Older Guy wants to see the diference

New member
Hey Guys, I am new to this forum so firstly hello and thanks for reading!!
h
I have the following stats:

46 Years
205lbs
5`9"
between 18 -20% BF
clean bench 275lbs
inline DB Press 100lbs for 10 reps, i train solo without a spot.

I have trained for 30 years but in the last 18 months have trained with dedication to a proper program for 6 days a week, having a healthy diet, no alcahol or tabacco.

I am a security contractor working in troubled areas of Asia! I work a rotation of 13 weeks on and 4 weeks of in a military style environment. I have a strict training regime but over the last twelve months have started to feel the aches strains and pains of over training, and my joints, ligaments and tendons can now feel every rep i push. So i have had a cursory search into taking a test cycle to see if it will revitalise my body and boost my physical mass gains, as i have been stuck at the same body mass for over 6 months, this last rotation i have tried mass gainer powders various cycles of proteins and supplements, other than costing a lot of money I never seem to be able to push past my current status.

I also have the usual subcutaneous fat assosiated with my age that i cant shift at the bottom of my obliques (love handles as the wife terms them). despite lateral bends twists and a myriad of other ab and oblique excersises.

So guys i would like to see who steps up and can help in the advice department, i am going to get me something to try, my mind is set on this, i am not some skinny kid going through a phase... this has been a life long push for me and I need to start to see the gains i dreamed of when i started. If anything to help strengthen my joints and tendons. I only have a 4 week window before i am back out to work. and i start this period in a week or so..I would be willing to try and carry on something once i get back to work for a 12 week period, but initially i would like to see what affect it has on me after the first 4 weeks..

Thanks guys for reading, I welcome any comments.

An old Soldier..

Well I'm an "older guy" myself and you seem intent on doing a cycle, but I'd first recommend losing some more BF naturally before you begin a cycle. I'm 5'10" and was at just a hair under 220lbs a few years back. I dropped 40lbs in 3 months naturally before I began my first cycle (test e at 500mg/week administered 2xweek). I put on a good 20lbs of lean body mass 15 of which I kept.

Diet is crucial. How are you eating?

Simply Dave,

Thanks for the reply, firstly I have had to guess at BF there is a recent pic of me on my profile, diet is basically whats on offer, I mostly eat at military chow halls so it depends what they have in stock, i would say that 85% of the time i get good clean food. The rest is what ever they have to fill up on, such is life out here.

Breakfast:
Porridge oats with a scoop of Cassein or Whey Protein powder mixed in
4 Boiled eggs with yolk removed
heeped table spoon of cottage cheese
green olives
Low fat Natural yoghurt
Pinaple, grapefruit, melon.

Lunch:
Tunna/chichen brest wrap on wholemeal rye onions. low fat youghurt, apple bannana

Dinner
I go for white meet Chicken, Turkey or Tuna, Steak, I eat with that whatever green is on offer Brocolli, or green beans, esparagus, i try to get brown rice when on menu, i eat nuts seeds at night.

I can only get three meels a day, the rules out here, i supplement in between with mass gainer protein shakes, to try and get the calories on board.

Dave trust me when i came out to work out here i dropped 20lbs with a descent diet, i have done 16 week rotations out here where my diet has been absolutely flawless to drop pounds, which i do, but the stubborn areas just stick. I have tried to bulk over the last 14 weeks and my body shape and muscles have thickend as opposed to just putting on fat.. so i want to push on this theme, hence why I want to pack on a few more pounds say another 5lbs in muscle. Thanks again, for advice.

I'm an older guy myself, 50yrs old, and Dave is right about losing some more bf. at your age there are alot of options. Tes, deca, hgh all the goodies are available, find a good hrt doc, that will get you pharma grade juice and all the rx add ins you need. Anastrozole, hcg the right way. If your deployed to Asia now, stay strong when you get home find a doc that is cool about hrt and get on the grow train!

Well your diet looks pretty good. As for losing the weight about your waist, sorry to tell you this my friend, but there's no such thing as "spot reduction". It'll come off with time, but at our age it does seem to take a bit more effort and time. I'm just now getting to the point where my obliques and abdominals are "showing" and believe you me...I've had to be very strict in my diet.

Anyway, packing on 5lbs of lean body mass is easy. Like I said, for my 1st cycle I ran test e at 500mg/week. I was very strict in my diet (high protein/low fat/low carb) and packed on 20lbs while losing BF. In additional to my lifting regimen, I ran about 15 miles/week. HTH my friend.

Hey if your waist is getting thicker from working out stop using weights when you train your abs, only resistance you need for abs is your body weight, like all muscle groups weights are going to add size, abs are small muscles, they need reps reps reps no added weights love handles are a diet issue I understand your stuck eating like you have to. My waist line two years ago 35 Levi's I wear 32 Levi's now ( course my ass and legs blow out the seams) from changing diet and living habits.

I'm 46, started HRT. About 9 months ago, though I'm definitely no expert, I agree w Tec and Dave..I was about 245-247- wen I jumped on 200 mg/ml test weekly, as well as 2-35 iu's HGH 6 days weekly. Also vitamin b12 weekly. .though not sure, I'd estimate my body fat had to be at least 22-24 wen started?.. I'm now around 14.8%..abs are showing and have lost pretty much most of that lower belly fat you speak of. My diet is really tight, all my greens straight outta our garden, lotta chicken/seafood..no processed , no gluten...I ve worked out pretty much 5-6 days for this first 9 months, now gnna prob drop a day to get more rest/growth..don't kno if this helps you or not just wanted to share..btw, energy levels were very low per HRT..now feeling strong!

Gentlemen,

Thankyou for your comments and advice, I am living in Britain so I will go see a doc when home next, and I will start to rep out on abs. I am going to take both your advice.. I am going to try the test Simply Dave and I will try this for a 4 week cycle, to see how my body reacts.. Seeing as though it will be only for 4 weeks, i do not expect to see any gains other that any adverse affects.. will I need to add anything else to this as I stop the cycle in 4 weeks?

Oops wanted to mention I'm now weighing 233, my waist was 40" wen started and other day I bought a pair of 36" shorts that still have some sag to em!..I'm stoked, haven't had that size waist in many years.

when you are training, you need to train in the resistance level of training to help to lose weight... when you are doing lifts, do them on a stability ball or bosu ball so you are forcing your core to work and helping to get extra weight off of it... higher reps and lower weight... you need to be incorporating good amounts of cardio as well...

understand, with a body fat that is too high, you are at a much higher risk for estrogen conversion, and more problems with bp and cholesterol while running a cycle... you need to drop a bit more body fat first, which you can do with the proper training...

What kind of tes are you going to do? What's the mg/ml? And what's your planned dosages? If done prop. you will def see some results after only 4 wks. Your bf needs to come down to see max results but you'll still see results, how much all depends on the answers to the three questions.

what i've noticed is steroids don't do a damn thing with aches, pains, and having a beat up body. NOTHING!!! they help your muscles recover from workouts faster, thats it. look at all the threads about how many of us dedicated lifters are beat up!! we all are beatup!!

i can barely bend over and tie my shoes after my workout yesterday and I'm on cycle. so i think that you are overrating what steroids do. they definately will not turn you into superman.

what will dictate things will be your diet and training. thats it. steroids give you an extra boost but without a core to work with they are pointless. now you been working out for a while so i will assume without seeing a pic you have a good core, however i don't care how old you are your body fat should never exceed 20%, otherwise you gotta clean things up more.

totally agree with steve here... if your body fat is over 20% then there are problems that you most definitely do not have under control... simply burning more calories than you eat will help you to lose weight alone... there are flaws in diet and training with a body fat that high...

i also agree that steroids are not the answer to help with aches and pains... there are peptides and sarms that can help to a point with this but steroids are not the answer for that...

Guys, I am stuck for 9 months of the year out in desert conditions, I have no clue what my BF is, I did a guess at that and then added 5% so it's more than likely i have over inflated the guess, could someone look at the pic I have loaded of my upper body and hazard an educated guess. My legs are well developed and have no fat on them. I will be happy to load more pics if needed to assess BF, if someone is willing to have a guess at it from a pic, yes I know stupid, but again guys thanks for the advise, at present The advice is to up reps lower weight, but won't that loose the size in muscle I have worked hard to gain over the past 12 months.

18-20 %

Steve, I get it that steroids will not help alleviate the aches and pains..that would have been a bonus.
The time I have no idea what type to run as yet, I was hoping that someone could advise me on that and dosage.
Guys I am not looking to get cut up or ripped here, I just wanted to pack on a few more pounds of muscle to increase my presence in my work.
I am a fit guy who despite a bit of love handle action can still throw on a 60 lbs ruck, all the body armour helmet weapons and still run 3 miles under 30 mins in boots. I am not trying to enter any beauty competitions or spedo contests, my body fat comes and goes depending on how hot it is out here, as I said I just wanted to put on another 5 - 8 lbs in muscle, 1. So I am physically stronger, 2. So I have more of a blocking physique when I need to use it. So what my questions would now be what type of test? dosage to run for 4 weeks, anything else I would need to take to counter or reduce side orafteraffects? Sorry to sound abrupt, but I need answers on specifics now guys.. As my Ian getting close to my time off and need to get my order in.

I am 33 and whenever I do a cycle my joints get worse cause I start lifting more weight.
I use ghrp-6 and if I strain something it seems to be healed the next day. I also take fish oil and glucosamine for my joints.

I was in the military my self, so I understand your position, and your opinion.

But you should still cut down first. If your in the sand box, your diet will not be bad. So you obviously will have free time. You can run and hit the gym. So pick up the cardio! You could easily cut down overseas, then bulk up on your three months back and run a cycle.

ppgfreak,

Not in the military anymore, now private, I only get home for 30 days then I'm out again, constant cycle. I am not looking to cut or slim, as regards my frame I wanted to bulk more if anything. Ok guys I will end the thread here, you have all been fantastic on here with some thoroughly professional advice, though I may have been misread as I am not looking to get cut or ripped, that will be my fault as I was not clear in my opener.

I have decided not to take anything as it appears to me to be some kind of black art to understanding just the terminology, so disappointed to say the least. So as regards all your advise I suppose you have steered me away from possibly making a grave judgement error and losing my honor among the guys I live and work with. Again thanks for all comments and advice but this old soldier will crack on the hard way just like so many of you have suggested.

Dylan I will be in touch by priv message.

Again guys many thanks.
