That was cigs. It was the last day I worked at that restaurant in Park City I showed you. I've used Cope since, but haven't touched any for over 2 years.

I was a pack and a half a day smoker of Marlboro lights. Smoked since i was in the 7th grade. I occasionally have dreams that I light up in, but I truly do not miss it. I quit smoking, cold turkey, the following morning after that date.

Neither sound appealing to me, but I'd probably go with snuff since I have asthma and remember how long it would take me to get over a cold. A sniffle would turn into bronchitis almost instantly and I'd still smoke through it.

I was easily a pack-a-day smoker when I was about 20/21. Then just stopped, cold turkey. Easy as pie, too. Now I smoke whenever the fuck I want and never have that bullshit crybaby "addiction" BS.

My mom's birthday was Dec. 21. She passed away, very suddenly and totally unexpectedly, in April 2004. Ever since she passed away I get blue from mid-November until January 1, and the week leading up to Dec. 21 I get very depressed. So much of the holidays are tied up with memories, and so many of my memories are of things she and I did together, whether it was cooking, or baking or shopping or even doing the dishes after the meals.

When I say I do things that hurt myself, I mean I eat badly, drink WAY too much, stop exercising. In years past I started smoking again (this year I think I'll try to avoid that one), and I've been getting godawful hangovers so I'm going to cut back on the booze.

my grandfather (my dad's father) died on christmas day when i was like a junior in high school. . .they never had the greatest relationship so, there was a lot of unresolved bullshit between them. . .my dad has never been accused of being "mr. happy" to begin with, but for years after that happened, he was particularly prickley/pricky during that time of year. . .so. . .indirectly, i kind of understand how you feel. . .

sounds to me like you and your mother had a good relationship, though. . .and i'm sure she wouldn't want you to be bummed during the holidays. . .focus on the good stuff, historic and current. . .we're all gonna die some day, and it doesn't make any sense to have the blues for a couple of months EVERY YEAR. . .that's a lot of time dedicated to an unhealthy attitude. . .
