hahaha...i was on my way into work for a while and i stopped by the state police barracks to shoot the shit with one of my state cop buddies for a few minutes and that's wtf he was watching too.

The thing that really impresses me is the grip endurance. For some reason I've always lacked in that department and it seems like a non issue for these guys.

google Dave Lipson...he's a bit bigger than 180, probably around 200-215, but puts up weight that rivals Ronnie Coleman. Probably exceeds Coleman in Oly lifting. Difference is he can go on a run right before and right after his lifts.
 
Mikko Salo, Rob Orlando and Stewart Handel can sling some iron too.

yep....and no dl suit or nothin, just a belt. Actually most of those guys are DL'ing 500 plus without a belt. What's sick is how good their cardio is for being that strong. Any of you guys ever try ring (no homo) muscle ups? Its sounds like a gay excercise until you see what it is. These guys rep those out then go do some oly lifting. You're looking at the future of fitness....bodybuilder style weightlifting is gonna go away once people see this stuff and the results you get from it.

I didn't run into anything like that but i did run into the know it all of human physiology that the instructors get brainwashed into. I mean I agree crossfit is the future of human health but I watched people who had pretty much never worked out in their lives get thrown into olympic lifting type wkts that were new and challenging to the lifelong lifters. It's like they have to act like that to justify the cost of some of these gyms..it's outrageous. And the next crossfitter that tells me humans were meant to do nothing but constantly eat meat is getting jaw rocked. That was the one thing that annoyed the shit out of me was the constant pushing of the paleo diet.

And there's way too much group mentality. If you push yourself during one of the wkts and have to take a quick breather you'll be called out even though everyone else is sandbagging it. That got old quick. When there's people twatting it out for 20 minutes and people who are leaving sweat outlines of their bodies on the floor every day...you'd kind of expect them to acknowledge that and leave you the fuck alone when you have to take a quick knee so you don't pass out. There is definitely cultish undertones to crossfit. It depends on the gym though too. If the dude was kind of a tool before he started a CF gym he's only going to blossom into an entire shed.

I don't do crossfit, I'm damn out of shape right now. That being said, I'd probably get in that kind of shape as quickly as a lot of people that consider themselves to be bodybuilders because it's such a different kind of workout.
 
bino is probably the best crossfitter here. I'm still 240'ish so alot of the wkts that involve some form of pullups are just a nonstarter for me. I can't do 3-5 rounds of 30+ pullups sprinkled in with the other shit. My legs are still way too big from plifting. That's these guys secret...they have ridiculously yoked upper bodies but skinny legs. How they still squat/dl what they do is beyond me but when you look at em they've just got no weight on em from the waist down. Their kipping style also helps, that's one of the things I don't agree with them on. I'd rather 8-10 dead hang pullups then kip away like a mad man for another 10-15. Since i have no inclination to compete with 160lb guys on metcon i alter alot of the crazier wkts. And then there's the gay medicine ball stuff i just don't do unless i'm doing a stint at the cf gym where you have no choice.

i like those wods except why burpees and pushups in the same wkt? if you're doing burpees right ur falling out of the sky and then exploding back up with the pushup....redundant no?
 
I don't do the pushup with the burpee, just kick the legs out then back in to plank.

Some do the burpee your way and leave pushups out.

another one is 10 to 15 kettlebell swings on the minute every minute for 20 minutes straight.

I like the workouts but I have no interest in going to the crossfit boxes, as they call their gyms...although there are some hot Crossfit boxes in this thread.

yep...and I really don't understand the cost. Crossfit gyms are barebones garages almost, ur lucky if you get a shitter to go puke in..you can forget showers and whatnot. My only guess is the crossfit liscense is so expensive they have to charge that to make money. There is one gym near me that offers $80/month pay as you go...best rate i've seen so far anywhere.

my reg gym is 150 a month but thats me the husband and the any kids under 25 in the house
free day care..indoor pool, idk...pry too much money still but I have orchids in my locker room
 
You're not paying for facility access; you're paying for group instruction. I don't think the gyms make that much but the Crossfit corporation is printing money. Go to crossfit.com and look at the schedule for certification testing; every one sold out months in advance. Reebok gave them a truckload of cash last year. Any fitness related business I would attach the word Crossfit on it and double your profit. You can setup a Crossfit gym in your detached garage for < $10,000 versus God knows what for a Gold's.

I do find it hilarious that Crossfitters are hell bent against "globo gyms" just being about getting big numbers when companies are tripping over themselves to profit off the Crossfit craze. Clothes, shoes, gyms, equipment, supplements, Paleo cookbooks,

Im gonna high jack this bish and ask what you guys think of doing a workout like the vid qt posted say once a week on top of my regular routine? I have a gym in my basement that works for that kinda stuff.
 
ya I figure it would be pretty intense, I can really only do that style workout one day a week since my gym is packed and some asshat would get in my way, and the only time I can lift at home is on my day off when nobody is here. midnight sessions dont fly with the wife.

switch it up...do crossfit style wkt one week, regular rest periods the following week. Doing crossfit everyweek will wear you the fuck down. These people you see in teh video's are just like professional bb'ers, they eat/train/sleep for a living. You can't do Ronnie Colemans wkts for more than a couple weeks, unless you're saucing, and same with these wkts....if you do them as rx'ed of course. And go to crossfit.com and get their wod....if i had the place to put bumper plates, i'd probably get a cage to go with em and drop my gym membership.
