What's your strongest lift?

Deads? Squats or Bench?

Just curious as I just started doing deads again and am wondering what I should expect.

My strongest lift is by far Deads. I just recently started really training legs so even though they have been progressing pretty quickly, they're still pitiful over all.

Here are my numbers
Dead 330 x 5 (going for 335 x 5 tomorrow).
Squat 225 x 5 (Full ATF squat)
Bench 197.5 x 5

Whats sad right now...my bench is.

I haven't had a good squat workout in a long time. Started up doing Deads again a couple weeks ago, but didn't go heavy. 5x5 with 225.

I did deads for the first time in years 6 weeks ago. I started at 225, now at 285 for 5x5.

deads for sure...

my squats have really come down since i started doing them "correctly", bu i'm making better gains...

my bench has always been weak...

Damn, you're weight has moved up if I remember. I remember you saying you just got 200. Nice work. That is a lot. Very strong woman. :)

hehe good memory well actually it was 205 before ;)

I tried 215lbs not too long ago :)

Thank you.

1.) Deads
2.) Bench
3.) Squat

squats and bench should switch in the near future since my shoulder is jacked from the bench press

your deadlift should be your strongest lift. it's extremely rare to see anyone that can full squat more than they can dead.
I'm a weirdo for sure - I just Oly squatted 515 ATF with no belt/wraps, but my best dead is only 465. Go figure.

How do you bench 197.5? Do you use a smith machine and lift an unbalanced barbell or something?

I'd guess deads. I plan to pull 750 lbs in the next 3 months.

You are a weirdo, lol.....but seriously this is rare since you squat ATF and you've got low bodyfat, and you've got the build of a natural puller.

Mine is deads, I'm just built for them.

Ya, the smith machine rocks, everyone is using it here, it really isolates my pecs when I bench.

197.5 on the smith machine is easy, I put 195lbs on one side and a 2.5lbs on the other side. I switch the "heavy side" every other workout to even things out...

Seriously though, where have you been, lol

I use the chains. On a side note, the part numbers are different here in canada and I couldn't find the zinc plated. So I got some heavier grade 5/16" chain and with the clip it was roughly .8lbs each. Then I got some ½" chain and a clip.

My gym has a nice scale that reads to the .00lb All 4 chains and clips weigh 2lbs. I weighed those springy things that hold the weight on and they are .4lbs each. So 4 chains plus clips is roughly 2.5lbs.

This isnt what I have seen in experienced lifters. All the people that I know that have strong lifts, and train all 3, have the squat being significantly stronger than deadlift. I can squat about 575 now and deadlift around 505 or so. One guy I know that used to compete could squat over 800 and deadlift maybe 700.

I just wanted to backup maldorf. This is very true in experienced power lifters. On the other hand, we now get into the "which squat stance are we talking about" argument.

With the experienced lifters, it depends on build, equipment, and squatting style. With a powerlifting-style squat, and a PL-Squat in full gear, especially on an overweight lifter, the squat should be higher. With an ATF olympic style squat, especially on a guy with low bodyfat, the deadlift will usually be higher.

Regardless of stance, build, or equipment, with the typical 'gym rat' 1/4 squat, the squat should always be higher, lol.

As well as support gear (which helps more on the squat than the deadlift).

I hope to pull my 750 raw...well...raw may have to wait till later in the year.

Well I squat using just a belt and wraps and deadlift using just the belt. I use a sumo style in the deadlift and a bit wider than shoulder on the squat going far below parallel. Squat 575 and dead about 505. The powerlifter I knew,Steve Hampton, squated over 800 weighed 242 at competition, he deadlifted a bit over 700. He used the same stances as me. Steve Hampton was a strong mofo!

Deads by far. I used to deadlift but i never went heavy would just work with 225. Have no idea why...I just didnt know any better. I have recenlty started increasing the weight. Did 365 for 6 reps last week. What rep range is everyone talking about when referring to the weight u use?

you should use some 5/8" chain when doing presses or squats with chain.

I don't think you're talking about the same work with chains that I am doing.

I just use the chains to add a few pounds to the bar so I can micro lode eg. 202.5 , 232.5 etc. I think you're talking about using chains to work on a certian part of your lift.... no?

deads by far. my grip can only handle 415 but i can do a set of 5 pretty easily. I haven't tried them with straps for a year but I'm sure I could do quite a bit more with straps.

Squat. My deads aren't quit up to par, I haven't been doing them anywhere near as much as I should
