It's getting old having to drive to the gym at 6am eod, plus winter coming up and warming up the car early = misery.

Options:

A: drop 1-2g on some used equip, install in basement
pros: workout whenev, grunt in peace, never wipe off bench, look in the mirror nude etc
cons: expense, setting up/taking down equip (moving it if I relocate), doesn't have all the sweet exotic exercises I get from diff gym machines (have to reformat routine)

B: stay spending $20 a month at my reg gym
pros: motivation from j00cers, sweet equipment, hardcore atmosphere, drinks/protein bars/HS chicks coming into tan
cons: 5 min drive, waiting for equip, people staring, smell, geighs in the locker room

For those that went from being a gym/club guru to owning your own at home, ye/ney?

I love 24 hour fitness. Nothing like the enviroment and hot chicks wearing tight clothes. Plus I can swim and play basketball all I want.

I have a biz set up exclusively to train people at their homes. In my experience 95% of people can get the same or better results training at home if they have any sort of discipline.

Or, C: Work in the fitness industry around equipment all day and not work out at all. Like me.

Or D: Juice year round, bulk year round, lift two days a week only working chest - 3 sets bench/3 reps max (18 reps PW) - zero cardio - come online and give juice/diet/cardio advice all day

in your situation, keep the gym pass.
only a 5 minute drive, get's you outta bed...but weren't you talking about moving out west? gonna be sweet lugging your weights across the country in the stinkin lincoln

I've done both and it's actually harder to get on a good workout schedule when you've got a gym at home. You find yourself rescheduling workouts because it's too convenient.

I do the same thing as you. Leave at 6am ed. I'm dreading the winter. I struggle to get up that early regardless, gonna have to add 10 minutes more time to warm up car/scrape/etc. Only benefit to that is you won't have to do it again before leaving for work.

I'd buy the home gym if I had room.

Somebody mentioned taking a shower to wake-up in the morning, even if you're going to go to the gym and shower again afterward.

That kinda made sense to me.

yeah 24 hour fitness is great...I like to workout at later at night a lotta times and there tends to not be a lot of people in there at like 11pm...and it makes it like having your own gym...the basketball gym is sweet too. I could never see myself having a home gym. It would take up to much space plus i like going to the gym b/c it gets me outta the house. Lol the coldest it gets here is like 50 in the dead of winter so i dont have to worry about warming up the car or anything

home gym is better for me. I was able to get a basic setup(squat rack, bench, barbell, weights, db) for under $500. I can listen to whatever music i want on my stereo, no waiting for douchebags, can workout barefoot, take a shit on my toilet if i took too many stims pre-workout. no monthly fees, no driving. And sometimes when training with the wife, cardio=sex on the bench.

Hell yeah. During the summer it's great because of the air condition and the pool. Plus, I like looking at hot women, fliriting with the women at the gym, and the girls that work the front desk. It pays off later because if I stop paying the girls that work the front desk, let me in for free. I do it with the women from LA fitness already. I show up once a week for free to meet friends for basketball games at night. Haven't paid a scent for the past 4 yrs. Gotta love gym girls. :qt:

Working out at home is so boring to me. I'll just end up talking on the phone, get baked, start making food, get on the computer, or call over a women to do the do. I'll never actually get aroung to working out at home really. I'll be going to 24 hours for life.

i can't get motivated at home even with a lifting buddy to save my life. home = slack even if your discipline is spot on. 20 bux a month ain't shit and 5 minutes isn't either. seeing faces/making fun of people/hitting on hs chix sounds more enjoyable.

i wish my city had more than one gym open for 24 hours. the only one we have is like working out in a dungeon or prison by candle light (low lit florescent lights) i really want to open one.

gym. . .totally, i'm certain that at home the distraction of wife, kids, chores (things that need to be installed, things that need to be demolished and removed, things that need to be painted, things that need to be drank :) , etc.). . .plus, there's the whole can-of-worms of my smoking hot training partner. . .meh. . .i see my 8-pack disappearing in about 2 weeks. . .and me being very sad. . .
