working out 1 hour vs 2 or 3

would really like to know how it is more beneficial than getting a quality workout in one hour as opposed to 2 or three hours.

I have been gaining like crazy . 16 lbs of muscle in 6 1/2 weeks. and dropped 1/2% BF. responding really well
i work out 45-1 hour (not including rest)
i still gain awesome, but would i gain that much more from working out 2 or 3 hours?

i find it difficult to understand to date..

I usually work out about 45 min, hit every muscle group every 48 hours, any more and stress hormones and joint problems emerge. see HST.

You don't make gains from exercise, you make gains from recovery from exercise via super-compensation, you can only grow as fast as you can repair.

It all works if you work hard. I find that my intensity flags after 60 minutes in the gym. There's no reason to just go through the motions without challenging yourself.

1 hour is normal , a lot of pro bodybuilders and many fitness enthusiast will attest to this , of course you have a few that claim 2-3 hours helped them gain more but it's not the norm

2-3 hours is a long workout. That would mean you are either taking too long rests in between each sets or doing a lot of sets! 45-75 is ideal.

Keep the workouts to 60 -75 mins. Anything far over that and you are either overtraining or fooling around. Keep your workouts efficient, with minimal distractions.

In a GYM, 1 hour tops....45 min optimal. My 2 cents
