Where to purchase quality implements

It looks like I may have about $500 from work to spend on any non-work related activity. Already bought a harness with last year's loot. I think I can swing 2 farmer's walk implements and maybe a sled and a few plates. Should also have an SUV mid-summer, so storing them in my car won't be such a major hassle (have a Maxima right now). any thoughts on good places to buy these from? I know of a few places and ahve dealt with a few (TPS, nybarbell) but have never bought implements from them.

Great stuff here, also have the COC grippers. Otherwise check out reband or rheband can't remember how it is spelled.

Cheers,

Thanks Scots. Ironmind was my other choice besides TPS. Have you actually seen/used their equipment? I'm looking at farmers walks and possibly a sled. I'll check out that other site too.

I have used their farmers in competition, they had hella grip on them and were pretty stable. I have a COC #1 and the drafthorse harness from them. So far I am satisfied very well with their stuff.

That link's just taking me to the equipment page. I looked up the dual post sled and that's a pretty good deal.

shit, my bad. yeah - the sled is what I was looking at. I'm going to check out a comp this weekend so I'm gonna keep my eye out for the implements and talk to people there as well.

lmao - balsamic! well played.

here's some shit I just found - seems a little suspicious cause of the low price and no pictures, so I would need to do some investigating. but I would basically get a great "intro strongman" type package that would come around $500 (don't forget, the $500 is free from work). I would have to buy plates and whatnot, and then somehow store all this shit in my little ass apartment, but it would make me a happy happy man!

Haven't heard of them before so I can't help you on that. Maybe try contacting them and see if they can e-mail you pics and full descriptions.

yep - I did that yesterday. It looks like a good deal, but a) a lot of the stuff is real light without weights and b) I don't really have the room in my apartment or car to store all that shit. I think I am just going to use the $500 for a quality paor of farmers walks and a sled, then go get a keg locally to throw around. eventually I will get a log.

Where did you wind up getting the equipment from?

I'm going to pop for some more stuff. Maybe some farmers' and a log, I think.

I ended up getting the ski style sled from Brute Strength:

and farmers walks from ny barbells:

haven't received either yet, but can't wait to train with them. I chose these two places mostly b/c of price, since I have $500 from work to use for this. I'll update you guys with how they are when I use them. also gonna start a strongman training log on this forum soon.

lmfao - the CFO of my company just walked by my desk and asked me what "farmer's walks" were! sucks that I have to get this shit delivered here, but man I am pumped about starting my implement supply. I'll take pics later.

cool man, I have a yoke and conan's wheel from brutestrength, it holds a ton of weight and it's all detachable, I'm happy with it.

I haven't been here for awhile, I'm 1-month away from a contest, so I'll have to post the info and what I'm training now, I'm looking forward to reading your journal man.

I am waiting for a sled to come in from brute strength. haven't seen you in a while. definitely post up the info about the contest.

killahbee, I got a good workout for you to try useing the harness, sled and farmers all at once.
do a farmers walk while harness dragging your sled at the same time, I did this last night with 155lb an arm farmers while dragging 175lb sled on grass for 100'sets, man it hits evrything this can duplicate a truck pull and build awsome hip strength, you got the equipment right?, give it a shot sometime.

funny you mention this - I can't remember where I saw/heard this idea, but recently I heard this same thing. I am definitely going to try this out. sounds like a lot of fun

If you can find a friend who is a welder and a find a scrape yard. You can build all the torture equipment you want for almost nothing. My gym is very small and we only have about twelve people who go to the gym daily (we do strongman, powerlifting, olympic, odd lifts, and whatever you can think of). We make ower own equipment, it may not look very pretty but it works. For about $50 we make a Conan's wheel and viking press. At $500 you can make your own gym.

Good luck to all strongmen and women,
GNAT
