1 year after 9/11: The US and its theatrics.

The UN is the best chance for any type of World Govt.

Its my fondest wish that before i die, I get to see a true world govt.

The US is getting insular, and that is BAD.

I love the liberal mindset. So conflicting. It's really fun to observe. This thread quite entertaining.

Anyway, regarding this quote... Ahh, conformity. Could their be any stronger more pure dream for mankind?

Yes, a nation strengthening it's independence. Be it a small African country and it's a beautiful thing. Be it a powerful nation such as the US and it's "BAD."

Americans STILL don't get it.

You are doing EXACTLY what the terrorists want you to do.

Close your borders, develop paranoia, stricter govt.
etc.. etc..

The US has ALWAYS been about open borders, trade etc...

That is what the terrorists wanted to destroy and sadly they are
accomplishing this little by little.

You guys have little experience with this. You've never
had a terrorist group operate in your country.

You have now.

You cannot live in fear for the rest of your lives.

Fonz
Well this is a total dodge away from some valid arguments. Are you just trying to reorganize your thoughts behind the intent of this thread, or are you just backpedalling your way out of supporting yourself?

LOL. You are already biased, therefore cannot properly
argue the points.

Are you kidding me? Well gee, LOL, YOU are already biased as well. As long as more than one person exists, we will each be biased.

So can any of us really "properly argue the points?" If your understanding of "properly <arguing> the points" stems from the expectation that everyone see an issue from exactly your perception, we cannot.

Fonz, your ability to sidestep is unmatched.

I enjoy getting you all riled up....LOL

I'm just not in the mood to debate. I'm pretty tired.
Might come back to this thread later on the week and
restart the debate.

Sidestep. Unrivaled. Fonz.

Yes, you do get me riled up. I'm used to arguing with people who are practiced in higher logic. I find your flow of logic in such debates not unlike that of a 5 year old. It's really a challenge.

Oh,I think you'd be surprised there Fonz.If we were certain that someone was going to attack us,the U.N. wouldn't mean shit to us in times of emergency. We will defend our country no matter what any 'council' has to say.If you think different you are fooling yourself.

This is the reason why americans ARE NOT liked abroad.

You trample over every International law.
Huck states that if the US was certain that it was going to come under attack, the US would defend herself with or without U.N. backing.

You state that this is why Americans "ARE NOT liked abroad."

Question: Do you not think it to be the right of any sovereign nation to defend herself against an aggressor regardless of the opinion of the U.N.?

Possible answers:
A. YES, I do not think a sovereign nation has the right to defend herself against an aggressor without U.N. backing because...

B. NO, I do believe that a sovereign nation has the right to defend herself against an aggressor without U.N. backing because...

C. Both A and B.

D. All of the above.

E. None of the above.

-the US has not paid it's UN dues.

B. NO, I do believe that a sovereign nation has the right to defend herself against an aggressor without U.N. backing because...

-then when the US wins and takes over Iraqi oil, they will be wealthier and can pay their UN dues.

C. Both A and B.

Maybe

D. All of the above.

I don't know

E. None of the above.

Strongly agree.

My respect for Bush is going up due to his recent words to the UN. Looks like that puss Powel is at least keeping his rotten mout shut a little more.

IMHO Bush needs NO resolution from the UN due to fact they are not OUR masters. I hope this mess destroys that rotten organization. Saddam is in violation and the UN has doen nothing to change that. If they continue to fail to do so, we will see the begginning of the end of that corrupt group. Good!

Bush doesn't need any additional authority from congress either.

1.The Commander in Chief, under war powers act, can send troops pretty much where he pleases for 60 days.

2. The resolution of congress right after 9/11 authorizing him to act seems to fit as well.

It appears to me that it is going to happeen - and soon. No matter what the cowards, traitors and other assorted whiners say, we are going to attack Iraq. I just hope we do it right, which means a total surrender and occupation.

If other shithole countries like Iran, Arabia, Syria or any others in the area want in, we got enough military might to utterly destroy them, too! Russia wants no part of this mess nor does China. Who else can oppose US? Europeans will flap their lips but they will tolerate it or even support it, so what's the problem? Lets roll!!

To those socialist UN radicals Bush should say something like, "Kofi, pack your shit. You third world goat ropers and socialist pole smokers have got two hours to be out of the building, off Manhattan and CONUS, or I'm gonna put the 23rd Marines on line with fixed bayonets and march you all into the East River. Then VMA-211 will napalm it. You been told, now get to it."

You boys ready? This country's going to WAR!

Read the book 'Death by Government' by R.J. Rummel. He is a professor who set out to see how many people were killed by their own government in the 20th century (he came up with 169 million). He also came to teh conclusion that democracy, government accountability & diffused responsiblity are all necessary to prevent government repression.

to quote:

"Power kills; absolute Power kills absolutely. . . . The more power a government has, the more it can act arbitrarily according to the whims and desires of the elite, and the more it will make war on others and murder its foreign and domestic subjects. The more constrained the power of governments, the more power is diffused, checked, and balanced, the less it will aggress on others and commit democide. At the extremes of Power, totalitarian communists governments slaughter their people by the tens of millions; in contrast, many democracies can barely bring themselves to execute even serial murderers."

I bet you live in america, or Europe, am i right? i also bet you think 'government repression' is being given a $50 fine for smoking marijuana or being given a speeding ticket. Its easy to complain about the evils of the U.N. 'diffusing responsibility' or 'assaulting national soveriginity' when its the other guy who always gets his ass kicked. If the UN become toooooo PC or repressive, it should be abolished. However, right now they are working to maintain order (feel free to disprove this statement, whoever hates the UN).
