well, PLJ and irish have both said do whatever the F' it takes to get the lift.
I didnt care for the rocking back and forth part, that seemed kinda dangerous.

Did kinda resemble my SQ though
:)

A little too much squat, but considering you haven't done them before, thats fine.

The nice thing about GMs is even with not so perfect technique, you will still get something out of it.

Next time try using more of your low back to complete the lift. But don't worry, what you did today wasnt a total waste. It looks like you are on the right track, good job.

Well I am on a public computer at the moment and cannot look at the vid, so cannot comment on form. I do say, tho, that whatever it takes to get the damn thing up is fine. A heavy chain suspended GM will always look a lot like a squat, IMO.

I did this exercise last night as well, but did it at 39 inches and I made it up to mid 400's. Very tough exercise, and just a few inches in height difference makes a world of difference on the weight you are able to use. I have done these from 44ish inches and went over 600 lbs, and 400 was kicking my ass at 39 inches.

Stick with these. They are a great exercise I think. I would recommend varying height and stance on them, personally.

Far be it from me to be critical of someone else's GM form! LOL

If you've seen any of my GM vids, they're half-squat, half GM.

That said...on ME days, whatever it takes to move the weight is what I've been told. They have definitely helped strengthen my lower back, no question.

I think we're gonna try the chains at 41 instead of 36 here soon. Should be interesting.

I do have a question though: why the swing before the lift?
