Yams

Can someone tell me the best way to measure for carbs, to I measure by oz or cups ( baked yams) I hear different ways and maybe someone can tell me what they do or the proper way.

What the break down is ex. 5oz no skin, 50carbs- something like that.

the ONLY way to get a proper measurement is by weight.

volume measuremens (in cups, for example) can be completely off since 2 yams of the same size can have completely different nutrient breakdowns - one might weigh a lot more than another (and thus carry more calories, carbs, vitamin a, etc).

a more salient example would be cheese. a cup of grated parmesan is going to have MANY more calories than a grated cheddar would because it is inherently a much denser cheese.

so if you don't have a scale already, do yourself a favor and get one on the cheap at target or walmart.

hope this answers your question.

It can be either measure in OZ. or cups, depending on your scale of measurement. www.fitday.com allows for different scales of measurement for the same product, take a look.
