Whats your go to food?

What gets you threw the day or when it gets real hard. When you are really hungry or craving something tasty. What do you reach for that helps you threw that hard diet?

Or what is that food you always eat thats good for you and you could not do with out it?

Or maybe you don't have all the time in the world to cook. What is that food thats so easy and is always there. Helps you in that bind you get in some times.

ANPB with dried fruit mixed in - or broccoli or cauliflower with a little ranch. One is for the sweet tooth, the other for the crunchy craving.

Oh thanks! You just made me want that vanilla cranberry PB from Target!! :p

I gotta say I am pretty much the same, and when I am HUNGRY (and its between meals) I tend to just lean towards a big ole salad or steam up some veggies, as those will usually help me get by to my next meal. That's if I am dieting of course, now if its off-season and I am hungry in between meals I usually tend to go for some trail mix (ALWAYS been a weakness ha ha)

I can't live without oatmeal. Just love the stuff.
Sweet potato and brown rice, anytime. I'm a geek, I only put the best into this body... with a few exceptions.

I actually tend to be that way too quite often, sometimes I crave all that healthy stuff, just a LOT more of it!!

You ever tried oats, with mashed sweetpotato and chocolate protein mixed in? Taste like a BUTTERFINGER, so good! :p

Do you cook the oatmeal first, I presume? Sounds good!!

I like oatmeal and berries.
My biggest craving is always spicy food, so I just put crushed red pepper on EVERYTHING(except my oatmeal).

Every now and then I do with the sweetpotato mixed in and then stir in the protein powder afterwards, but sometimes (like pwo) I'll just throw the oats in a bowl with the protein powder and sweetpotato and when I go to eat it add minimal water at a time and mix it up thick like pudding! Both ways are yummy!

I have tried sweet potato mixed in with pp, however I'll add oats to it. It sounds delicious!

I put it on fish, meats, salads..... and I even put it on my oatmeal when I was preg, lol. That was my strange craving.

Actually if you mix your chicken in with your oats, and add stuff like red pepper and other savory seasonings (I like garlic powder, sea salt, black pepper, and chopped onion) it winds up tasting a LOT like stuffing!! :p

What the hell is wrong with you. YOu got some weird ass mixes. I am going to have to try them though. See if they are worthy of being added to my recipes.

Now that I can do. I need to dig into my recipe books and pull out the good shit for your girls.

You know how to make Protein frosting?

It has to be CHOCOLATE protein powder though if you want it to taste like a butterfinger!! :p

Last night I had PP with sweet potato and it was really good. I'm having it again tonight again,,lol!
Thanks SBT for the tip!

Chicken breast, oats, yams, nuts, peanut butter, egg whites, milk, veggies, steak, sweet potato - I eat these everyday.

Hey that sounds A LOT like that thing I made when I was staying with you, but we diced up angel food cake chunks in it!! Soooo yummy! I had forgotten how good lite cool whip and anpb was though thanks for the reminder! :p

I have to be careful with natty pb I keep it in the freeze in 1 tabelspoon portions in ice trays it is easy for me to overdose on it other wise I love it. Another great thing I find is cinnamon and egg whites also green tea with mint seems to help my sweet tooth. I know both cinammon and mint help a lot with cravings too as well as little sugar free gum.

egg whites... love egg whites... cannot live without egg whites... My bf calls me his little chick. If I crave something sweet I mix it with a little pure vanilla extract, a little cinnamon, a little nutmeg and a dash of splenda. If I crave something salty I just scramble them with some crunchy veggies and some hot sauce! hm hm good....

I do that a lot too, almost like a pancake/french toast lol!!

It's even good with some pb on top! :p

You people and your peanut butter, haha. :)

I LOVE egg beaters scrambled into a (Joseph's brand) Whole wheat w/ Flax wrap and some sriracha hot chili sauce (this stuff is AMAZING). If I am at work I eat as is, at home I add veggies...

My healthy splurge is cauliflower... I can eat that stuff all day long :) My bad splurge is watermelon.

I am the only person who like cauliflower in my house and I know the whole low carb diets use blended cauliflower as a rice/pasta/mashed potato alternative.... I've never actually tried it but it's definitely on my to-do list. I usually use a dab of spray butter, salt and pepper.. I just purchased those microwave steam bags but havent tried them yet... I got them for work.... what kind of garlic do you use? the chopped... fresh or spice?

OK, how do you whip raw cauliflower without getting hit in the eye by a chunk flying off? Is it "fresh - cooked"?

Place Cauliflower in a cuisinart food processor, add 1 organic garlic clove, salt and olive oil.
One of my good friend who's also a nutritionist is a raw food expert and makes great dishes. I'll ask her for the recipe and I'll post it.

Yeah to me it seems like it would 'mash' better after having been steamed? So looking forward to seeing the recipe too!

I'm going to give it a try,2.
Thands is really into whole, raw foods and by the way she looks, its working for her.
I stopped drinking coffee a few months ago because of some stuff she mentioned and it has REALLY improved my .....well, everything.

No, is supposed to be raw. NO cooking involved!
I'll post recipe later on.

Thanks, myway! I'm glad you followed through. With time you'll see how everything will improve even better..

Now, I am trying o think of something new. I already don't eat much processed foods and my water intake sky rocketed with cutting coffee. I'm considering cutting my wine back to once a week or so.... but that would be a HUGE move for me since I drink wine almost every night. Hmmmm......
or WAIT! Should I cut dairy? Whatcha think, thands? Which one first? Any thoughts?

Cutting the wine will make a huge difference, especially if you drink it every night. Try every other night and stay there for a while (like a month) then, cut another day until you drink it just when you feel like it. You will realize how much fog is in your (our) heads from drinking. You will think more clearly, have more energy and will notice how foolish people look when drinking every night. SOmehow your perspective will change in many ways. I hope you do!

I used to club quite a bit in my 20's, which goes with drinking. When I stopped, it was a rude awakening. Now I drink when I feel like it. Sometimes months go by without it.

OK, YAY!!!
I love goals. I will start with no wine tonight.

Good luck with the 'no wine' goal!! :)

I used to have it a few nights a week as well, but now i've only had it once since New Years!!

A few months ago, bottl every night. Now, I am at about a glass or 2 every night. Now, going to every other night. YAY!

Whoa. I just did the math. I drink about 12,000 cals in wine every month! NO!
I'm done. Seriously. 12,000 cals will make room for TONS of pb!

Oh I miss wine.... if I could be a wino I would. Seriously. I haven't had a glass in so long :( MMmmmm a nice Riesling would make me feel warm and fuzzy right now.

Ok, here it is!

Mashed "potatoes"
3-4 servings

2 ½ cups of cauliflower ground in food processor
¼ raw macadamia nuts ground in food processor
¼ cup olive oil
1 small organic garlic clove peeled
Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Mix all till looks fluffy

What's the word on carrots? can I have as much as I want?

NO. too high in sugar. High GI. Have it occasional if you like it alot. The only sweet vegetables I recommend are yams/sweet potato, butternut squash, parsnip. In that family. Besides, you will turn orange..lol!
