Young People Joining Gyms?

frenzyFYTA

New member
spring break soon and i might just have to join a gym because my home gym just dont seem to cut it anymore.

I am only 15, would that be a problem when joining one, what should i look in for a gym etc.

price, hours they're open, that they have the equipment you need, and attitude towards stuff like deadlifting

oh... fresh meat... yum :) I just love spotting for those 15 y.o. boys-- they get a woody just watching us squat... too funny..

seriously... my only advice is join a real gym-- not a social gym (like Ballys) & get a private trainer for 2-3 workouts so your not wandering around the equipment looking lost.

good luck :)

LOL!! Easy there tiger, let's not scare the kid off quite yet! :D

At your age, just starting out, any of the larger chain gyms (Golds, 24Hr, World, Pure Fitness, etc...) will more than suit your needs I'm sure. The only thing I'd shop around for if I were you is price...see which one will give you the best deal.

lol i have expierience in the squat etc, but thanks a priv trainer might be a good idea. And Bally's is for women who want to say they work out but not do anything that might build muscle.

any more advice? people usually not mind if i asked someone to spot or help me out?

Heh, I'd go for one of those "low-impact" gyms if I were you. The power racks will always be open :D

When I worked out at 24 hour last summer, I would basically spend 45 min to an hour on only rack in the place and get no complaints or "can I work in's".

usually gyms will allow you a free day if your considering joining, so go workout at everyone your considering.

See which one you feel most comfortable at, best equipment, busy, etc.

what time do you plan on working out at ?

after school?

i used to go to a beautiful gym that was a ghostown from 2- 4 but absolutely blew up from 430-7 to the point that i would rather stay home and press siblings
