I can't believe they are allowed to even sell that shit. Let alone call it health food of any kind. Bro you got no clue what kind of damage that thing is doing to you.

I am about to do a huge ass write up about all the ingredents you see on the label of a protein bar.

I will be writing about each kind of ingredient, what is is,where it comes from, how it is made, why its in the protein bar,and much more.

Trust me when I say its not going to be pretty at all when people find out how bad it really is.

The best bars I ever found are chef jays tri o plex bars....def check them out...the peanut butter duo....minimal sugar and sat fat...low sodium....other flavors such as blueberry are good, but more carbs / cals than I would like for my goals

my goal is to not go into cal defiencey so i'm not as concerned about cals...the way i look at it is that bad cals are better than no cals, esp if you are working your ass off.
think that's fuct logic?

They are basically candy bars with 32 grams of protein. I'm not going to lie...I will have one on occassion. Its a cheat meal to me and I only grab one if I am stuck driving on a highway and its been over 3 hrs with no protein and a gas station happens to sell it. The chocolate cookie and the apple pie ones taste great, but they really are shit for you. Don't make it a habit brother. Its just unhealthy, regardless if it isnt affecting your look

The only thing better than a double whopper is a triple whopper.....with bacon

What about the Angry whopper.

This is getting off the topic......why hasn't bino tried your awesome protein bars?........Do you guys have any "Five Guys Burgers and Fries" restuarants? Best fucking fast food hamburger ever! I am wasting my weekly cheat meal on two of their double burgers tomorrow.

5 guys is fucking awesome.

I used to eat those Met-RX bars a while back. Applepie and the one with crispies and peanut butter on the top.

I had to drop that shit because of the sugar. Plus i'm trying to live by a new rule:

If my great grandmother doesn't recognize the ingredients, it isn't food.

i used to eat those metrx bars too, the taste is pretty good, but u can tell ur eating crap, loaded with sugar and chemicals, i really want to try need2's bars, i dont know why i havent yet

Care to explain?

The peanut butter duo has Minimum fat, maybe 2 grams of saturated, 28 grams protein, basically no sugar, basically no sodium

I sure and hell would love to bro. Please feel free to post the ingredients to a chef bar and I will give it my full attention and explain to everyone why its death in a pretty wrapping.

First I'll give the macros....just to clarify, this is for the tri-o-plex peanut butter duo bar...chef jay's bars vary greatly between the flavors, and i found this flavor to be best suited to my individual needs, not to mention it is one of the best tasting body building supplements I have ever tried

1 bar
298 cals
Total fat 10 grams, 3 grams saturated, 0 grams trans fat, no cholesterol
only 130mg of sodium (5% dv)
26 grams carbs; 6 grams fiber, 13 grams sugar
26 grams protein

Ingredients
Protein blend (soy isolate, whey concentrate, milk protein isolate)
natural grain dextrin, glucose syrup, whole grain oats, peanut butter, peanuts, peanut oil, vegetable glycerine, honey, natural flavors

Is every single thing conducive to optimal health / bodybuilding? No, certainly not, but pretty damn good bang for the buck

As a personal note, I eat both these and needto's bars

I really mico manage my diet, and like to keep my calories within about 100-200 of my goal each day. One advantage I like with these bars is that it easier to know exact serving size / macro content of these bars....

With needto bars....I love the idea of making them on our own, but imo tougher to portion out....who knows how much honey / pb I have in....

but need to, if you can give an honest assessment of chef jays, be greatly appreciated

Much props as always bro

The beast / Kat has me looking like one jacked dego!

All I really have to say is that I got a couple free bags of Needto's bars, and I will be purchasing more when these bags are done. Since I started Beast/Katan today, I figured that I would start a batch of the bars. I can't keep my hands out of them though. I will certainly be ordering more.

I have never tried them but their meal replacement used to be the bomb back in the day. I used to bump it up with extra protein and aminos.

I have been ignoring you waiting for you to post the real full ingredents list of the bars you are talking about. I went and got it myself though and here it is

Allergy Statement:
Contains Egg, Corn, Dairy and Soy. Manufactured in a facility that processes various egg, corn, milk, wheat, soy, nut, and seed ingredients.

Ingredients:
CJ Protein Blend (Soy Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate, Milk Protein Isolate.), Fruit Blend (Fruit Juice, Natural Grain Dextrin), Glucose Syrup, Water
Whole Grain Rolled Oats, Peanut Butter (Peanuts, Dextrose, Hydrogenated Rapeseed / Cottonseed Oil, Salt), Peanut Flour, Peanuts, Peanut Oil, Vegetable Glycerine, Honey, Natural Flavors (Peanut Flavor) Contains 2% or less of the following: Plum Puree, Lecithin, Monoglycerides, Salt, Ascorbic Acid, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Calcium Propionate, and Sucralose

Now do you still want me to tell you whats wrong with it or can you see it yourself. Of course you can see it man. WHy else would you have omitted so much from the original ingredients list?

Also lets just start buy saying that the label law goes like this.

You must put ingredients from most to least. And then if you take something like proteins and put them all together and call them protein( put what kinds) and you have a whole bunch of types as long as combined they are more then other ingredents you can put that first.

Now with in the ( ) yiu still must list the kinds of protein from most to least but the cool part id you do not have to tell anyone how much of each you have)

So now looking at chef jays bars you have guess what kind of protein first on the list HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA the same as every fucking god damn protein bar on the market. YOu bet ya SOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

then whey then milk....

NOw my little buddies. My best friends and pals. Since you know the laws now. Since we all know if i wanted to I could give you a protein bar with 26 grams protein in it and I can put

24 grams of that soy
1 gram whey
and 1 gram milk and then because of label laws I do not have to tell you that. All I have to say is Protein (soy, whey, milk) LMFGDMFAO AND ROTMFFL what do you really think is in that bar for protein man???? come on don't lie man be honest with yourself. soy protein is a fraction of the cost so just man up and be honest what you really think is in that bar.

Now this is just the tip of the ice burg bro. I been studding label laws for years and ingredients in food products for even longer.

SO would you like to know more cus i got plenty more. The bar (any damn bar) on the shelf is the same as eating a twinky

Hell so much so that I plan to do a full write up maybe even a book called "turning twinkes into protein bars"

AAAAH the hell with it I will finish the rest since I am up and ya got me going.

Glucose Syrup= HAHAHAHA some label tricks on this one. Glucose Syrup=Technically any liquid starch hydrolysate of mono, di, and higher saccharides. Again label trick. This could be corn syrup, High-fructose corn syrup, or a fructose/glucose syrup bland of any kind. Point being the fact that they chose to call it (Glucose Syrup) rather then its exact name shows and intent to hide something. Ether way what ever it is is more shitty worthless (very un natural) and no good for you in any way shape or form.

Canola= Man I am sick of this fucking oil
where does canola oil come from? Olive oil comes from olives, peanut oil from peanuts, sunflower oil from sunflowers; but what is a canola? There is nothing in the name enlighten us,

There are plenty of official Canola sites lauding this new "wonder" oil with all its low-fat health benefits. It takes a little longer to find sites that tell the less palatable details.

Here are just a few facts everyone should know before buying anything containing canola. Canola is not the name of a natural plant but a made-up word, from the words "Canada" and "oil". Canola is a genetically engineered plant developed in Canada from the Rapeseed Plant, which is part of the mustard family of plants.
Canola - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to AgriAlternatives, The Online Innovation, and Technology Magazine for Farmers, "By nature, these rapeseed oils, which have long been used to produce oils for industrial purposes, are... toxic to humans and other animals". (This, by the way, is one of the websites singing the praises of the new canola industry.)

Rapeseed oil is poisonous to living things and is an excellent insect repellent. Rape is an oil that is used as a lubricant, fuel, soap and synthetic rubber base and as a illuminate for color pages in magazines. It is an industrial oil. It is not a food. Rape oil, it seems, causes emphysema, respiratory distress, anemia, constipation, irritability, and blindness in animals and humans.

Rape oil was widely used in animal feeds in England and Europe between 1986 and 1991, when it was thrown out. Remember the "Mad Cow disease" scare, when millions of cattle in the UK were slaughtered in case of infecting humans? Cattle were being fed on a mixture containing material from dead sheep, and sheep suffer from a disease called "scrapie". It was thought this was how "Mad Cow" began and started to infiltrate the human chain. What is interesting is that when rape oil was removed from animal feed, 'scrapie' disappeared.

We also haven't seen any further reports of "Mad Cow" since rape oil was removed from the feed. Perhaps not scientifically proven, but interesting all the same. US and Canadian farmers grow genetically engineered rapeseed and manufacturers use its oil (canola) in thousands of processed foods, with the blessings of Canadian and US government watchdog agencies. The canola supporting websites say that canola is safe to use. They admit it was developed from the rapeseed, but insist that through genetic engineering it is no longer rapeseed, but "canola" instead.

Except canola means "Canadian oil"; and the plant is still a rape plant, albeit genetically modified. The new name provides perfect cover for commercial interests wanting to make millions.

Canola oil from the rape seed, referred to as the Canadian oil because Canada is mainly responsible for it being marketed in the USA. The Canadian government and industry paid our Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) $50 million dollars to have canola oil placed on the (GRAS) List, "Generally Recognized As Safe". Thus a new industry was created. Laws were enacted affecting international trade, commerce, and traditional diets. Studies with lab. animals were disastrous. Rats developed fatty degeneration of heart, kidney, adrenals, and thyroid gland. When canola oil was withdrawn from their diets, the deposits dissolved but scar tissue remained on all vital organs. No studies on humans were made before money was spent to promote Canola oil in the USA.

Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) is a rare fatal degenerative disease caused by a build up long-chain fatty acids (c22 to c28) which destroys the myelin (protective sheath) of the nerves. Canola oil is a very long chain fatty acid oil (c22). Those who will defend canola oil say that the Chinese and Indians have used it for centuries with no effect, however it was in an unrefined form (taken from FATS THAT HEAL AND FATS THAT KILL by Udo Erasmus).

Rape seed oil used for stir-frying in China found to emit cancer causing chemicals. (Rapeseed oil smoke causes lung cancer) Amal Kumar Maj. The Wall Street JournaL June 7, 1995 pB6(W) pB6 (E) col 1 (11 col in).

Compiled by Darleen Bradley.

Canola oil is a health hazard to use as a cooking oil or salad oil. It is not the healthy oil we thought it was. It is not fit for human consumption, do not eat canola oil, it can hurt you. Polyunsaturated or not, this is a bad oil.

Be Sure to also read this informative report written by leading health expert Tom Valentine, Canola Oil Report.

Go to Ask Jeeves yourself: Ask.com Search Engine - Better Web Search and type in (Where does Canola Oil come from?) and see what you come up with.

Vegetable Glycerine is a clear, colorless, and odorless liquid
Its used in soup, shampoo, and other cleaning agents. More man mad crap. This is prob one of the lesser evils though.

Artificial Flavors= I fucking love this one. This could mean anything.
The word Artificial says it all though I guess!!!!

Monoglycerides= man I am getting board already. Lets make it short. Its a shitty fat!!!!

Lecithin=

What is soy lecithin?

In the early 1900’s, the yet to be named ’soy lecithin’ was just a waste product produced during the “degumming” process of soybean oil. By 1908 the soy bean crushing and soy oil refining companies had expanded and they were having trouble disposing of the large amounts of foul smelling, fermenting waste product. Soy plants in Germany decided to name this waste product ’soy lecithin’ and looked for ways to utilize it. By 1939 scientists had found more than 1,000 different ways to use soy lecithin.

It’s important to note that solvents are used during the “degumming” process of soybean oil, so soy lecithin itself is likely to contain chemical solvents!!!!!!!!

I will lump all the last ones in together

Salt, Ascorbic Acid, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Calcium Propionate, Sucralose.... Shit, shit, and more and more shit.

LMAO , Needto , your such a dick:heart: I love you man.

This is a great thread.

I can see the headline, Needto busts open mega protien bar scandal!! Major supplement companies lose millions $$$.

Meanwhile back at EF.....
NOOB 1: "hey anyone seen Needto lately?"

NOOB 2: "No, not in weeks. but did you hear?"

NOOB 1: " no what?"

NOOB 2: "they found this huge body builder dude washed up on a beach with a Met-rx flag stuck up his ass!!"

they taste good. a little pricey.

i'll only get one if i'm on a road trip and it's in a gas station.

Next time I'm at a gas station and decide to go for the Met-Rx...I'll just grab a Hershey bar and wash it down with a container of milk.

Thanks for the info Needto, great stuff.

Okay, so when I am done reading this on sunday I will post up my initial comments

haha jk, thanks for the great info brotha....I'm going to read it in detail and try and form my opinion from that. And I was asking about the bars, b/c to my naked eye, they do seem very nutritional for what they are....perfect? Not by a long shot? But pretty off base to refer to as a twinkie bar...I think that is pretty dead on for many of the bars out there, but this certainly seems to be the lesser of the evils
But this is my view BEFORE reading in detail needto's analysis....so maybe I am off base

The things that are important to me are these

Total macros
Sat Fat
Sugar
Sodium

Probably in that order, but if any product had a ton of any of those, I'd certainly shy away

Like I said, thanks for analysis needto, let me do some further reading and post back....but this was def what I was looking for
