why cant I get an AVATAR

I was wondering why I cant use a personal Avatar or whatver? Do you have to have a certain # of posts of what? It automatically has NO checked off when I try to change it... what can I do?

you need to have 500 posts for an avatar...spent about 2 hours last Saturday playing around with the edit option on this site.

okay yeah i was pretty upset too... avatar is the picture that goes directly under your name.
