Would you still live in the same city if it weren't for the Job/and or family?

hell no! My husband cant get transfered to another state and even if he can, there is no guarantee its gonna last, plus my parents are in MI too and I just cant leave them here on their own when 1. My mom is helping with the kids 2. They came here because of me

the only shitty part is that there is a girl waiting for me in another city, reducing my singlehood time to zero :( gonna have to take steps about that too..

What don't you like about MI? Is it the climate?
 
I'm from the east coast and live in Utah. Fucking Utah. I mean, it's beautiful here, I love the fact that some of the best ski resorts in the world are literally 15 minutes out my front door, and my house would probably be 3x what I got it for anywhere else....

But not being mormon in the mecca of mormontasticoramavitchness? Not the most fun I've ever had.

I have a good friend transferring to Salt Lake City. He lives the quit married life so maybe he'll fit in.

Dood, the non-momo's are really non-momo. He'll love the ass, but hate the lack of culture. I used to joke the SLC looks like a photo negative of philly. No brosephs, no trash on the street (which is good), no nothing.

no, I am used to 4 seasons and dont wanna change that. Eventho the winters are extra harsh, the summers extra humid and the neverending construction doesnt let you drive in fucking peace....Its probably cause I am used to the city life - have stores everywhere near me, having where to go without the need to drive 1 hour or more to a nice place (like going hiking, or visiting museums, or just plainly go up on the mountail and have a picnic with fresh spring with ice cold water right next to you...)

honestly I would have to say my area is safer than Detroit.

I was not even trying to compare those 2, I just hate it when lets say, weekend comes around the corner and you find yourself not knowing where you can go to change teh one and the same thing that you are doing

No, once the kids are out of the house, we will probably keep the house here, but live somewhere else for more months out of the year.
 
Hellll yeahh. You can't beat Santa Barbara's (CA) weather with mountains and beach. There is no crime and it's just beautiful here. The only drawback is the price you pay.. its hella expensive to live here, but well worth it!
 
Why don't you people do something about it? Who cares if you take a pay-cut? Move your damn family. LIFE IS NOT ABOUT MONEY which a lot of people believe.


Personally I love where I live. Sure I may make more money in a big city, but I would be unhappy. I have a secluded house in the woods, 10 minutes from the city, mountains, lakes, rivers, woods, not too much traffic, 4 beautiful seasons, friendly people, I could go on and on.

Wake up you unhappy people!

I have two kids, whom have a father here in LA. I've had two job offerings that would have almost near doubled my salary, with benefits and relocation package. But I can't remove my kids from what they know, the family they know and stick them in some city. I just can't do that to them.

I had another job offering today, Though I seriously have considered it due to the pay rate and the perks... I just don't know.

Aye straight up. I had enough money to pay for 6 months rent and living costs. So I just straight left NY & Rented a studio on south beach Miami. I figured if I cant find a job in 6 months fuck it - I would move back to NY. But that was 4 years ago - I have lived in Miami ever since.
Gotta be bold & just make a move. I love it hear.

Hell no! If I could work and make the same or close to what I make now and move up north (northern michigan) I would in a heart beat. It's much more simple and layed back... and very peacful and beautiful.

No. My family is close. It's strange, we all are very independent, yet we know how important the family bond is.
