2,000 calories--not enough?

I'm 130 lb. and eat about 2000 calories a day--the right amount of protein, carbs, fat ratio. My workout partner said I should eat more calories if I want to put on more muscle. I eat every 3 hours - Any ideas on the subject?:(

That depends on a lot of things......like the kind of work you do, amount of cardio, general body type(ecto, meso or endomorhic)

If you have a job that is not too physically demanding and do moderate amounts of cardio and are typically ectomorphic in body structure like most women or a ecto/meso combo then I do not think 2000 is enough unless you are using steroids.

Why don't you try adding calories in 100 kcal daily increments? So, next week you eat 2100 kcals/day; the week after 2200 kcals/day, and so on. Then, weigh yourself at the end of each week, or better yet, get your bodyfat checked at the end of each week and see how your body is reacting. If you do it gradually, you should be able to figure out the point when you're starting to store too much body fat.
