I could make that PG 48 watt amp put out 300 watts with caps and coils brah.

He was talking about power caps, which is basically an electrically charged storage cell that is used when the amp is pulling too much current and it boosts it back up.

Totally unnecessary if your electrical system is correct. I don't have one on my truck, and I can play it at full volume with the truck not running for hours at a time.
 
Cap = capacitor.
Provides a steady electron stream to the amplifer.
Always necessary in HIGH POWER circuits running off a single 12vDC battery.
This prevents lights dimming, and excessive draw from the battery during Bass/mid hits.

also, a power cap does not provide a steady stream of power. It's main purpose is to act as a "buffer" between the amp an the battery to prevent voltage drop under heavy load. Basically giving the battery a short lil break so it can keep up.


Again, upgrading your batteries, alt, and wiring is the correct way. Doing that means no need for a cap

I said steady stream of electrons.... Not Power.
preventing Voltage drop is a more accurate term.
Whether you believe in electron flow or hole flow. a capacitor is a place where the electrons build up on one plate and then flow through to the other plate after a predetermined charge (ie. 1 Farad).

Not having a cap and just raising running amps (by getting a bigger battery and alternator) of a vehicle is not efficient. Or cost effective, and dangerous on the stock vehicle electrical system. And there will still be excess current draw on said parts. And wear them out faster then normal.
