I am leaving on a 4+ hour drive for Fresno. I have to be in court tomorrow morning for a 111 MPH speeding violation. I am really hoping I don't get my license suspended or get fucked up the ass with a $1000+ fine.

Good luck. What kind of car? I was able to get a fine halved by pointing to my car in the parking lot of the courthouse. Sunbird running on three cylinders... Sometimes pathetic is a good thing.

good news - my citation had not been filed, there was no record of it in the court. I got my citation stamped as proof of having appeared and got sent on my way.

bad news - They told me to call the DA's office and check whether they were filing charges against me or not. I called and was told that the file had just been submitted to them and they were still reviewing the charges. I'll receive something in the mail in the next month or so telling me what they plan to do, and if I don't I should give them a call.

So, for the past month I had been calling to check the status of my case and was always told that it had not been found in the system. They told me that sometimes they are not filed 'til the day of so I should show up anyways. Why couldn't they have given me the DA's number then so I could have been informed not to go?

So I spent $100+ in gas, $60+ on a crappy ass hotel room, lost a day of work, drove almost 8 hours round trip and I may even have to go back. Fucking bastards, I am going to conjure some evil all up in their ass.

I guess an addition to the good news is that I was able to con some chick to go with me so I can atleast say I got laid in Fresno.

in michigan, filing charges means the matter is no longer a civil matter, they've transferred it over to district court where you know have a misdemeanour...bet'cha that is the case with you

but the misdemeanor, atleast as it appears on the citation, is for having a suspended license at the time i was stopped and not for speeding. I did not know my lisence was suspended, it was for a neglected fix it ticket which I emmediately took care of (after the citation).

Don't they have those legal services there where you hire a dude to go fight your ticket? Cost like $300 here and they pretty much always win or at the very least get it reduced.
