Who here does abs?

On and off cycle, i have a 4 pack naturally and I always say I'm gonna do them but I never do, and almost anyone I know with abs doesn't do them. So let's here it, who does the crunches??

There have been studies that have come out that prove crunches don't even stimulate the abdominal muscles enough to provide any benefit. The exercise that tested the highest for rectus abdominis activation was actually the bicycle. Alternating opposite elbow to opposite knee for as many reps as you want seems to work just fine.

i never do crunches ,sit-ups or any shit that directly works my abs.

my gym is full of young dudes busting a gut with all that shit and its funny as fuck.

the 6 pack is there and dropping bf reveals it.( mine is now hibernating for the winter :) )

I havent done direct core work in years.. squating and deads have built me a solid core

What's up fat ass? :evil::rainbow:

Being 8 weeks post ACL recon and cant squat or dead I do do some hanging leg raises to get some core work.

Never ever touch those ab machines ever. Even if I wanted to they are always crammed with obese people.

i cant do pull-ups these days ... theres always some faggot hanging on the bar doing leg raises.

Ab roll-outs for a couple high rep sets every other week. Or when ever I have some extra time is all I do. And maybe a machine crunch.

I tend to do more once I start dieting. But I never use a lot of weight.

I do. Just because ignorant people think that ab work will get rid of belly fat doesn't mean they shouldn't be trained. But I work them just like any other bodypart -- once a week. They're muscles, and in order for them to be shapely and firm as possible they need to be worked. And strong abs make for a stronger back. So work them.

One thing though -- if can can hundreds of reps of something -- be it sit ups or anything else, you're not stimulating the muscles. You have to stress the muscles.

I do exercises where 25 reps is failure. (Such as roman chair sit ups).

I do, however I have worked on mine for years. It took me along time to dial my diet in and I bought an ab machine that goes with my gym. If anything, I overtrain ab's probably however diet is how you obtain ab's then training.

when I was 16 I remember spending my entire workout working them lol. I had 8 pack washboard abs.

I would tell you that if you do compound lifts that you are working them just fine... sometimes I will grab a med ball and a 25 pound weight and do some core work with that.

the muscles that 99% of guys fail to do ENOUGH OF, even long time vets are the back muscles... a lot of us have huge front delts, pecs, even traps.. but not only is there is a massive imbalance there but our front muscles stay tight and the reason for that is because of our jobs we have today sitting in front of computers.. every single person reading this is guilty because I am assuming you are on your computer right now right? so instead of worrying about your abs worry more about your back and stretching out your front muscles especially during work.. learn some wall stretches.. otherwise what you will have is neck and back pain that can become chronic long term. that's why I tell guys to work their legs too, and not just their upper bodies. its because you have to be balanced!!

Good point. If you do high rep stuff, it's essentially fat burning, so why not do something that's going to sharpen the muscles instead of just riding a bicycle that doesn;t go anywhere.

Zabo kosewski and Chuck Sipes did 500 sit ups and 500 leg raises every day.

Check out these pics. YOU tell them they wrong. lol

I do two sets of abs per workout. Usually if I feel my target muscles are overly fatigued and I need a little break I'll do 2 12 rep sets of abs. I used to be quite overweight and have a lot of loose skin on my gut and will never have abs like you guys so I don't work at it too hard.

I do. Everyday inverted on a teeter table. Takes about 7 mins in the morning. Great way to start the day

Oh but not crunches. Full head to knees all the way around from one backside to the other. 5 positions 20 reps per set. After a week of that you can do 500 crunches and not even notice ! Hahaha!

I do abs every day; sometimes with weight added and sometimes just crunches (350 crunches) . I've been doing it that way for 20 years; 365 days/year, so I don't know what difference there might be if I didn't do abs. And I don't want to find out :worried: . At age 46 with a sharp 6-pack (or 8-pack if I do extra weighted ab work for a month), it must be working for me…
