This week, my friend Alex Rogers, the owner of ProteinFactory.com, sent me some suggestions that you can use to design your own custom protein formulation for amazing muscular gains.
As you know, at ProteinFactory.com, you can mix and match proteins and flavors to create your own perfect muscle building powder. If you are new to ProteinFactory.com I highly recommend that you read this week\'s Elite Fitness News with my ideas on how to get started with your own custom blend and also Alex\'s article titled, "How to Create Your Ideal Formula." Then I hope you\'ll go to ProteinFactory.com and give custom formulation a try using the best and highest quality protein you can buy.
Here’s how to get started formulating your own protein blend.
1) Don’t use more that 4 or 5 proteins if it’s your first custom formula. Why? Because if you go higher than that you will never know what ingredients are actually doing what. It is easier to single out which proteins you like and don’t like if you use fewer ingredients.
2) Make the CFM whey isolate and the Super Bovine Serum your top protein choices. The CFM is by far the highest quality whey isolate available in the market today - highest in calcium, highest in protein sub-fractions, and highest in growth factors. And on top of that, it mixes and tastes the best. The Super Bovine Serum contains mega high growth factors - nearly 10 times the amount of CFM whey isolate and any other protein on the planet. If you really want to grow use the Super Bovine Serum.
3) Make sure that if you decide to use a flavor that you also get a sweetener. The flavor will not come out if you don’t use one. I personally take all my proteins plain. If I want flavoring I use chocolate milk like Nestle\'s or any other flavored powder that you can buy at the grocery store. 4) Generally the pre-formulated blends that ProteinFactory.com sells are for the intermediate crowd. (They have a good taste.) The Lean Gainer, PTF, Night, and Prosorben fit into this category. If you want a Night formula get 35% Aussie Caseinate and 65% CFM whey isolate.5) Here are some of my personal favorite formulas that I have made Formula A: 33% Colostrum, 33% Whole Organic Egg, 33% CFM whey isolate. This is an awesome mix. Drink it anytime, any place, any where. Formula B: 50% Maltodextrin 5% Super Bovine 45% CFM. I use this formula during and after playing sports high in cardio. It keeps me feeling good knowing that my muscles are not diving into a catabolic crunch. Formula C: 40 grams of CFM whey isolate, 10 grams of Super Bovine, 3 tbs of flax oil, Banana, Whole Milk, a Scoop of some sort of peanut butter and Ben and Jerry\'s ice cream. This is what I take when I’m bulking. |

There you have it. And now, here\'s Alex Rogers, "How to Create Your Ideal Formula at ProteinFactory.com"
1) First decide what your goals are. Do you want to lose body fat, gain weight, increase muscle mass, etc?
2) Decide what your budget is. Economic formulas range between $4 and $6 dollars a pound. If you decide to go with an economic formula you need to stick with protein like soy, wpc, milk isolate, yolk, maltodextrin, and flax. Most people buy formulas that range in price between $7 to $9 dollars per pound. This usually leaves you open for anything.
3) Decide how concerned you are with taste. This will determine the amounts to use for some proteins.
4) Decide when you are going to use the protein or MRP powder.
Let us create a formula for the beginner or first time user at ProteinFactory.com. The beginner is usually concerned with taste and mixability. So we will use a formula that tastes good and mixes well. I usually start with the CFM Whey Isolate as my base. I know that by using 75% the formula will mix well and taste good. Then I usually ask the customer, when will they be taking the protein supplement. Let us say for example in this case he is going to be taking it 3 to 4 times a day. My next thought is that I want to get some slower digesting protein into the formula. I will then suggest either Micellar Casein or Aussie Caseinate depending on the price the customer wants to spend on the formula. Let us say he chose Aussie Caseinate. I will make the rest 25% Caseinate to complete the order to 100%. I will then recommend two things. Number one, that he can get it plain and add his own flavorings. This is a good way to go because then you are buying 100% protein powder and not paying for flavoring. Let us say in this case he is going to be on the road and he doesn’t have time for this. I will suggest then a flavor with sweetener.
I am confident selling this customer this formula because it is exactly what he wants. A high quality protein powder at a good cost, good flavor, and great mixability. The next time the customer calls he usually wants to try different things to improve the quality. The next thing I would recommend is that they add 5% Super Bovine Serum and drop the CFM percentage down to make more room for adding more Caseinate. Next is to create a formula for the intermediate ProteinFactory.com customer. The intermediate customer is usually one who has tried many supplement companies protein powders and wants better quality at a lower price. I will then ask the customer the above criteria questions to determine what powders to use. Let us say in this case that they need a formula to take twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night. They already have a post-workout formula. They also don’t care too much about taste or mixability, and they plan to use a shaker cup. I will start with the CFM Whey Isolate, Milk Isolate, and Whole Organic Egg. I will use this as my base because it gives me a high quality fast digesting protein, an anti-catabolic protein, and a protein with super anabolic benefits and EFA’s. I will use a third of each one because the customer does not care about taste. |
|
The customer then tells me he wants to add Glutamine Peptides to the formula. I suggest the most you add is 5 to 10%, nothing higher than 10%. We go with 5% and take 5% away from the Milk Isolate. Making the formula 33% CFM, 28% Milk, and 33% Organic Egg. He also says that he wants the fat grams to be higher. And he wants to add flax. I recommend at this point that he gets the oil separately. Not only is this more economic, but it is much more effective for getting your EFA’s. Adding flax powder to a protein blend only adds a few grams a dietary fat whereas an oil adds 14-28 grams. Much more beneficial for its anabolic/anti-catabolic purposes.
Now, let’s create a formula for the advanced ProteinFactory.com user. This customer has been a ProteinFactory.com customer for a while and he wants a high quality formula but is moderately concerned with taste. This customer will be using the formula a few times a day, thus he want a mixture of fast and slow digesting proteins. He also states that he wants something different than his old protein mixture of CFM and Micellar Casein. I suggest the following. 10% Soy XT, 15% Super Bovine, 10% Milk Isolate, 10% Whole Organic Egg, 45% WPC, 10% Hydrolyzed 360 with Aminogen. Not only will this mixture taste good, but it will be an excellent change from what he has been using. The high amount of Super Bovine will definitely be a change to the system and something he has never used before. The hydrolyzed 360 is also a very unique protein to use. Being 50% hydrolyzed and with a very low molecular weight this should cause some good muscle growth. The high amount of WPC will also make the formula taste good while keeping the price down.
So there you have it! A small example guide on how to create a formula. And just remember that if you have any questions always ask before ordering. Alex\'s email address is [email protected] or you can IM him anytime during the day at sawboy2.
