5x5 for gf

i'm thinking of doing the 5X5. real simple and straightforward.

strength and muscle mass are wanted here!:p

what kind of variation?

5x5 is ok but can also lead to little response for people. Not everyone will work well in that rep threshold. Also the load can put too much on someone and chronic issues may develop.

I personally would consider a rotational, hybrid Westside Barbell scheme.

MAKE THE PROGRAM WORK FOR YOU AND YOUR GOALS. :)

wow, i just scanned through an article on Westside Barbell 5x5 hybrid. is it better to tweak the workout a bit, kinda combine it with 5x5?

as for goals...ummm, i know most people concentrate on either fat loss or muscle gain, BUT i'm too impatient to to focus on only one. i want it all!lol
it working okay so far.

never mind, i dont think it needs tweaking at all! i'm really interested. i think i just might try it out and see if i like it or not. i'm gonna read up on it some more. i hope you don't mind if i still have questions later.

I've never quite gotten why so many people continue to talk about 5x5 for years now and no one ever discusses HST anymore despite anecdotal evidence that it works at least as good, perhaps better, for hypertrophy. I suspect it's just continued hyping by trainers that's benefitted it.

I did some HST cycles in late '03 and early '04 and did quite well. Can bump my old HST log if anyone cares to see my implementation and results.

That is a good point as I get older I do make changes as it hurts more to go heavy and not the good kinda hurt.
