also check out the barcode app, which uses the camera to scan barcodes and will pull up google with stores that carry said product.

i don't know what the voicemail talk is.
the google talk i was referring to is where you push the button on the side and say "elitefitness" and it brings up google results for elitefitness. way easier than typing. you can also use that to say an address and it will bring up google maps and give directions and satellite views.

Me too.
It's been so brutal getting off Macs for me. Every time I'm ready to part with my iPhone (95% due to AT&T), my Windows machines start screwing-up and I decide to cling to my last vestige of Apple. I know the products aren't related, but I don't think I can take another messy conversion.

How's the cost of the data plan to be able to use said awesomeness on the phone?

i imagine its comparable to an unlimited data plan on any other carrier.
How's the camera quality on the phone? I use a DSLR for all my kid picks but I want something to also take quick snapshots and email them to my folks on a regular basis. I don't pull the pics off my DSLR that often.

Mine's the best phone I've ever had (I have the Motorola version). It's the first phone with which I could actually go on the internet, and with the Yahoo Mail, Facebook and eBay widgets, it's quicker and easier for me to go check something with the Droid, than sitting down and going on my laptop. Although I'm a big Apple fan for quality and reliability reasons, I never got an iPhone due to some limitations it has, such as problems picture messaging people who don't have another iPhone, etc.
There are three things that the Motorola Droid could improve: Battery behavior, micro-SD card is inconvenient to remove & reinstall, and poor phone voice quality. The batteries have a mind of their own, and sometimes last 3 hours or sometimes 2 days. It's more than just how many apps are open, or how much talking. It's something weird about the battery charge indicator circuit. And the voice quality sounds kind of like the astronauts on the space shuttle talking over the radio, but I'll put up with those problems since the rest of the phone is outstanding!
It's saving me a fair amount of money in things I used to have to pay for elsewhere, such as the traffic maps. I had a device called the TrafficGauge, which is leased from the State of California for $100/year. I canceled that, and I'm going to cancel my USB internet broadband card, which I used for my Netbook at $70/month.
And one more concern: I haven't dropped it YET. It has a large LCD screen, and I have the feeling that it won't survive much of any impact. It's insured, but still I don't want to break it.

They solved that, but it's the picture messaging from an iPhone that stopped me from getting one. As I understand it, you can only picture message to another iPhone. So in order to send a picture from an iPhone to a non-iPhone, you have to eMail it to their eMail address. Not good if you're at a swapmeet and you want to send a picture of a rare car part you found, to your buddy to see if it's the one he needs, and he has to go home and get on his eMail to see it.
There was talk of AT&T fixing that, but I don't know if it's happened yet.

I also use my camera TONS. The camera is "okay" but you should be just fine doing that. I take TONS of pics to email and post on facebook and I'm happy with the camera...but I've had better thats all.
