Steve Jobs resigns as CEO of Apple, effective immediately

So why not make a higher profit by selling more for a slightly less cost? Is what i'm getting at.

I read somewhere the other week that if Apple made its products at the US and kept the prices level their profit margins would still be somewhere around 50-60% or so.

But yeah, econ 101. People pay for iPads at $400 so they see no reason to drop the price.

i see you don't understand economics very well

I'll be the first to admit that I don't know all the in's and out's of economics. To me personally, it just makes more sense to sell more of a product with a lower profit than less of a product with a higher profit. Especially when the majority is strapped for cash.

For instance, lets say joe blow is online looking for a computer and is just looking for the cheapest. That could be Apple if they wanted to.

And if i'm way off on this, then by all means, please do school this young grasshopper. :)

Were a big time consumer economy. We spend money we dont have on shit we dont need. Apple knows this, hence they know people will buy a $400 iPad if they want it even if they are having trouble paying their rent.

Thats why countries like China depend on us more than many realize. We (as consumers) are the main driving force behind the Chinese economic engine. Despite what retards that have no clue about anything say, China is not and will not soon be a consumer economy, have a thriving middle class, etc.

The manufacturing world takes its direction based on what the US consumer wants to pay for.
