Hey, my wife is 21 years old and just recently started working out. She had been active in high school but never really worked out or played sports. She is looking to put on 20lbs of muscle or maybe more depending on how she looks after that. What we are really shooting for is a good program around 5-6 days a week with the 3 areas of emphasis the glutes, legs, arms. She wants to have thick legs/ glutes but not go overboard with it. She knows all the basics of working out and is in fairly decent shape to have not worked out. We need a fairly easy workout for her to start but not one for a beginner if that makes sense. She is 5'7 110 lbs. Thanks.

I like some routines by Joyce Vedral - you can find her DVDs (which I'm not crazy about, she moves kinda fast & is annoying to some extent). I use her books - you can taylor the speed of the workout & increase weight & rest periods to suit her goals. No rests or short rests with lighter weights = fat burn & cutting while heavier weights & longer rest periods would yeild more strength & size.

I also really like workouts on beachbody. Chalean Extreme is very versatile - a beginner could use them without trouble but they are challenging enough for an advanced person too. P90X is one I just finished 90 days of (& am started on a new round of it now) & that's more advanced. I am new to this site so if there are workouts preferred here I am not familiar with them yet, this is just the stuff I have used & had success with in the past. :)

Tell her to join the board, read the stickies and then start posting questions :)

We'd be thrilled to have her here and I bet she'd have a ball talking to other women who take their working out seriously.
