Dreams Anyone?

just...v

High End Bro

So I got this book that is a dream dictionary. It tells you what specific objects or colors mean in you dreams. Anyone interested?

I don't buy into that kind of stuff. How does one become an authority on dreams, and why am I supposed to take their word that a dream about xyz means abc. I don't think it is so cut and dry.

remove stick from spinkter and have a little fun. Do you want the name of the book? You can google the author.

I was hoping it meant something cooler than that.

I used to have this other reoccurring dream. I was alone on a small island and the tide was rising. It kept getting higher and higher until it was almost over ms head. I'd wake up before drowning. It was some serious shit. It used to freak me out.

I told my friends about that one and they said it meant I was gay hahah

Last night: Im at the office and I look out the window and there is a tornado heading right for the office. I grab my daughter and yell at my Mom (who is there? LOL) and tell her to get downstairs. She wont listen to me and I'm yelling and screaming at her to just listen to me, I know what I'm talking about, but she won't listen. I decide to hop in Johnny's truck and drive home to out run it. NOw he's driving and we are driving down the highway and I notice there is a plane landing in the field next to the highway, then I notice there is another crahsed plane in the field. I look ahead and there is ANOTHER crashed plane, in two pieces on the highway in front of me. I tell Johnny to stop, don't get any closer to the plane but he won't stop. He keeps driving, he wants to help, I'm yelling stop stop stop and the plane blows up , we blow up , I wake up. LOL

Johnny kills me in all my dreams lol

Island represents a time to pause during a spiritual search. (spirit does not mean religion, but what you soul searches for) The ocean alludes to spiritual facets in one's life. The act of drowning is a strong advisement to "come up for spiritual air instead of over saturating self with a flood of spiritual research"

Maybe you were looking for something that you mind was not ready for yet so it wanted you to stop, thus it tried to drown you in your sleep.

That's a cool ass dream Cindy. I dream of shady plane crashes and random horror all the time.

I also have night terrors. I don't know it's happening but appearantly I scream out often in my sleep.

I have the most horrifying dreams. Plane crashes aren't shit :D Sometimes I wake up prematurely and I'm still hallucinating and shit. IRL. Fucked up shit :lmao: I've done everything I can to get the dreams to stop and they wont.

If you ever remember one of your night terrors, I'd love to hear about it

Ok there is a lot going on here....The office is work or personal efforts that you have applied to something. A window pertains to quality and quanty of your personal perception. The tornado is a great deal of torment. Maybe you were having a hard time at work? The truck represents your efforts and energy to get away from the turmoil. The planes are your thoughts, so the two that crashed were discarded and the one that landed was an idea your mind liked. Crashes represent a sudden ending, most likely something you saw as a failure. It could be something as simple as you wanting to go on vacation and you could not get away from work so you guys decided against it. Think about what was going on at the time in real life the days before you had the dream. Anything that explodes is you emotional reaction to the thought, effort you put into it, ect.

Did you know that health insurance "denotes self-doubt; a lack of faith in one's own healing abilities."? I would have thought it would mean something better than that.

did the author receive his training in real life or was it a part of a lucid dream? maybe he only thinks he knows what he's talking about when in reality it's just a bunch of bullshit.

p.s. <3 you

How about me cutting people up and putting them in a blender

whats that mean?
Well...Cutting means to sever (duh) but the blender is more interesting because it "Cautions against a separatist attitude toward various aspects of life". So look at who you were cutting up maybe? Ask youself what your attitude toward them is.

bed and fire - what do those words mean?

Bed: cautions against overdoing; a need for rest

Fire: Extreme emotional intensity

Oh and fireball is kinda cool: an uncontrollabel, unstoppable ramification to one's explosive emotional expressions.

Neato Huh?

I have a journal and I have recorded my dreams since I was in high school. I was thinking of creating a blog.

I've read all of Jung's work and a ton of other material on dreams. IMO dreams come in two categories (1) random thoughts that mean nothing (the brain is simply processing information); and (2) conscious thoughts that deal with various issues we have in life.

Many of the dream interpretation books are bullshit because they try to attribute meaning to the first category of dreams and there is no meaning to those dreams.

Over the years I learned to control my dreams. I had issues with flying in my dreams when I was younger. I could never lift off, or it would be too slow, or I would fall back to the ground. Now I can control the speed and everything. It is quite an experience. It took years for me to do this.

I also (sometimes) know in my dreams that I am dreaming and I can wake myself up. This doesn't occur during deep sleep though.

The greatest burden I have now is that my late-morning dreams (dreams right before I get up) are the conscious type of dreams. I am always someplace else, with someone else, really enjoying life. I then wake up and face reality. It is quite depressing.

A dog holding my hand in it's mouth.
The dog refers to a close friend or associate. But specific breeds have different meanings. What breed is it? your hand is service you have done for others. A mouth represents the manner in which one speaks or communicates. Now a mouthful calls for a need for the mind to be focused when communicating with others. Maybe it has something to do with the things you do for those close to you and they way they communicate to you about it.

You dream every night.

You only remember dreams when you're awoken during R.E.M. (e.g., "deep sleep")

Varying. Always a big, intimidating one though. In the dream the dog is really clamped down on it and I feel frightened, but it never injuries me. I'm 27 and have been having this dream for probably 7 or 8 years now.

Is the dog a specific color? Is it happening in a house or out in a yard? Is it wearing a collar? does your hand bleed?

rottweiler: Denotes a friends socal selectiveness
Pitbull: agressiveness
German Shepherd: Characterizes a helpful frined or close associate.
Nothing in here for bite, but maul or attack: defines an overwhelming aspect in one's life
House: stands for the mind
Backyard: alludes to one's rightful territory (if it is yours) cautions against sticking your nose into someone elses business (if it is someone else's)
Front yard: implies that which lies in one's future; may also suggest what one presents to the public.

Any of that help?

No, never any blood or even any injury at all. I just recall always feeling frightened that it will hurt me, but it never does. And I've had this damn dream probably a dozen times over the years. Occurs in varying locations I believe.

I have recurrent nightmares of being murdered.. ? seriously

Murder: will usually represent a symbolic death. This may refer to a relationship, plan, or other type of current situation.

Since if is you being murdered (and not you murdering someone) it is probably that the situation is ending without you wanting it to but that is just my 2 cent.

Where are you bing murdered? With what? I can look up places and objects if you would like.

Your dream seems like one of the simplest dreams, but it is really complicated to figure out. I almost think that you do a lot for those around you and sometimes it is overwhelming and you feel trapped?

I have this dream over and over. I am in my bedroom, and there are all these hands that just tug at me (pulling my hair and my clothes) I try to get away, but they are everywhere. I never really get away, I just wake up all freaked out. Weird.

You dream every night.

You only remember dreams when you're awoken during R.E.M. (e.g., "deep sleep")

I do not dream every night. I have found that some supplements and meditation prior to sleep help me dream. The supplements promote dreaming and meditation assists me in controlling the dreams. I do not actively meditate before falling asleep anymore though but I still have the ability to control my dreams. I had a wonderful dream of flying the other night.

I disagree with the standard belief that we only remember dreams when we are awoken during REM sleep. I know my early morning dreams are REM and I remember those vividly but also I remember and can completely control the dreams I have during the first few hours of sleep. I do not believe this is a REM state.

Also, I do not believe we hit the REM state when taking naps. If I take a nap for approximately 45-60 minutes, I not only can control the dream but also I can remember it. I cannot completely control my early morning dreams that do occur in the REM state.

I always wanted to do a sleep study. I do suffer from insomnia. What would be great is to know exactly when my dreams are happening.

I dream all the time that you fuckers would STFU. What does that mean?

I'm not sure , with what however I lost my girlfriend several months ago and I think you may be right on! Thank you, very much for the response! K

I see dead people when I close my eyes. No J/K

Last night I dreamed that I strangled my brother's ex-girlfriend to death with an extension cord. It was a happy dream :)

Uh...
Electrical cord: connotes that which conducts energies;the connection between a source of power and the object of receivership

I put the definition for murder in one of my past posts, check it out

Deaith: termination, finality

i have a lot of nightmares about dying in plane crashes and also bugs crawling on me

Planes are the quality and depth of thoughts, death is finality

Bugs:generally portray irritations in life. May have positive meaning when specific insects are shown

What kind of bugs?

Colors have meaning too....

I dreamed me and you had a romantic night out, the waiter got our drink orders wrong, so we kicked his ass and tried to drown him in his fuck up. The cops came, we ran our seprate ways and meet back up at our crib for romance and a UFC pay per view.:qt:

That is interesting, you want me to look that up?

I dream that the world is going to end because of a tidal wave a lot.

:) Sure! I usually dream the world is going to end by an asteroid, lol...a couple of the dreams, the moon was going to crash into the earth

I have one that still bugs me but don't have it as often anymore.
I'm back in the service and on a mission that is going fine and we get ambushed. Taking casualties and next thing I know I'm in position and making hits on the bad guys. The rest of the team is moving off toward the objective and I watch them manuever. I feel panick setting in watching them trying to evac the wounded and as I go to help them I'm running toward them but not getting closer. In my my dream I never get there, and am crossing a trench when the bad guys catch up to me. I take two to the chest, and actually am in pain and gasping for air when I wake up. It scares the shit out of my wife.

LOL. That is so us.

K...
Apocalypse: connotes a personal revelation; may possibly be associated with a personal conflict.
Asteroid: Signifies minor events in one's life
Moon: corresponds with spiritual wisdom/gifts and thier application.
Earth: symbolizes humankind's physical side; the three-dimensional touchable aspects of our world
Collision: pertains to harmful or negative result
Collision course: warnd of a destructive relationship or dangerous perspective, emotional basis, or path.

Want my opinion? Or do you know what I am going to say?

Same here. If I don't like the way a dream is going, I either end it or change it (while still sleeping).

What does that mean, Oracle?

Ambush: connotes a deceitful situation or relationship, betrayal.
Battle: Tough time ahead; a real struggle to reach a goal
Bullets: pertains to the negative aspects of self that could injure others
I don't know if you were wearing one in the dream but... Bulletproof vest: exemplifies an emotionally devoid personality; a fear of being affected or affecting others; a measure against being emotionally hurt
There is no entry for defense, so I am going with protector: protrays a guarding or method of self-protection one has in place. This could refer to the distance on maintains from others, the tendency to keep private matters close to the cest, or andy other behavior that is used to semi-insulate oneself.
Dying: Forewarns of death of one's high ideals or an actual physical demise.
I don't know if you felt this way in ur dream but I am going to give you failure. I noticed that you failed to catch the group and you failed to get away.
Failure: signifies a call for acceptance and perserverance; a message to make future attempts
Pain: personally harmful element in one's life. this could be caused by and external source or be generated by self.
Enemy: Informs dreamer of negative aspects or associations in his life.
Trench: denotes perseverance and personal faith in oneself.
Chest: refers to our protected emotional center.
Gasp: advised against being caught unaware or off guard

I know that this may seem somewhat negative, but pay attention to the fact that you were caught at the trench. Both the failure to get away and the trench mean perseverance, the strength to keep going. I see it as your mind encouraging you. (just my 2 cent)

I'd love ur opinion. I have no idea what to make of that ;)

You worry a little bit about other people's feelings towards your beliefs and actions. It is not that you see yourself as wrong, but you worry that when you open yourself up and become a little vulnerable people might do something to hurt you. Your mind is cautioning you, not to keep from opening up, but to recognize those that will hurt you. You must stay stong and not let them or avoid those type of people altogether.

What do you think? Am I off base?

Daannggg! that's a lot to think about! and WTF is up with being back in country? Why that setting?

i guess the plane crashes aren't really nightmares because i make peace with death before impact every time, but i still die in the dream and wake up immediately.

the bugs are usually large spiders, roaches, or one i don't see that just crawls up my leg really fast

Even one buys into the pretty widely accepted notion that dreams are how our brain sort of ruminates over real life issues, I'd say being able to change their course on a regular basis suggests you deal with your "stuff" in real life so well your brain doesn't have the imperative to play stuff out while unconscious. I think if the mind really needed to get this stuff out and deal with it in some way, one wouldn't be able to regularly choose to shift the course of the dream.

no not at all, that was pretty good. Not off base at all. In fact, its better than what I was thinking it meant

Spider: may regeal a conniving individual or it may refer to a unique type of persoonal defensive measure. Recall the dream's details for clarity of meaning.
^^^That is exactly what the book said.

LOL under roach it says see Marijuana. Lemme check cockroach...

Cockroach: refers to major distuptions in one's emotional or physical life.

I would never want to increase dream activity. I'm about to go to sleep right now, I hope I don't remember my dream.

melatonin is VERY enhancing! I already had vivid dreams but with melatonin, its crazy and the memory last alot longer. maybe its just enhancing my recollection and thats why it seems crazier.

anyways to the dream deciferers here:
i had a violent sexual dream the other night. Not like aggressive sex(hawt), just voilent and scary. i would never want it to happen to me, but it seemed i was enjoying it in the dream. what that all about?

My dreams are always stressful, and usually involve either work or my parents. I haven't had any school dreams in years.

I've had a reoccuring dream for about 14 years now. I'm wearing my kilt upper body painted blue, charging into a field of people (place varies sometimes a mideval battlefield, sometimes accross my college campus, crowded square etc..), broadsword in hand chopping my way through the masses. Always at the end of the dream I am in a banquet hall with my old roomates head as the center piece on the table with flowers growing out of it. The hall is always filled with family and friends. Whenever I have this dream I wake up extremely happy and refreshed.

Cheers,

Sex: is a symbol that correlates with ones manner of communication with others; quality of relationships and type of behavior toward them

Hmm...nothing in here for violent, agressive, or dominate. What other details pop into mind? Location, objects, colors...

hmm, don't remember location, object, ect. there was color though, lotta blue, white, and yellows. what i remember vividly is "my feelings", i felt exhilarated/reborn. super scared, but i felt pleasure/excitement instead of fear but i was def scared.hahaha, told u it was crazy and doesnt make sense.

This book is weird, it mostly defines objects not feelings. The objects are supposed to be connected with the feelings that you have, something like that.

Blue: spirituality and spiritual aspects in life.
Yellow: contentedness; inner peace
White: purity, goodness; the positive aspects in life.

If your partner was someone you know, maybe it means that this person is forbidden to you, but they make you feel really good about yourself.

happy and refreshed is good stuff! maybe a major a future event will cause this or maybe its happened and u just need to acknowledged it, or maybe ur having a internal or external battle/block that your fighting or want to fight to attain peace or something. whatever it is, it apparently makes u happy. lol, i suck. where are all the dream interpreters?

lololol, it was pretty much the opposite of what those color meaning say.

um as for the partner, he's the man of my dreams.lololol
well he is, he is the only one i dream about consistently. i don't know if i know him cause i dont know what he looks like; always in the shadows. i tried to figure out/remember what he looks like but i always draw blank. it seems i never pay attention to his appearance, because i'm so wrapped up in the feelings he induces. and i'm always having sex with him, he doesn't appear in any nonsexual dreams i have. i always feel safe w/ him, like holding your breath/dying and then being able to breath when he is present and knowing u'll never suffocate as long as he is there.

just...v = MuscleMom v.2.0
PULLLEEEESE

I've never used a dream dictionary in my life. Virtually useless. You'd do better reading Jung.

Yes, there are collective symbolic archetypes, but generally speaking, the dream is specific TO the dreamer and as such that is who the best interpreter of the dream is.

For example, take colors. Red to me could mean: South, Passion, Will, Desire, the tarot suit of wands or staffs, dragons or being pissed off in general. Red to someone else might mean STOP. It does not have that connotation for me, as I do not drive.

Oh, and Cindy (and anyone who has regularly disturbing/screwed up dreams) if you want the dream to stop you need to start keeping a dream journal (unless you're on some kind of drug or medication that could be causing disturbing dreams).

The key to getting rid of bad dreams is to pay attention to them, not keep pretending they don't exist and try to forget them.

OH, and one other thing: Freud said it all when he said "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

For those of you who frequently have violent dreams, if you watch a lot of horror/action adventure movies or play a crap load of video games, the odds are you're going to dream this shit.

Long story short, not all dreams mean something or are messages from your subconscious, in fact, those fall into the smallest percentage of dreams. Most dreams are your brain trying to sort itself out, and occasionally mentally vacations. In other words, most of the time if you dream you're banging someone, it just means your hormones are in an uproar :whatever:

could be. I've dealt with a lot of shit through my life and I have gotten better at handling things over the years.

I wonder what musclemom would say...?

i had a violent sexual dream the other night. Not like aggressive sex(hawt), just voilent and scary. i would never want it to happen to me, but it seemed i was enjoying it in the dream. what that all about?

clearly, OMEGA is the mystery man of your dreams who was "raping and pillaging" you.

(non-sexually)

I've had a reoccuring dream for about 14 years now. I'm wearing my kilt upper body painted blue, charging into a field of people (place varies sometimes a mideval battlefield, sometimes accross my college campus, crowded square etc..), broadsword in hand chopping my way through the masses. Always at the end of the dream I am in a banquet hall with my old roomates head as the center piece on the table with flowers growing out of it. The hall is always filled with family and friends. Whenever I have this dream I wake up extremely happy and refreshed.

Cheers,
Scotsman
