Ive been out coyote hunting a few times, planned to get some of the nice whitetails I see on the back of my property but this morning the 4 wheeler doesnt want to start so im fucked for another week.

almost got a coyote though he just came in at a bad angle and I went to readjust and that son bitch took off like I had shot him.

so post some stories pics whatever, hell just talk about hunting, what scents you use, what weapon that kinda jazz

I use to hunt all of the time and I have been looking for land in the country to buy and build a house and start hunting again.. I think it would be neat to have feeders and a nice 4 wheeler , if nothing more than just to relax..

I actually always did want one of those inflatable pool raft alligators for my living room. People could sit on it.

I'm not sure where I would put a real stuffed alligator.

i think that there are alligator farms where they use the meat for food and skins for all kinds of stuff including taxidermy.

Maybe I should just get a live one.
Make sure you have a :Boomstick ready. They aren't very friendly. My buddy actually had one for a pet until it got about 3' long then he couldn't control it anymore.

I kinda wanted to, but I'd like to get more practice in at the range. That, and I have absolutely no idea how to gut an animal, nor anywhere to put a 100-pound carcass. I should probably start out with small game or something first.

And there ain't no way in hell I'm going to sit in a damned tree stand for hours on end, so I doubt a novice stalker/still-hunter needs to worry about actually killing something the first several times out.

ya the stalking is a tricky game to get into,I mostly hunt from a ground blind but when that gets boring I have a buddy or two over and we take turns flushing and shooting as whatever comes runnin through the bush.

It's easy Samoth. Just don't puncture the bladder. Or cut out the loins and discard them like I did first time lol. Some coyote had a good meal that day. The carcass goes to the butcher unless you think you can do it lol.

I shot a little meat buck the day after I broke my camera. He was decent size for around here. Tastes good, kids help with the butchering. I was rifle hunting with my 12 y.o. along. He was as excited as can be.
We have gone after quail a couple times but they didn't do to well this year on account of the drought conditions. Pheasant hunting last week end was a blast, we filled three limits by 12:30 Sat.
Only one coyote so far but only been set up four times so one out of four isn't bad really.

I just got a new camera so should have some more pics.

I would want to do it all myself. Or at least as much as possible without risking spoilage or my health or what have you, so long as I'm capable of doing it without expensive or special equipment.

Let the butcher process it, easy and cheap. You can't make sausage, summer sausage etc. Costs about 100

Yeah you can! I bought a meat grinder and it comes with a nozzle for pushing it into links. There's a ton of recipes on the net.

I mostly make steaks or burger as thats what we eat the most of.

Okay I am just lazy lol. I meant he would spend more getting the equipment than just paying a butcher.

More power to you if you want to butcher your own meat. I have done it enough, I'll let someone else do it.

Besides, Sammie has to buy more arrows before he has to worry about it.

Understand the lazy part but I have a hard time trusting the butchers around here. Not everyone here is used to handling the animal correctly and they bring in some questionable meat. Not every butcher is careful to keep them separate. I got some back that tasted bad and tasted nothing like the loin and back strap. I have been doing my own since.

I hear that. A good friend of mine was a butcher and he used to process all my game. I wish he still did it, I got 15lbs, basically a garbage bag full of beef jerky for helping him move his dad back into town when his father got sick.

Last time I had one done, I had it cut into steaks ad I had already taken the backstrap off and just wanted it cut and packaged. I got the steaks and out of 2 eighteen inch straps, I got about 12 inches of backstarp total. I went back to the butcher and asked if they had misplaced one of my backstrap packages. He said they didn't and I told all the employees standing there that "somebody is planing on having backstrap tonight besides me!" I knew everyone there, nobody said a word. I was very pissed, they just stood there with dumfounded looks on their faces...

That sucks twice! You knew them and they still stole your meat? I don't know how I'd have reacted.

I do know they waste meat that I take the time to recover, but when you get back less than you're expecting it makes you wonder.

I also bought a vacuum bagger this year and love it. Should have got it years ago.

anybody have any issues with poachers on their land? somebody has been quartering them and leaving the heads with spinal cord attached but cut off about half way with obvious saw marks, they must be using spot lights at night and bows because someone is always around,we have a mennonite family that home schools on the other house on the property and nobody has heard shots, but ive found two in the last three days where just the heads were left and other undesireable parts

Set up trail cams in the areas where you find the dead dear. Maybe you will get pictures of the poachers, then you can decide what to do from there.
