Hiatussin New member Dec 25, 2005 #4 I used to play. It´s easier that way for the people keeping the stats to count how many fouls everyone has. It´s also a way to keep the referee on your side, as it expresses how you admit your foul or at least accept his decision.

The scorer isn't going to "miss" the player's number that the referee calls over to the table. Raising your hand is just a classy way of owning-up to the referee's call.
