The board ahs changed a lot. Do you think it has improved to lost some of its appeal? Explain your answer as fully as possible.


It is certainly a very different board now........but is it better?

i'd say ít's had its up and downs...a few years ago it was funny with may and satanic goatslayer, NYC BOY and a few others and now there are new funny bro's so i guess it's all good eh
 
have lurked for many a year, and it is bigger, but worse imo

less good posters

less older posters, too many kids

too cliquey, intimidating for newbies

too many inane banter threads

not many interesting new members recently

wodin still posts here despite my best efforts to have him banned

I can't believe it will be 4 years in August. I remember when Frackal was in High School and he was enjoying getting hit on by his gay teacher. The whole Kartchick thing was cool too. I remember the days of Special Bill and Thick Dog. Those were the days. I would laugh until it hurt.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

Definitely not better.

It was better when "Between the Sheets" was a thread Slickassbitch started on monday to see who got laid.

It was better when their was less political bullshit and more fucking with each other and learning about each other's day to day.

One thing that bugs me is that you tend to get ignored unless you are part ofa caertain crowd. This makes it tough for newbies to contribute........and for those of us who actually have a life.

yeah what he said, i want to be part of the cool crowd. it's high school all over again.
 
I dunno...the board has it's ups and downs. In some perverse way, I miss the drama...there used to be a lot of soap opera type action on the boards. Now, not so much. The work that has been done to keep the troublemakers off seems to have worked. Chat's a lot more homogenized now.

I liked it better without the post whores and the karma whores. Talk about your pointless threads.

And the board was cliquey when I came on. There was a regular group on chat, and you were either in with the main crowd, or you were largely ignored. Hell, I remember being surprised when velvett told me she read my posts. I think that's just the nature of the thing tho...you respond to those you know. Those that come on and immediately act like they belong usually do pretty well, as long as they're not fucktards.
 
There are no decent flame wars because the personalities are no longer entrenched enough within the conscience of the board for people to care - the stakes are too low in other words. Also the platinum search feature means that it is far too much work to dig up a thread that you recently posted some good stuff on - so why bother ? The loss of Casavant alone from this board in the last 6 months should be enough to get some heads thinking.

I remember the days when there were flame wars that made Hiroshima look tame.

People actually took a moment and thought about what they were going to reply with on a post vs just posting dribble.

When you asked a serious question, you got back 75% serious answers and 25% stupid silly ones.. This has reversed today.

Lots of Canuck bashing that seems to have died down. Not sure why as the Canadianiers still suck.. :)

I still avoid the sheets forum as it is like walking down a dark alley with your wallet in your hand.

Personally all the fun of between the sheets took a nose dive when that little 'post your boobies' competition the girls had going dried up...Natglutes, JenBFL left as well (Jen BFL was amazigly hot! its so sad she didnt post more pictures)

Still we have more good looking women, but only a few of them post up their pics, on the plus side, the ones that do are nice looking :p

there were pics where she didnt havany paint on...just a cowboy hat....those were the days :p...all the other ones were still good but those were the best

Many things are different. Some are better, many are not.

The one thing that has surprized me most is just how cruel and vicious many people can be. And I am not talking about total strangers that are just words on a screen. One expects sheep mentality from such types. I am talking about people that you THOUGHT you knew.... who you thought knew you as well.

C'est la vie.
 
the climate is much more Politically Correct than it was when i first joined......RyanH, may1010, Casavant, bull69 & musclepig....they posted enjoyable, thought provoking, amusing and highly readable threads (not in that particlular order). the flame wars and the outrageous stuff they posted in the past whould not be tolerated by today's mod's standards.

having to be plat to view anything larger than the aptly named "thumbnail" pics is irritating.

Heres a good example of why EF used to be better.........that May1010 wa a nutcase. Who remembers the pics of the uh party involving other gay members? :xeye: Wheres the vomit smilie gone?

wihout a doubt, his doner dna was all planter's peanuts. yeh, the pics one of them ( i think it was bull69) posted of them at southern decandence here in nawlinz would never make it past the PC mods we have now. may and ryan's flame wars made me spew coffee on my monitor more than once at work...the ONLY time i smile or laugh at work is because of elite.

It was funny as hell when FlexB, Thick Dog, Moe Dank, Rotten, Special Bill, SlickAssBiatch were here. Alot of good hearted fun. Havoc's flame wars were the best.

Now everyone just calls each other assclown, assgnome, etc......

Been here for a few months.
Boy this place has changed, but really it's just become less tolerant.

We've always had the same ratio of "kids" to "adults", just now it has a bigger general population, and we only hear from the "kids" because they consume the most bandwidth.
 
I think older popular posters are just pissed off that they aren't the center of attention as they were 2-3 years ago.

I don't think it's better or worse just different but like everything time changes the environment and it's up to to either work with it or seek a better pasture.

Unfortunately a lot of people have taken the second option. If you look at the names that people are mentioning, those 'popular posters' are barely here anymore.
 
I think its had its ups and downs, it seems right now its in a "down". it does not seem like a little community anymore. plus (no disrespect to admin.) to many petty rules and such. but ill prob. be here for a while.

I think you've taken what I said differently than intended.

I was refering to those that have left and the few that have changed their names because they don't want to admit to still posting here under their former names.

It's just a chat board and like people in your life they come and go and some people you become close to and others you do not, some stay around and some do not.

When you go to your favorite bar or restaurant and it changes - whatever the change and those that came and those that you hung out with are gone you may find yourself less comfortable there. While on the other hand some people are going to stay because they like the ambience and make of it the most that they can.

You think that all boards remain the same?

They all change - this board is the focus because it has been around a long time.

People change so why wouldn't the boards they post on change as well?

1. Nobody said that I was referring to myself. There are a reasonable nuber of people here who I do fit in with.

2. I am rarely here anymore unless I am on holiday and have time to kill.......I am on holiday right now. The reasons that I dont bother anymore is that I have a life and I really dont find much of what I see particularly interesting.

good post ! normal i never reasd anything longer then 3-5 sent. but true true

i had a name before this one back around 02 and only had a few posts in diet forum and never checked out so i cant really say much much abou the c & c place.........i always wonder where some members went? like they here all the time one day then fall off the edge the next week ?

also as to other common complaints by the oldsters:

less good posters, less older posters, too cliquey, intimidating for newbies, not many interesting new members recently

while I was lurking for like a year or two before posting, I thought it was intimidating, VERY cliquey, and a lot of inane bantering and non-interesting private discussions always going on...

things have not changed, just the people have... and they will continue to...

Agreed, the boards are just like a living thing. It changes over time, and those who can't handle the change simply evolve to another board.

there was far to much thread moving/deleting going on for awhile.

A post by member x would be deleted, but the same post by member y would be left alone.

used to be some mods that would abuse their power also.
 
With Fonz and Ryanh gone, we're seeing a lot less of that.

This place is exactly like high school.

To new posters here it's like.. you know you can post and you'll get a few good replies from people.

But you're thinking about it while you're typing, always a little nervous if the popular kids will find a way to jump in and embarass you, cause if you type something dumb they'll fight over who can type the fastest to call you gay or a loser.

It's great, I've always thought how nice it would be to go back to highschool again with bigger muscles.

I've been here since January and nobody knows who I am still. But that's how it should be when you are new somewhere.

Same way when I was new.. same way when everyone is new...

I kind of like that about it- if you have something worth hearing you will stick around... if you don't- well you probably weren't that entrenched with your convictions anyways....
 
I hit my 2 year aniversary last month..

board is ok now... like most people say it goes in cycles.. right now, we're in a bad one.
 
I guess this is a good thread to ask - how many people chat in the Platinum Chat section? Obviously you would get to know people faster in there.

Is it busy, or do people mostly chat through the board like this?

I think all boards change over time. You get really attached to a few people and just seeing their posts makes you day a little more sunny.....then they disappear. Then new people arrive. There are certainly a few people I miss from when I first joined EF but overall I like it here (or I wouldn't post).
 
It'll be 2 in May.
