meme car accident thread

so...I was at the front of a three car accident
guy all the way in the back admitted and already found at fault

my bimmer is pretty brutalized...so is my neck
truck in the middle is phuuuucked so was the lil vw at the rear...my BMW faired the best.

the BMW has an appointment on wed. for an estimate/possible repair (unlikely) through the shop the others guys insurance company requested, I know the shop theyre good bros. I'm demanding a rental if it goes in because its my daily driver.

I haven't gone in for my neck. I know its just whiplash and I'm not a dishonest person so I'm reluctant to go in just for whiplash to try and get paid or some shit.

as an aside, I knew all the cops from my husbands motorcycle accident..lol and one of em passed along a dispatcher position opening up so thats kinda cool.

this thread can go in the direction of...I know xyz's cousin that made a peudo fraudulent claim just for bank (I have legit whiplash) or you know, wherever

one thing I'm not clear on...my laptop won't boot since the accident...it wailed the dash

thats probably not covered by the doods insurance huh.

as you well know "whiplash" isn't just a legal term for settlement offer ... you wouldn't want to absolve your future claim (including possibly groovy drugs) if God forbid it turns into something else.

Sorry to hear that... You have enough hassles and worries with just your husband's accident already!

On the laptop, it should indeed be covered by the other guy's insurance if he's at fault, but it wouldn't be covered by your own insurance if hypothetically it had been your fault. Reason is that anything not permanently installed in the car is "personal property", which is not covered by auto insurance. Such personal property is, however, covered by homeowner's or renter's insurance, even if it's in your car or a hotel. The bad thing is, that usually it will cost you a lot of money (increased homeowners/renters rates) if you ever file a claim like that. There are exceptions, but usually that's the rule. But since the other person is at fault, his liability covers all losses to others, including rental car, personal property (you might have to prove up, by either having the laptop repaired, or getting a statement from a repair tech saying it's not worth repairing). They should give you either the full cost to repair, or pay you fair market value for it if it's shot.

I admire and appreciate that you don't intend to ride the whiplash for profit, as so many otherwise honest people seem to do. I hope it gets better fast, but if not, you're not dishonest at all to get it seen to under the insurance claim.

take care of your neck; you deserve to have it looked at. people's necks can bother them for years after a wreck like that.

if you can't get your laptop working, which i'm guessing you won't, i recommend best buy's data reovery

do get the neck checked out, and about the laptop, remove the power cord and the battery, then press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds (obviously wont turn on, it's to drain energy) the try battery and power again. tell me what it's doing and maybe i can help, no power, no boot, freezes in wondows screen, etc.

^^^^^ I'll give this a shot....I was just too sore and tired yesterday to care..
haven't had time to look at the laptop today.

my boobs made it through!

I tend to refer to all my cars by make or model tho....its an old bmw if that helps..lol


my neck definitely feels worse today...the pain sort of moved into my shoulders upper back and jaw...so...I'll give some flexeril a shot tonight and see if its better or not tomorrow

Have the whiplash documented at least. It can lead to some serious stuff down the road. I had it last year and 4 weeks later lost total control of my right pec. It took 5 months of physio to get it working again. A nerve pinched off in the accident and it took a few weeks to affect my chest. We have no fault here so cash benifit was not the motive at all.

go get some x-rays foolio!

At the least go to a chiro. The other guy's ins. will cover your visits. The chiros handle those claims all the time. If you feel it was a pretty good jolt though, I would go to your doc at the least, if not the ER. Either way you'll get your x-rays and have someone look at them.

Most likely there will be no fx's, but I'm sure there will be some misalignment. MDs won't usually give a shit about that, so I would go to the chiro afterwards regardless. As you know all the nerves stem from the spinal cord, and a misalignment can cause compression of a spinal nerve. That could result in any number of issues from numbness, to loss of motor function, to issues with organs, etc. Everything is controlled by the brain and the brain sends info via the spinal cord to those nerves to everything in our bodies. A problem could develop later as that compression gets worse.

It's not like you're milking his insurance. You're doing it by the book. Of course they don't WANT you to go, because they could be liable for more damages. You have every right to be seen by a physician, and you know it.

Course of action: ER or your PCP, then Chiro (as long as you're cleared - no fx. I love going to the chiro. :)

Don't worry about your car. I have my eye on a cherry 1993 Geo Metro that can get you around for the time being. It even has some 13" hundred spoke Daytons so you'll be ridin fly!

so, the cop who is doin the report stopped by a lil bit ago..
to check to see how we're doin..lol..man, we're the accident ppl

anyway, he said the neck pain went into the report and the report should be ready by the end of the week
AND that my laptop went flying into the dash and that the rear end of my car is shot
he said the guy that caused the accident never even hit his brakes, he hit us at around 50 miles an hr...go go gadget bumpers/seatbelts

he also told me again about the dispatcher position opening up, plus pt positions theyre hiring for now so thats kind of interesting

Sweetheart....fuck. You guys are really getting reamed lately. This run of luck you two are getting is pissing me off.
 
I can only do it with my right boob :( left one wont cooperate, same thing happens in individual eyebrow raising.
 
in many cases, "whiplash" can be a life change incident and the recovery can be long and painful..

An attorney will tell you to go to a chiro, see a doc, rent a car "if your insurance covers it" and make 12 appointments for massage and the chiro.. keep track of your lost work time to go to the appointments as well..

the injury can take years to recover from..

as for the laptop.. .yes it is covered.. its' personal property that was damaged during a car accident...

if it was sitting on the road next to you and he ran over it, would you expect him to pay for it??

if we didn't just buy the house...I'd consider moving!

seriously tho, this sux because where we moved to is like outdoor sports paradise

bike trails, hiking trails, crazy kayaking, 5k every other week, rock climbing rapeling, skiing..you name it this area has it
and we can't do any of it atm :(

I have the same problem with my testicles, I swear they had whiplash. They just hang there. I swear I used to be able to make those suckers dance.

I really was rear ended once.

I was in a 4x4 2500 Dodge Crew Cab work truck stopped at a red light when a Miata :rainbow: hit me.

It was so low I couldn't see it in the rear views. I got out to say wtf??? then realized someone hit him and launched him into me.

The Miata was fucked up ... the Dodge truck didn't have a scratch :)
 
See someone (ortho) for the neck, seriously. I know someone who had untreated whiplash and it bothered her for more than a decade until she found a good chiropractor. If you are really resistant to seeing a doctor at least get a soft cervical collar and wear that for a week or two and start taking Advil or Aleve.

ok, the insurance company is now jerking me around and after todays bullshit, Im lawyering up


they told me they arent covering the car until I go deal with the medical...
my Dr was on vacation, NP recommended a walk-in or the emergency room

so I go to prompt care
who decides stage one whiplash, but lets just do an xray for cya

xray comes out so bad I was collared, backboarded and transported by ambulance to..the same hospital they brought my husband
after 6 hrs of collar and backboard, they decide stage 3 or 4 whiplash and I need physical therapy for a few months and I have a cocktail of drugs...


WTF!
I just want my effin carb fixed!!!

the irony is, the insurance companhy basically forced my hand with going to the drs

they wont even cover a rental until the medical claim is processed...

They gotta do it, honey. Insurance companies are absolutely terrified of possible whiplash cases because of getting reamed by lawsuits by injured parties. They want absolute full medical documentation immediately to protect themselves. I got bopped in my old Cavalier and had to do all the same bologna years ago.
