Anybody here garden

I saw nanagiggles comment about gardening so I thought I would start a thread. We planted our garden this week. Tomatos, bell peppers, hot peppers, oregano, cabbage, eggplant, squash, cucumbers, corn and some sweet potatos. My criteria for what to plant was easy to pick, grows well in SC, and things that we like. Any other gardners feel free to chime in.

Yes!
Never had anything edible, just berries.... my broccoli was once washed away in a storm

I have grown oriental lilies, black calla lilies, fire colored gladiolas, white callas, last weekend got an awesome large pot and filled it with small blooming marigolds to keep my dogs away from a section of the porch (it's supposed to repel them and my french actually tried to eat them.....) this weekend I picked up some plants (tomato, white easter lily and purple hyacinth) then bought some seeds of miniature rose and blue morning glory for a trellis in my dog's kennels, also bought some callendula to try to get the dogs away again

I also just bought a book called black magic and purple passion, it is about ALL black flowers, I bought it so I can plan my black themed garden, I'm so excited!!!

I love growing from seed but I dont use lights or anything...

I actually bought a house and moved in just a month ago and now see all sorts of plants coming up from the ground... african lilies, weird vines, I'm gonna give them a month or so to see what they are

After a weekend of hard work, halt the plants in my garden died. Took them back to Lowes and they replaced them all. Replanted and ready to go. Hopefully my brown thumb will turn green.

I try, but historically I've not been too successful.


I've sorta fallen into the habit of just planting really hardy annuals each season like begonias, salvias, and impatiens. Those bastards are all pretty much Sulma-proof. I have successfully transplanted a maple and oak though, about which I'm really deeply gratified. I moved them March of last year and this Spring they've both really taken off.

wow...I wonder if they were diseased? If you used potting soil and watered them, the only reason I can think of for all of them to die so quick is they sold you crappy product.

That is exactly what I do. LOL. I have some tuplips. Thats about it ouside rosebushes and annuals

All their plants have a one year guarantee. I once saw a man return a weedeater that was a year and a half old. It had grass caked all up in it too.
