This is going to be an interesting one. The federal government is going to try and get rid of the Arizona law because they don't like it but using the excuse that it encroaches on their authority.
I think they are probably correct on the authority issue but hard to say there is anything wrong with the actual law - just who enforces it.
they are the same... oh except the part about profiling which we dont do in the USA.

The supreme court ruled years ago that states may uphold/enforce federal laws as long as they don't conflict (otherwise the supremacy clause kicks-in).

the 1965 civil rights act turned the south deep RED, the arizona law is gonna turn the southwest and Florida (which has a huge mexican, cuban, and puerto rican population) very blue. you just watch UNLESS the republicans stop this nonsense.

i'm not worried about any of that shit...we have proper channels for becoming a citizen or for getting a student or work visa...anyone that didn't go through the proper channels (like my fucking law-abiding ancestors did) should be unceremoniously tossed out on their fucking ass...fuck'em!!!

the average plumber salary is 39K.. my mortgage costs that per year and I'm a single guy. my property taxes on my house are 12K per year alone. so i dont consider that big jack.
i know a dude i played poker with who said he was doing very well though installing energy efficient gas water heaters thanks to the stimulus. he rakes in a few hundred per heater net gross installing for commercial businesses. but he owns the company, i'm sure he doesn't pay his employees very much. plus they have to go back and re-fill the heaters every 6 months or something.

What they need to do is work out a system, or enforce a system as the case may be, where the employers are responsible for sponsering the immigrants and fined heavily - like out of business fine - if they hire someone that does not have a proper visa and work permit.
If we need the labor, and we certainly do in some places (the oilfield in Texas would be shut down without Mexican workers) then make sure there are channels to get the workers in and out of the country - legally.
I have worked overseas on a work visa most of my career. Most countries have the labor laws in place to take care of this - it can be done.

Good. All az has to do is ship illegals to california or pay them. They are retarded creating some law that has a 99.9% chance of being defeated, not to mention the boycotts aginst it. If I were living in that state, i'd be pissed at my govt. A boycott is the last thing u need in a depression.

I DO live in AZ and I'm proud of what we are doing.......that law was written with an anticipation of this lawsuit.....it has more of a chance of actually winning than a lot of people know. Boycotts do nothing but make us even more determined than ever to stand up to the Feds - they are in the wrong here - not AZ.

easier...wtf?? my anscetors had to take a test...they were investigated...there was a waiting period...because some of them were of german descent, during WWII they weren't allowed to own a gun or even a fucking dog...they had a dog...the sheriff came to their fucking house and SHOT IT DEAD on the spot (and my grandfather and his brothers all served during WWII, one of them died on the USS Gambier Bay...they were allowed to die for their country, but their family wasn't allowed to have a fucking dog)...if that shit happened today, everyone from the ACLU to PETA would be so far up our ass, we wouldn't know whether to shit or wind our watch.

and my plumber's boat is bigger than my house...and i have a 4 bedroom, brick, two story with a full basement, a full attic and a garage.

Most plumbers I know make a good living. Union plumbers in chicago make over $45 per hr. In fact there are very few mexicant's doing plumbing, pipefitting, hvac/sheetmetal, ironworker. They are mostly painters,drywall, landscaping, laboring or anything mindless and they tend to boot it up as quick as possible and leave you a hacked up mess. I'm just speaking from experience though FWIW.

nevermind I grew up with no hot water or A/C, parents died when I was 15 and was on my own living in a 1 bedroom apartment working for a nickel above minimum wage in 100 degree weather until i was 19 and started my own business out of my loud apt in the hood, working 80 hours a week.

no i grew up in a run down hotel that was like 50 years old. the only A/C we had was a crappy window one that didn't do anything except make noise.
no hot water cause the landlord didn't provide it, not that we could afford the higher electric bill.

Up here all the Home Depots and next day flooring companies hire illegals for laborers and they're all hacks making 1/3 of what a English speaking certified flooring mechanic makes.
On top of it the owner of the companies and the corporations like big box stores are making BIG money off this cheap labor also. So in the end, it's not cheaper, and your money is NOT circulating in the economy.

You have to have some understanding for these poor people on the other side of the border....they are being bombarded with advertisements to cross the border every day. There is an active process of recruitment by americans to bring these people over here. They are simply providing the supply for the demand. But what they need to understand is that a couple generations of americans literally broke their fucking backs to elevate the wages of their respective trades and dismantle the old euro class structures. Now these mexicans come here and undermine all that work but let's please keep our eyes on the snakes in the grass that are responsible for it. Bottom line is that if a company enforces a policy of hiring only those with a SS card and/or U.S birth certificate......how many illegals do you think would be coming over here? I like to try to be nice to those guys, because if I'm ever in a situation where I need them, I want to be on the "friends" list, and not the "enemies" list.
I can get a US birth cert. and SS card for any illegal, easily and they would be issued legit, not fakes.
I try to stop buying the products of companies who knowingly recruit and hire undocumented workers - they also treat them like shit, part of me feels sorry for them. Maybe if enough people would do that....

If LE went around and spot checked some of these companies work forces and then actually held the companies liable for hiring "illegal labor".....than the immigration problem would more than likely naturally solve itself. It's just like if there was no rich people with property on the gulf about to get ruined, the oil spill would happen again. The only reason things are going to get tougher for these deep water drillers is that rich people's property values plummet when oil washes ashore and stays around for years. I'm all for getting them out of here. The problem is, if you attack it from the employer side you're giving employers free reign to dig into prospective employee's backgrounds. Today, you can't ask an employee about their marital status, personal life choices, desire for children, etc. etc. I'm pretty sure that here in TN, we can't even ask a prospective employee if they smoke or drink.
Over the last several decades, there's been an unmistakable trend toward preventing employers from screening employees too closely. Making them responsible for verifying an employee's citizenship gives them justification to undo all of that.

But just think this through your brain "for just a moment". If companies had to request verification and then had to send that information to INS, and we can do this in a millisecond now.......how many illegals do you think are going to show up that can fool that kind of system? Obviously illegal immigration is never going to go away completely because some people will be able to get that CIA caliber documentation.....but it would probably slash illegals in this country by 90% cause all that would be left are people that came here to be criminals.
