WW's New SUMMER Log ...

sbt2082 said:
Hey you :wavey: COngrats on the awesome leg workout ;)

wow, thank you!! my legs (from monday) are still sore!! this is a good thing, but i may have pushed it yesterday. I ran about 2-2.5 miles in the morning. Then had another crazy day at work so after work I went to the gym, shoulders and triceps. Then I couldn't sit at home and think about how depressing work is so I went to the stadium to run more and do stairs. I FOUND A NEW RUNNING PARTNER!! Girlfriend of a friend, she's 6'1 college basketball player and just an awesome girl. So, about 5.5 total miles yesterday. Still need to stretch my calves out.

Strategic 'business planning' with the boss today from 5 PM to 6:30 PM - that's right - afterhours. Ek.

That's great that you found a running buddy. I really wish I could find a local workout buddy - that would really motivate me that much more. But till then, y'all will just have to do :)

My mom's foster-daughter had her baby today - I am an AUNTIE!!!!!

My 'boyfiend' Superman has a new movie out which I'll get to see at an IMAX Theater this weekend.

Pair Seeds with Your Greens
Cruciferous vegetables—the family that includes broccoli, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts—contain cancer-fighting components. To make them even more powerful, sprinkle sunflower seeds or mushrooms on them. These items are chock-full of the mineral selenium, which has been shown to increase the cancer-fighting power of the veggies.

Stopping in to say hello! Haven't told you that in awhile :wavey:
Way to get back on track!!! and congrats on being an Aunt to Miss Alexis!
I want a boob job, Uhmmffffff

LOL - I met w/a doctor in Westchester. It was great and I'm about 90% sure I'm moving forward with it. Not outrageous - Just better than what god blessed me with (and most of that I lost when my weight).

How are you, lady?? Pics are looking fab, I am so proud of you!! :) :)

Yeah Aries! I am excited! Ending this job is good for something, I guess! So, work - it's surprisingly good & busy around here! I moved out of my office into a cube on the floor. It's interesting. It's not a normal cube, it's about three times the size of our normal ones. It has some privacy screens, some clear plexiglass walls - and room for two chairs (visitors). I call it my fish bowl and I love it!! Other interesting obsessions I've had lately-
aisde from my fishbowl ...
hidden valley ranch light - on everything!!
benji & donielle on 'so... you think you can dance'
sugar free cool whip (good change from anpb)
baby alexis
my ten dollar bathing suit from wal-mat
running - good time to think!!

7AM, whey shake with unsweetened soy milk and blueberries and ice
10AM, cheerios and ezekial cereal mixed togetherwith unsweetened soy milk, coffee, and about three bites of stale coffee cake

9 PM, dinner somewhere.........

Wow - Good memory! Thank you for asking. Mommy is good. We tweaked her diet, got her on a good multi-vitamin, and co-enzyme Q10. She was on some heavy-duty antibiotics for her Lyme's Disease, so I asked about acidophilus - Her doctor agreed it was worth a shot to help restore good bacteria - in her tummy and on down. It's in pill form that also contains a fiber blend. That with added fiber in her diet has helped her as well.

Speaking of food - what is the one thing you're looking forward to most??? :)

It was raining out, I had no choice!! I don't appreciate their music at 12, 1 or even 2 in the morning - so I kinda of considered it payback.

Orange roughy and tilapia are my favorites for the same reasons. I'll cook it usually with a vinaigrette or EVOO with whatever spices I reach first. And caramelized onions are good w/it too. I've also done it with some lemon juice, a bit of butter, and a lemon pepper blend. What about you, Chef-Bigg-R-T? ;) ;) ;) Change is good - I'll try whatever ideas you can post here!

I love talapia also, same reason as well, lol....I just use pepper and garlic powder and lemon and broil it and I was getting bored with it, so I thought I'd pick your brain. I'm gonna do steak fajitas in a couple minutes.

Tell me about annoying tennants......I used to live above a 21 year old kid a few years ago and the little bastard would smoke and have friends over at 2 and 3 AM all week long, I almost killed him a few times and once he even told the landlord on me, but the landlord knew what a punk he was so all was good for me.

Are you training before or after your steak fajitas? Sounds yummy! Jens mentioned salsa... :)

The people in the condo downstairs are terrible!! But they aren't 21, they are def. older, so I don't know what they do for work... The music sometimes sounds like it's from a bad porno ~ so maybe she's 'workin it' at 2 or 3 AM. I joke that if I looked hard enough, I'd find her on the web somewhere.

Maybe she has a web cam, lol.

No, fajitas were post-workout, I got done with work at 4 today, so I was able to workout a little earlier than usual, It would be a disaster if I ate a big meal pre-workout.....I just had a power bar and water before, power bars are terrible though and after reading the label, I should just eat a Snickers.

:wavey: Hiya WW!!

Glad to hear that your mom is on the upswing :rose:

Also glad to hear that you might be setting a date to take posession of the twins (o)(o)

I haven't lost much of mine but I've only lost about 3% bf so far. I've always wanted to be a "B" cup.

thanks for the note and thoughts on my mom. i wanted to ask treil how her mom was doing, too!!

3% is great progress! And if it hasn't effected the twins, even better, lol...

the twins (o)(o)
if i go for it, it will be over the labor day weekend in early september. i just want to make sure everything else in my life is in order. You say a "B" cup but everyone's perception of a B is different. I used to be what I consider a C and I'd like to get back there. And nice and happy and perky like 26 year old 'twins' should be, lol...

What kind of festival?? Greek, Italian or Polish?? Love all their fried doughs..... :p

Leftovers - in your opinion, how long do they stay good? I'm talking cooked veggies, meats, chicken, and fish? I can't consider more than 2 or 3 days, but I wanted to get everyone's opinion. It can be tough cooking for one or two!!

Well, I'm a little bit of a psycho with this, lol, if something is more than 48 hours old I won't eat it....but I am sure it is probably good at least for 3 days, some people even go further than that.

Properly stored & properly reheated, they will keep 7-10 days (or more) - and I know this based on a Food Safety/Food Born Illness Univ. class......

Once you cook something - you can always put the portions in a full meal style in a container & freeze it - that way, you have a full meal already prepared, ready to go....

Yeah.. I used to be this way too... then I had to get over it real quick when I had no time to be cooking chicken every day to accomodate how much I Was eating....
So I have eaten cooked chicken up to 7 days in the fridge, ww pasta and brown rice drained REALLY well 7 days. Now I have also stepped over some pre existing boundaries since this diet down.. like eating chicken that has been sitting out of a fridge for more then 5 hours.... Ore egg whites that are sitting on mydesk in a container after they are room temp, or just drinking them. I guess when you look at food as fuel and not for 'fun' you do things you typically would never dream about doing. Ohhh and I have a VERY sensitive stomach too!!!

Yayyy!! That's VERY good news Treil!!

Jens/T-

When it comes to leftovers, do you feel different between something you cook yourself and something you might bring home from a restaurant?

WEDS UPDATE

The rain and tornado watch killed any urge to go out and eat fried dough. It's not a bazaar, it's a real traveling carnival, complete with 'carnies'!! But - My sister brought over Tostidos. We all know this is a big weak spot. I took 10 chips out of the bag - approx one serving - and was done after that. <pat on back>

Workout rocked! I went to 360 lbs on the leg press for 12. Also did plate loaded leg extension machine, one legged lunges using the smith machine, two calf exercises, and about 15 minutes of abs. No cardio.

THURSDAY

6:15 AM ~~ Cardio @ the gym
20 mins HIIT on Precor Elliptical ~~ HR Range 135 - 169
20 mins varied incline on Precor Treadmill ~~ HR Range 122 - 136

9:30 AM ~~ Breakfast
Cheerios mixed with Ezekiel Cereal, splenda, skim milk mixed with vanilla whey
Coffee

1:00 PM ~~ Lunch
Field greens, can tuna, emeril's balsamic vinaigrette
Lipton Citrus Green Tea (LOVE THIS!)

4:00 PM ~~ Snack
Cottage cheese, apple

6 or 7 PM ~~ Dinner @ Dad's.
We're GRILLIN!!

Yes, definitely.......leftovers myself I let "keep" for a longer period of time than I do restaurant leftovers - those I don't allow to "keep" longer than about 5 days......

Edit: AWESOME on the workout!!

Great job on the chip control! I get the same problem... chips and salsa... YUMMMMMMMMM
I agree with Jens.. but actually I'm more meticulous with restaurant food usually throw out after 2 days in the fridge...

Absolutely, I am much more confident/comfortable with things I made, I know where the ingredients came from, how long they were kept before they were cooked, how they were handled, etc......Also, I have to be honest, I can't remember the last time I didn't finish everything at a restaurant and actually needed to bring it home.

Great job on the leg press too.

T- Ah, yeah. I guess I forgot who I was talking to. I'm sure when you eat out, no one at the table is taking home a doggy bag.... :) ;) :) ;)

I was actually thinking about magazines that recommend for us ladies to request when ordering for 1/2 the entree to be packaged up, so the 'temptation' never hits our plates... Therefore there is no way to overeat/overindulge.

And thanks - I was happy w/ the leg press!

HIIIII!!!!

Wanted to say hello and GOOD JOB on the leg press :) !!!!!!

*Hope everything is going great for ya!

ok I'm slobbering on myself now..

Yup - One of girls brought it in for me today because yesterday I said they were my favorite. Normally I would resist but wow!! I've been relatively low carb for the past 5-7 days (bathing suit all weekend!) so that corn muffin was my 'carb up' for the week.

WEEKEND UPDATE
Hot Hot Hot! The beach was great & I managed to stay on-track and eat clean. I actually went out...yep, to a club... on Saturday night & quickly realized why I do not do this often. Probably would have been more enjoyable drunk, but I resisted and didn't drink a drop all weekend log. Yesterday was a 'rest' day that only included a trip to Sam's Club and a .80 mile round trip walk to Stewarts for some iced coffee. And I ate some Kraft Mac & Cheese... What a disappointment. Not as good as I remembered it to be. Also enjoyed an incredible night of sleep last night!! Mmmmm, great way to start the week off!

MONDAY

7:30 AM ~~ Slept in! Whey shake with 4 oz skim, 1/2 banana

10:30 AM ~~ two small wheat/gluten free waffles, toasted with a thin spread of ANPB. Coffee.

1:30 PM ~~ Field greens, tomato, green pepper, can tuna, balsamic vinaigrette

4 or 5 PM ~~ 3-4 oz low sodium turkey, green pepper, baby carrots

5 or 6 PM ~~ workout, legs

7 or 8 PM ~~ 4-8 oz chix breast, broccoli, brown rice

It was HOT this weekend, and it is even worse today. I love Kraft Mac and cheese, lol.
Is that Stewarts as in Stewarts Root Beer, that drive-in burger place??

Way to stay on track!!
I know what you mean about being disappointed by food... Although... I tell you Outback after the show was far from disappointing it was exactly what I needed :chomp:
Your meal spread looks good! I can't wait to get my carbs up and get more veggies in!!!

Treil!! I am so glad to hear you enjoyed Outback - You so deserved it!! Do your carbs include mac and cheese, by any chance? ;) I really thought it was gross - bleeeech! T - I really expected more from you & thought you made better taste than that! If I do it again, I'll def. put the effort in and opt for the home-made kind.

It was HOT this weekend, and it is even worse today. I love Kraft Mac and cheese, lol.
Is that Stewarts as in Stewarts Root Beer, that drive-in burger place??

Hmmm, no - I don't think so? They do have their own root beer, but I walked to Stewarts as in the gas station/convenience store with their own line of dairy products, soda and stuff. Maybe it's an update New York thing though - and I know what your definition of update is so...... ;)

What you're mentioning sounds cool. I'm picturing it old-school though, with waitresses on roller skates and stuff.

Yeah, thats exactly what it's like, except no roller skates though, lol, but they bring your order to the car.... And, I know all about my weenie definition of 'upstate'.

I love it! It sounds fun - wholesome. What has happened in even the past five or ten years? I felt so so so old when I went out over the weekend. And even 'upstate', there are way too many 16-21 year old girls who are super-chunky!! Wearing hot pants and belly shirts are not your right, but a privilege. Someone must tell them that binge drinking messes with your estrogen levels and may make you retain belly fat.

At the other extreme, we have the juicers. There are also way too many 18-25 year old guys with smaller builds, but a TON of muscle. I wasn't impressed with the True Life "I'm on Steroids" Special, but the guys in this club were poster children for this MTV Episode.

I know those stores....I drive by one in Queensbury or Whitehall, whichever town that is.....never stopped in tho....

Nope no mac and cheese...
If I do mac and cheese it would be WW pasta with parmesan sprinkled cheese melted on top for the better version.... or the fattening would be lots of sharp cheddar cheese. Not into the box mixes... Everything tastes better from scratch and out of the kicthen over a restaurant most times... But that bleu cheese crusted steak from Outback... Oh myyyyy!!!!

MONDAY UPDATE
No gym. Visited the Acura dealership to test drive the TL.

TUESDAY
2:00 AM ~~ Wake up with congestion and sore throat
6:30 AM ~~ Feel horrible because it’s been three days since I’ve last trained. Two Cardio Breeze
6:45 AM ~~ 2.5 mile run
9:30 AM ~~ Finally feel like eating breakfast. Two small gluten/wheat free waffles with one tbsp ANBP. 12 oz iced coffee, two chunks of fresh pineapple (yum).
12:30 PM ~~ spring mix and iceberg, 4 oz turkey, balsamic vinaigrette

Currently ~~ slowly munching on an apple and sipping hot tea

4 or 5 PM ~~ bell pepper strips, 3 oz turkey

6 PM ~~ workout, shoulder and triceps, possibly more cardio

7 or 8 PM ~~ one or two 100 calorie Boca burgers, veggies or salad

Girl if you are sick, you prolly shoudn't workout .. your body & its cells need the energy used to workout to heal ... it may aggravate things if you train while sick ... :rose:

feel better

Bunny, thanks. You do sound exactly like my mom though. :)

I'm honestly not sure if it's a real legitimate cold, or if it's just the extreme humidty and then the A/C drying me out. I feel better now than I did this morning. I'm going to try the gym & see what happens.

One thing I've tried for "not feeling well" is Emergen'C - it's a packet you mix with water with all sorts of vitamins in it....really helps!!

Totally! I have that at home, but here in the office I have 'Airborne' - the effervescent formula in Lemon Lime. Not as tasty as Emergen'C, but it gets the job done. Have you heard of it?

I have, but have never tried it cuz the Emergen'C is cheaper.....

TUESDAY UPDATE
Feeling ok! Went to the gym for triceps and shoulders. The juice was flowing last night! My new gym is pretty small, very quiet, very clean and brand new. Mr-New-Member-I'm-A-Total-Juicer didn't let me get through two warm-up sets before he made his move. Being the brat that I am, I just smiled and pointed to my headphones. He got me later though, and we chatted about his hometown, his job, his mercedes, his muscles.

SHOULDER DUMB BELL PRESS- 20 lbs x 2 warm-up sets, 25 x 16, 27.5 x 15, 30 x 10
FRONT & SIDE LATERAL RAISES w/ 8, 10, 12 lb dumb bells

DIPS - body weight x 11, x 11, x 9
Tricep kickbacks, many reps with 10 lbs
Overhead dumbbell extensions @ 30 degree angle
Close grip bench press @ 95 lbs, 105 lbs
Overhead cable press thing using rope attachement

Went home, ate two boca burgers (and yes - I do know the difference between a 'real' burger and a boca burger, but I had to work with what I had you big dork!!) and salad and we cooked the ears of fresh corn-on-the-cob my sister brought over. Then we went out for ice cream :D

WEDNESDAY
7 AM, 170 calorie detour bar & coffee

10:30 AM, two small gluten/wheat free waffles, one tbsp anbp, drizzle of sugar free maple syrup & coffee

1 or 2 PM, spring mix w/green pepper, grape tomatoes, can tuna, sugar free jell-o

4 or 5 PM, 2-4 oz of turkey, celery sticks, cardio breeze

5 or 6 PM, Squats, lunges, 60-90 mins cardio

8 PM, chix breast w/sauteed veggies or my famous cajun blackened green beans, brown rice, ice my knee!

What is this famous cajun blackened green beans? I have half a bag of green beans here and I'm not sure what to do with 'em. I realize I am a french beans kinda gal and green beans ain't the same.

I LOVE GREEN BEANS. If you take a piece or two of bacon or sliced smoked sausage... It should be a little greasy, so you don't have to use any other oil. Fry it up, remove all the excess grease, add chopped onion, whatever seasoning and/or garlic and/or hot sauce that you want, and the green beans. You could add a tsp or two of margarine if you need it.... Stir well and often to prevent scortching. Simmer over low heat till beans are extremely tender (approximately 45 minutes if you are using fresh - you could steam or microwave first and then dump them into a frying pan if you wanted to).

If you want to eat 'em cold, my mom makes them with 2 or so cups water, 3/4 cup vinegar & a dash sugar or splenda with
1 tablespoon crushed mustard seeds
lotsa garlic - 4 cloves ?? thinly sliced
bay leaves - 2 or 3
dash salt and tabasco pepper sauce
1 pound trimmed green beans

In a saucepan, stir together the water, vinegar, sugar, mustard seeds, garlic, bay leaves, salt and Tabasco sauce. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 5 minutes.

Add the beans. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes, until tender-crisp. Then dump the beans in a shallow dish and cover them completely with the vinegar mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Serve cold.

I am SO posting this in the recipe thread!! :p

That sounds awesome. I will have to buy green beans at the farmer's market tomorrow. Only thing I'd change is that when I am prepping it, I'll just eat the bacon/sausage instead of discarding it, lol.

Thanks girls/guys! I mostly stick to the basics (quick & easy) but I'm a good cooker. :)

Jens, if you go the recipe thread, please make a note that this recipe could require extra bacon if T is around. ;)

I just cooked up some green beans that Mandi had left...
1T olive oil, 3 garlic cloves
Add 1lb ground turkey meat, 16oz. green beans,
1/2 cup walnuts after meat is browned
served over WW pasta. I added some hot stuff for a kick but it was yummy :)

95 x 2 warm up sets
135 x 14
135 x 14
155 x 14
185 x 10
205 x 8

Feeling 100% until I tweaked my knee on the treadmill - a weird quick hyperextension w/a pop. Switched to the bike after this happened.
TREADMILL - Two minute intervals alternating 6.8 MPH flats and 3.8 MPH inclines, total time 30 minutes
BIKE- Random program, total time 20 minutes

Went home & made a big salad with grilled chix breast, grape tomatoes, peppers, onions, feta. No green beans after all the hype yesterday!

THURSDAY
6:45 AM - 30 minute power walk
7 AM - whey shake w/half banana and skim and ice

10:30 AM, two pieces Ezekiel toast w/4 oz turkey breast, mustard

1 or 2 PM, green beans (!!) with one 100 cal boca burger

4 or 5 PM, apple, whey shake w/water, cardio breeze

5 or 6 PM, biceps, back, 20-30 mins cardio

8 PM, dinner, ???

Those are really, REALLY strong squats, and 6.8 on a treadmill is no joke either. Nice workout.

However, you know my opinion of Boca Burgers, lol.

The knee is okay. I walked instead of jogged this morning. I actually ice it after almost every leg workout, just as precaution. I think thats what you meant - If not, tell me about ricing? ;)

And how was your interview?

Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

Basically, don't aggravate if it's paining you and ice it like you're doing....

Guess you saw my post in my log?? Interview was meh - hard to read how I did....was thinking last nite of how I could've answered certain ? better than I did.....

Jen, thanks! I hadn't heard that before!

I am pretty sore from squats on Wed. I got on the precor elliptical last night to stretch out - but ended up having one of my more intense sessions on this machine. Intervals, alternating 2 mins @ resistance 6 and 2 mins @ resistance 16. It was not a pretty sight when I got off... One of the girls at the desk politely brought me towels - not singular, but towels as in two of the bigger size. :)

THURSDAY UPDATE

Nice back and bi workout. Cardio rocked last night too. I am sore all-over today! Since the forecast says rain all weekend, I am tempted to schedule a massage, but I'm not sure my budget wants me too, ha...

I ate an anpb and sugar-free jelly sandwich on Ezekiel toast last night for dinner. With a whey shake made with skim milk. I was so full after!! I did sneak into the fridge for some strawberries before bed. Overall, yum. A good night.

FRIDAY

6:30 AM, vitamuffin and 48 oz coffee

10:30 AM, detour bar

1 PM, ordered @ work. from this all-natural, wheat grass type place. They do a salad trio and I picked Curried chicken with walnuts & raisins, hummus w/pita chips and the veggie medley.

5 or 6 PM, pick up new car

7 or 8 PM, dinner somewhere.....
