It's because thats where they copied it from .

my old notebook pc died on me. I bought the newest HP out there. It has vista. if you are decent with pc's one will pick up quickly. I like the way how xp was more organized vs vista. Vista is better overall but at first I didnt like it.

it is fine now.

It sucks. My Dell came with 4gb RAM and Vista only see 3GB. Same with my gf computer.

That's a problem with all 32-bit operating systems. You have to get the 64-bit version to see more than 3.25G of RAM.

I'm in the same boat on my XP Pro system.

If you go 64-bit, you'll be SOL as far as Flash videos go. It's not just Linux, either -- Adobe has no 64-bit Flash player for any OS.

I use a 64 bit Vista Machine at work running CS3, Flash and the flash player run fine.

I bought one...way way too fuggin slow and it wasnt a bare bones system either...and that was just running the os and not multiple programs.

1st time I went to windows update and got all current and patched like you are supposed to....fuck my shit all up.

I got so pissed I took it back to best buy....the dude looked at me and said..."windows Vista right??"

Isn't OSX a 64-bit platform?

What do you do with 3GB of RAM? I've been using 1.5GB for about 4 years and I rarely tap that even with Vmware running...but then I do use Linux.

64-bit desktop OS - the answer to the question nobody asked...ever.

it'll actually be half-decent after service pack 2.

all ms o/s's suck shit at the beginning.

my xp was always slow and problem-ridden. i had to re-instal every few months cuz it was always getting infected with spyware

XP always worked perfectly for me, right from the beginning.

Getting infected with spyware is not an operating system problem, it's a PEBKAC issue. I've never been hit by a virus, nor have I had any spyware worse than a tracking cookie that could easily be deleted by the anti-spyware program. You must go to a lot of porn sites, that seems to be where the really malicious stuff is.

ive had a mac laptop for about two years.

it has never crashed

it has never gotten a virus

it has never gotten spyware

it has never frozen

it takes two seconds to hook up my personal hardware, ipod, printer etc...

my hardware never gets fuggen

ive never had to reinstall anything

any more questions?

Gaming, video editing.

vista is alright, it looks cool and is a power hog but i don't see an advantage between it and XP.

Macs are going to have the same virus and trojan problems as windows, it is only a matter of time since the number of Mac users are steadly increasing

Yeah people talk about spy ware this and virus that...but for the average user just surfing the internet and checking email(providing they know enough not to open .exe attachments..and by now they should) they should really ever have a problem with that stuff.

Since the days of Win95 I have had maybe one virus/malware in total.

PC users who haven't had virus/spyware problems - is because they are experienced users... There are lots of regular users who arent computer savvy and don't know where to go or what not to do.
