Hey all - my first post here at this forum. I always enjoy reading the experiences of others. I am 30 years old, weigh about 245 and 6'2. My body fat is higher than I'd like it to be, and higher than I've had it before (I'd guess about 15%). I've been lifting weights my entire adult life and have always been more or less on a healthy eating lifestyle.
So now I come to why I post - I have hit the brick wall in regards to weight loss and burning off the fat. I suppose it is a product of getting older, but my sure fire methods of cutting up just don't work any more.
Here's my basic routine (I indulge in a cheat day about 1x every 2 weeks on average I'd say) - If you've heard of the 'slo carb' diet, it is similar to that.
Diet:
I eat nearly the same thing every day or some minor modification of it, subsituting proteins for other proteins and veggies for other veggies, etc.
Breakfast
4 eggs, cooked on a skillet with nothing else but salt/pepper
Lunch
Salad consisiting of spinach, fresh veggies, feta cheese (usually), balsamic vinnegrette dressing and some olive oil. Some sort of protein, usually chicken breast at about 10 oz or so
Dinner
Most days, a vegetable stir fry consisting of broccoli, mushrooms, chicken breast, fresh peppers, carrots, Pinto Beans, and various seasonings....cooked in olive oil
Some days I will substitue my normal stir fry for some prime rib or roast portk or something of that ilk...but always just meat and veggies and legumes.
Drinks - 8 glasses of water (ish), usually plenty of coffee also, occaisional diet coke
Exercise:
Every morning, 7 days a week, I work on a tread mill for about 1 hr...this is typically walking briskly (4mph) up an incline while watching Sons of Anarchy, madmen, or some other cool show According to my treadmill, this burns me about 600 calories each time.
About 3 times per week, I hit the weights in the later afternoon. Workouts vary from straight free weights to P90x style muscle workout routines.
I've done all the calculations - and it seems like I am taking in quite a few less calories than I'm taking in daily....so I am at a loss as to why the lbs aren't coming off. I have tried rotating diets from the above, to strick no carb diets, to strick low calorie diets, etc, to change things up, but I'm still pretty stuck.
The goal is simple - to lose fat and cut up. I am very disciplined and can follow basically any regime, so I've come to the conclusion I am doing some thing wrong here but can't seem to put my finger on it.
Any help is very much appreciated - thank you, to all my new friends.
Dylan
