Alcohol while trying to loose weight

no. alcohol while cutting is like eating cake if the cake not only has tons of calories but also decreased my protein synthesis.

Alcohol slows the metabolism. Try to stay away from it.

I tend to have a glass of red wine once or twice a week though.

Everything I've read, along with my own experience, says NO alcohol, especially beer, while trying to cut or lose fat. Beer is a double-whammy since it has tons of carbs, and the alcohol causes the carbs and sugars to metabolize into stored fat. My motto as a former beer lover is "a beer a year is nothing to fear, but a beer a day will keep your goals at bay".

As 75th says, wine is LESS bad for fat storage, and it might be a good thing if you're at risk for heart problems.

If drinking stay away from beer. Lots of simple carbs that the body will not be able to burn and will store as fat. I would drink hard alcohol either on the rocks or with diet coke so that there is no extra calories to burn other than alcohol. Also, try to limit eating carbs and fats before drinking because if you can't burn it up before drinking your body will store it, since it burns alcohol for energy over carbs and fats. Best thing to do if trying to lose weight is to have chicken breast or casein protein shortly before going out and cut out carbs and fats.

Best think to drink if your going to is vodka club soda and a splash of cranberry... No sugar!

In case you're wondering, pot does not make a good substitute for alcohol when you're cutting.

The munchies will kill your diet.

Yeah stay away from the stuff.. Wait until you're totally shredded, then take a little time off to enjoy a drink or two..

i wouldn't recommend any alcohol, it kills testosterone production, is high in calories, and slow the metabolism.. If you absolutely MUST drink, the cleanest (lowest calorie) thing you can drink is vodka, flavour it up with some diet whatever..

But honestly.. It will kill your motivation big time.. Strict cutting requires a lot of focus, and it's really only worth it when yyou can see the goal points nearing.. If you drink, you're going to keep moving the goal posts (no matter what you drink) and it will mess up your positive thoughts in a big way.. Going to the gym, you won't see those goals getting any closer, and it will quickly become a grind, that will probably see you either giving up or getting frustrated..

I have been on a cut diet for about 5 months and recently started drinking one light beer after every workout along with a protein shake. I have read alot about post workout sugar/simple carb intake and have found through experience that simple carb/sugar intake right after a workout (in moderation) can actually assist you in cutting fat. Beer can be very nutritious if consumed at the right time and in the proper amount. Just my opinion but I have honestly been making better cuts while doing this.

This fukin blows big time... my girlfriend and I are having a babyshower this weekend and I'm on a CKD cut. Haven't drank in forever and thought having about 5 mini coronas would be okay. It being saturday and saturday being the first day of my carb up I thought it was fine. =/

Just do it dude. Jesus. Are you a bro bodybuilder?

Have some fun with life.

alcohol actually cant be stored as fat

u could drink vodka all day and never gain weight

the way alcohol make su gain weight is its burned before any other calories

hence if you drink vodka, anything you eat while vodkas stays in ur system will be stored, once all the alcohol is burned ur body will return to burning cabrs and fats proteins as energy

this is why PURE alcoholics are always skinny,

when i say alochol i dont mena beer and wine, these arent alcohol, im refering to spirits

to OP, alcohol doesnt spike insulin, so since ur on CKD you could drink vodka with diet coke and u wouldnt gain much weight

just try cut out fats few hours before you drink, and make sure u last meal is pure protein, and ull be sweet

next day u can return to CKD

Are you sure about this bro? I've read that 5% of all alcohol gets immediately stored as fat. Also that if alcohol drinking puts you over your calorie totals for the day it's getting stored as fat as well. Also about insulin, i've read that since vodka is made from potatoes it can be insulingenic.

yes im sure

read up and ull see alcohol cant be stored as fat since it doesnt haver the ability to,

if alcohol puts you over ur daily calorie intake, then itll not be stored as fat, BUT the food you eat while under influence of alcohol will be stored as fat since while alcohol is metablaised other foods with not be, and therefore they will be stored

this is a reason why u see beer drinkers and wine drinkers get fat, since their drinks are usually contaiing carbs etc and they eat food with them

while pure alcoholics who drink things like vodka and dont eat are always very skinny and have a very small amount of muscle mass due to alcohol catabolic state

alcohol molecule also has 7 calories, just thought id mention that, though it cannot be stored by the body

Thats some good info bro....

Kind of true, but they don't really eat at all either.

fyi, they are skinny because they do not eat, they just drink. of course you'll be skinny if you don't eat.
alcohol of any kind slows down fat loss because the body uses the alcohol as fuel, not the fat stored in the body as fuel.
