NOW........the only rappers who are real in NYC are the fundamentalists like Talib Kweli and Mos Def.....aka Black Starr.....

Division I have serious question about how much you truely know about hip hop. Just because a guy isn't in the MTV top 40 doesn't mean he's left the industry. And even if he has left the industry , rap is of the age now were songs are being remade. People have made records and then became producers and started guiding the careers of others. So watching videos and hearing stuff on the radio isn't the only thing going on.

Russell Simmons is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. You know what he does?? he's been in the game a long time.

Krs1 produced an album in 2002 (Spiritual Minded) and 2003 (kristyles). Although not current as of today, this is hardly a man in the past.

EPMD (Erik Sermon and Parris Smith of Long Island) got back together to make a record Out of Business which doesn't mean they are dead. I know of 3 EPMD songs that have been remade by current rappers.

Qtip who was the lead of a tribe called quest is now a solo artist for Motown.

Afrikka Bambatta is a producer and is infact the inventor of the term "hip hop"

I could go on forever again, but when you say this person and that person is in the past , you should take a closer look at thier career.

Mase is a good rapper actually from Florida but is down with Bad Boy

West Coast is ok. I can did thier style. I originally liked Ice-T in Breakin I and II . As KRS says it "Break dance , graphiti art and real rap music" is where it's at for me. This is what put rap over the edge and made it into a fad or a culture depending upon your point of view.
