and i've never heard any lyrics i thought were funny. His nysync disses and others really aren't original at all.

He's one of the few commercial rappers that doesn't rap about bling bling, yea.. but there are tons of other talented artists that don't either.
 
I just read a review of it that gave it 3 out of 4 stars. I've read a ton of this critics reviews, and he's not afraid to trash a piece of shit if it's a piece of shit. I think I'll try to see it.

I never said 2Pac's lyrics are shit. My exact words were:
"As for Em's skills on the mic, easily one of the best ever. Up there with Rakim, KRS-One, LL Cool J, Dr. Dre, etc. (BTW, Fuck Pac & Biggie making the all-time greatest list - I'm certain I could write & perform better than Biggies mumbling ass and probably write better than Pac, not sure about performing b/c I'm not the greatest with tone/voice inflection, but its only a matter of time)"

But, come to think of it, let me use an analogy to sum up my thoughts on 2Pac. Lets imagine you could walk out on a basketball court and be considered a badass if you could make 10 3-pointers. You can take as many shots as you need to make those 10. It's going to be a lot more impressive if you hit those 10 3-pointers in 12, 20, or even 30 shots. Much more impressive than, say, shooting 150 shots and making 10.

The latter is how 2Pac wrote and recorded. He'd write and record 5 songs in a day. He'd recorded enough material to make roughly 10 new albums when he died. So far there have been what, 4-7 2pac CD's released, some of them double CD's, and off of all of those albums, theres what, 5-15 good songs. Thats not a very good ratio. With Dre, 80% or more of what he makes is solid. Thats pretty fucking consistent. It's like having a sniper rifle or a spray gun like an Uzi. You can shoot both, and both might hit their targets, but its much more impresive to do it often.

If you let me record 200 songs with any decent producer, I guarantee I'd have more good songs than 2Pac did. Thats why I wouldnt place him in the lyricists' elite, Pauly.

I agree with most of what you said about Pac but "decent" producers?...You have Daz (who's cd with Pac is TIGHT, if you want the link I'll hook you up, its leaked), the assassin is HORRIBLE, DRE only did like 5 songs for him and keep in mind all the new cd's are remixed and alot of Pac's verses have been cut out (look at When We Ride off the Better Dayz CD coming out, they fucked up a classic). Go d/l the original My closest road dogs and compare it with the UTEOT one..an ENTIRE verse (a very good one) is cut out. Amaru Producers (the same ones for Ja-Rule, ack) are killing Pac's material and ruining his legacy

Yup, we gave each other green last week. Thanks for buying it. I dont disagree when people say Pac made hits, I just think the drama surrounding his death made him more fans than his actual work and he wasnt consistent enough.
