Who looks better the Pro's of today or guys like...

I went for the old school look too. Today's guys just don't have the quality look of the pre-insulin days.

Do you personally attribute this to the insulin usage or over abundant abuse of GH? I would think GH is more of the culprit for todays bloated freaky physiques.

Old school. Arnold, Frank, and Larry. Some of the pros today with their disended guts look like turtles.

Depends on what your goal is...if you never plan on stepping on stage then the old schoolers look way better because they are jacked but not freaks. There is a guy who works out ith jeremy freeman in syracuse who is 5' 10" and 270 and 8% BF...they guy just looks ridiculous....I think he will do well but walking around a gym he looks to freaky so that means the stage is the only place he can look good.

Old school for me. I wouldn't mind looking like Levrone though. I just don't like the looks of most top level pro's today.

It's a different world. Back in the 60's and 70's pro bodybuilding was about looking unworldy -- like a god. Today, pro bodybuilding is still to look unworldly, but like a freak. Some people like looking like a freak. Personally, if looking like Nubret isn't muscular enough for you, you've got bigger problems than I can help you with.

for me personally i want to look big not like an alien with a distended gut. The pros today are fucking freaks, i give them all the props though, they have taken bb to a new level

For the most part, I love the physiques of Arnold/Zane.

But that said, I also find the physiques of Jay/Gunter to be pleasing too, sorry, I don't find Ruhl/Coleman physiques pleasing to look at.

There is some good to be said about today's pros. When Ronnie really comes in looking good (2001 Arnold?), he's damn near perfect. I think Jay and Gunter are good as well. But, by a long shot, my favorite pro today is Pavol Jablonicky. He, and a few others, remind me of what bodybuilding is all about. Kinda like a continuation of the old school style.

well for one, old skoolers had no legs, or at least the majortiy of them
i personally like the freaky look or todays pros

If all you want to do is show it on the stage, then bigger is definitly better.
Having to be able to move around and work on equipment and stuff, I'll have to go with old school Arnold and Zane.

The only physique of the guys that competed in our era that I TRULY respect is Flex Wheeler(Perfection Personified). Other than that, I'd take Old School ANYDAY!! Arnold, Sergio, Nubret, Zane, and Haney were AWESOME!!! I could watch "Pumping Iron" all day!!!!!

I would have to choose the old schoolers like Nubret and Zane just from a health standpoint. You weren't running on that ragged edge between being shredded and dying of kidney failure to step on stage in the 70s.

i think ed corning sp?(the mustached dude from pumping iron) is my realistic goal

I think it's Ed Corney.

Cool guy and nice body too. He had a stroke recently but had made a good recovery.

There's guys who have as good/better physiquyes than the old-schoolers(imo), but, they just can't win a bodybuilding show. Think Dexter Jackson, as close to a perfect physique as I've ever seen.

New schools all the way. I saw a pic. with Jay standing next to a regular woman. Holy shit he looked like a fucking alien! I love it.

I remember when I lived in Columbus OH an unnamed pro bb was walking in the mall. He had on a pair of zubaz pajama pants, otomix shoes and a tank top. HE looked like such a freak, I actually felt bad for him. People were saying "steroids" and "freak" and shit like that. The whole place was just staring at him as he walked.

Funny part was, some 6'3 135 lber said "coughROIDScough* and there was NOTHING mr. bb could do about it...hell HE WAS WADDLING thru the mall!

at that point I knew i didn't want to be a bb.

OLD SCHOOL

i used to wan't the freak size of dorian and guys like that but the older i get the more i like the old shool look of Arnold and Zane and the Myth.

Old school definitely! I just watched some video of arnold posing and he looks so much better than any of todays pros. His physique was perfect. Today's pros just want to go for the freaky look and not the symetrical physiques of old days. I think that the physiques of old have to be brought back on stage for competitions nowadays.

i would never want to look like zane (too small) and i would never want to look like ruhl (too big) so somewhere between them :)

zane small?????????

Bottom line is, you really have to be well funded to get as freaky as the guys today along with unheard of discipline with diet. Training is only small % but really not too many ppl want to get that freaky looking, mind you they are not in contest condition all the time. I give them props for all the hard work but I personally don't want that look at all. Heck who knows maybe some of them don't like to look that way but they are really competitive and know what it takes to compete. Just my thoughts.

I've known more than a few pros who've said they'd prefer to be 50 pounds lighter.

Zane is too small. Yeah, right. Who wants to be 200 pounds ripped to the bone with perfect proportions anyway?

Uh oh I agree with Nelson on something... ....I would love to be able to be competitive at 210 -215.....it was a lot easier when I first started ten years ago.....and I could walk on stage at 205 and smoke everyone.......now it seems if you don't weigh 250-300 you don't stand a chance, I much prefer the way Franco, and Frank, and Lee Haney looked to how Ronnie looks...... oh well....time to eat......:D

LOL - some of you guys don't understand - my fucking opinion Zane is not big enough for what i would like to be, get it Nelson and whoever
