All this "you'll be a great dad" or "go be a good dad!" is fuckin retarded and without any real thought. it's the amicable "i'm afraid to say what i really think" or head in the clouds type comment. Does he HAVE to be a good dad now? If he has the kid, yes he does...he has no choice. But he needs to think long and hard about altering the course of his life forever, and agreeing or encouraging it is insanely ignorant.
this is the worst reality check someone can ever encumber themselves with. It's a reckless decision with a potential negative impact in many people's lives. Is it insurmountable? But there's a level of magnitude in those decisions. the first reaction someone is gonna have to being told they are fucking up is to become defensive of their ego and their choices. so when this is done in a hurtful manner, the target is gonna be that much more defensive and maybe even resentful, and the odds of the advice actually getting through plummet. there are ways to tell someone they fucked up in a supportive way where you make it clear they are a good dude but you neutrally spell out the issues they are going to face and what they could be doing instead to avoid them.

She will have a sugar daddy not too long after the baby is born. WIC and welfare only get you so far as does apricot seeds and Chili's and shotty pesonal training.
Since you're gonna keep it your main concern right now is to make sure it comes out healthy, have good medical insurance coverage, amke sure she goes to EVERY appointment, takes EVERY supplement (if she pukes it out which happens in the first trimester make sure she takes another) and gets a very balanced nutrition (no crap food) good cheese with lots of calcium, food fiber and iron sources, etc if you have any money constraints at least make sure she goes on WIC, she can do what she wants with her body but right now she's sharing it.....

What happened is he met this girl on spring break. He started talking to her and dropped out of college winter semester his sophomore year. He moved in with her and got a job working for her parents. He complained all the time secretly how bad everything was and how they didn't get along even though they were engaged. It was not until they were almost married that he realized he was wrong.
My dad got back from vietnam and 21. He had a steady job as a carpenter, went to school part time, had his own house, and drove a 69 mustang. his wife divorced him at 22 and took him for everything he had. even his car.
If I were in your situation and I really loved the girl, I would of moved in with her first to see how it works out and to see what it's like to live with her. Were you really trying to have a kid or was it accidental?
If it helps I believe you will make it man, you just need a lot of growing up to do and you shouldn't be rushing into anything. no reason to.

I read Dadiator wants to become an air force officer, but:
I start my basic training as an infantryman this Autumn at which point I'll be in a 2 year relationship. I wouldn't even entertain the idea of engagement / marriage until after training (6 months) & after at least one tour (another 6-9months), all of this is 1-2 years away & me and the missus have zero financial ties as we're wanting to see how we handle the lengthy periods of separation.

This is the most sensible shit that has been said by anybody in this thread. If any of you really give a shit about the advice you give, then stop making a fucking joke about it, by telling the kid how fucking stupid he is and how everything he hopes to accomplish is going to fail.
Glad my ngr, you have dug a hole for yourself bro, no doubt about it. Kids are not pets brutha, they take full time supervison and an ass load of money to take care of them. Your time is now no longer your own, every second you have that is not spent trying to make money to support your family, is now going to be spent being a parent and a spouse. Your gym time will suffer, your body will suffer, your mind will suffer, and there will be times you have to dig deep to find your sanity.
Even at that bro, it does not mean you can not be successful in anyhting you wish to do, but it is going to be a matter of how strong you are mentally, physically and emotionaly. Being a parent is the hardest thing in life, it is also the most rewarding. Some of the very people who tell you how stupid you are will never experince the joy of being a parent, and for those who are so self indulged, that is probably a good thing. I had a kid young and it was not easy, but I would never have changed a thing, I love my oldest son, he is an arrogant asshole, but I love him. I hear he inherited his arrogance, I'm thinking from his mom's side of the family, but who knows.
Just always keep in mind, your life is about to change forever, you will never know more joy, and nothing will ever bring your more pain than kids. When they hurt you hurt, when they fail, so do you. The same is true when they succeed, and when they are happy. No more balling ngr, no more nights out with the hommies, its not about you anymore brutha.
