+22lb Progress, 3.5 months (with pics)

good work!! just one question, how come your bent over row is so much more advanced than the other lifts? was your back more developed to start with due to a previous hobby? its even more than your squat!

I was gonna laugh at your skinny bird legs in the before pics but I remember how I looked when I first started out. I'll add my vote of confidence to what others have said. Improvement in muscular thickness is noticable and well distributed which tells me you must be doing something right. Don't know about lifts, some things just come with a little more time.

Yeah, I was a stockman at Walmart and I pulled alot of crap around for 6 months before I started working out, actually bent over rows where hard for me at first because I was having trouble maintaining position, now there at a level where it's actually working my arms since my back and legs are strong enough to hold form.

I'm sure my squat and deadlift are going to improve a lot in the next few months though because I got my form on both down pretty excellent now and won't have to do form adjustments.

For the first two months of working out I was being dumb and deadlifting sumo style, now doing conventional.

Squatting was just plain tough for me at first because I never did the squatting motion in anything, that took me a few months to get really down good, but since I have them down now I should advance some.

All in all most of my past few months have been spent on some strength increases and lots of form refinement and dieting, the first month my diet was kinda low on protein so that wasn't good either.

Also I had a minor back injury at work that is now healed but that slowed progress as well.

Really I learned a TON in the past 3 months and am now applying it so I should see some breakthoughs soon.

Yeh in another few months to a year ppl when they see you will no longer ask if you work out. They will just ask how many days a week etc. Feels fuckin awesome! I was always a real small dude and ppl were like have u been workin out? Now its just like dude wtf u been doin jesus lol. When you get there dont slow down tho! But you will feel fuckin incredible

eat more man! that's actually slow progress in terms of you being a beginner and doing the 3x5. you should be gaining like 2-3 lbs a week!

Keep up the work. I think most of us have forgotten what it was like when we first started. As mentioned above, you should push yourself with the weights. I scanned your log and noticed you seem to stick to a rather strict routine for reps and sets. I would recommend increasing the weights till you could not finish the last lift. When you can finish the last lift, it is time to up the weight again.

This theory applies to food as well. The quantity you eat needs to increase in order to keep growing. At your height I would guess it will need to increase a lot as you move up from 200lbs.

Will do, I will start increasing my weights if I can do 5 reps and see where that gets me.

Sculelos, I've been following your log from the beginning. I wanted to see how far you could come from such a strength deficit. You are truly the poster boy for skinny bastards of what can be achieved if you take a reasonable plan and STICK TO IT. Congrats. Hope to see you again at 230.
