What's the best way to gain fat?

This may seem out of place here, but my wife thinks she's too skinny and wants to be chubbier.

I've told her to eat more, and eat lots of donuts but she just can't eat that much. She doesn't have much of an appetite, and obviously has a super-charged metabolism because most of what she eats is pretty bad.

So is there a good way to gain fat?? Preferably without compromising health....

.... she doesn't wanna be obese, just chubbier. I thought it would be easy, but it's proving to be quite difficult.

Is it just me or is it stupid in here? Who in their right mind wants to gain fat?

Tell her try eating 15 cals per pound a day, 1 gram of protein per pound and to lift very heavy weights. She'll gain muscle and curves and look and feel better.

Please tell me this was a joke post.
 
A naturally skinny person will never be fat, just as an endomorph will never become an ectomorph. SHe will gain fat, and lose it right off. SHe has to gain muscle, that she can keep, and it looks much better than bones. Fat is a temp solution, but with her metabolism dont count on having it there for too long.
 
yeah hes right....... skinny people will hardly ever be able to keep it on, just like fat people cant keep it off.......... heres my recomendation:

eat a large bowl of ice cream and large glass of milk immediatly before betime.........

guaranteed to do the trick
 
No, it's not a joke. She wants to gain fat.... not muscle. She doesn't have any interest in training either, and she probably won't do it no matter what I say.

Clearly she's an ectomorph.... she's always been like that and she hates being skinny. She just wants to be curvier and chubbier, but she doesn't want to become bulky with muscle, or have to work out for it. She just wants to be fatter.

Should she eat more or less frequently? I kinda assumed the opposite of dieting principles would apply.... so maybe eating bigger meals, less frequently will slow the metabolism? And obviously we'd want these meals to be high in carbohydrates and fat, yeah?

Only problem is she just doesn't have a big appetite. She can't eat much, and if she pushes herself, she gets nauseous. So, I'm not sure what to do.

Ice cream with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and nuts on top...every night before bed. She'll be a porker in no time.
 
I often wonder if the type of food kind of effect how one stores fat.

I.g. Eating alot of calories in general has a more even fat distribution on the body where as eating sugar tends to give the skinny arms pot belly kind of effect.

I mean I know its genetics but I wonder if that by what means the fat is gained can assure that it is distributed more evenly at least influence it a bit.

in which case Eat your peanut butter many many cals very very fast SOOOOoooooooooo GOoooooooood in Icecream. when I indulge I like a nice 50/50 split of peanut butter to icecream ration on revery spoon full you end up eating a fuckload of it. But the 5Ib tubs I can kill one in around 5 days when I bulk (I'm which ever is the skinny one. I don't put the fat on easily but I can manage to w/ my mass peanutbutter consumtion) Too bad that means I need to cut later and be strict oh well doesn't take to long to cut. Enjoy eating.
 
Lots of french cruellers, glazed buttermilk donuts, Ben & Jerry's, egg foo yong, pork fried rice, Monte Cristos, Fried cheescake, fried mushrooms w/ranch or blue chz, granola w/ heavy cream, Beer as beverage.....ecto, endo, whatever.....noone can eat a steady diet of this shit without gaining fat.

Watch out for those pesky heartattacks.

No magical, easy, fast way to gain fat? I thought it would be easier than this.... I personally have no problem gaining fat. In fact, it's a little TOO easy for me. But this is my wife we're talking about, not me.

The thing is, she's been eating donuts and icecream and McDonalds and pizza, usually before bed, for a while now.... and she's not gained any weight at all.

There must be SOMETHING we can do.
 
If you want to change your body and improve it you have to work for it, try and explain this to her. For example theres no magical pill to make a fat person skinny nither can a guy just take steriods and expect to get big and ripped. If your wife wants to fill out and enhance her curves she should get in da gym!:)

I have never read anything so retarded.. no offense bro.. Haha this is just crazy to me! Why would your wife want to get fat? Thats insane... I have never heard of a girl wanting to get fat but whatever floats your boat I guess. No offense bro I am just confused thats all. I would suggest doing AS LITTLE physical activity as possible and eating sugary fatty foods like ice cream, donuts, chips, cookies, fast foods, etc.
 
your wife being a skinny woman that has never trained probably has the little portions attitude. She eats big macs, but just one - or not even a whole one. Make her eat high cal foods VARIOUS times throughout the day. Is she thirsty? well, then have a pbj sandwich.
make her constantly eat. she obviously has a very fast metabolism. instead of water, drink milkshakes.

soon she will gain some fat. but she has to eat multiple times a day, and remain rather inactive - and bulk up especially before bed.

She does eat very small amounts, but it's not deliberate. Maybe she just has a small stomach or something, but even when she's most hunrgy, she usually can't finish a McDonalds combo #6. She gets nauseous if she pushes herself to eat more than she's capable of.

I guess we should just gradually increase portion sizes and maybe she'll be able to handle eating more over time.

Unfortunately, thats just the way it is and there's nothing that she'll be able to do about it. However, as a precautionary measure. you might want to consider weeding out any Thyroid issues even though its probably unlikely, but ya never know.

An appt with an Endocrinologits will be able to tell for sure or by simply drawing blood you'll be able to check the thyroid - Low numbers mean hyper thyroid (which would be her case if there was a thyroid issue), high numbers mean hypo-thyroid. Good luck.

I've been reading this post and I can see why you think some of the member are asshole from thier replys. But this is a diet board on how to lose weight and it's just funny that some one wants to gain weight.

But the more i read this post, the more i see why your wife would want to gain weight and not build muscle.
Why wouldn't people who are skinny all thier lives want to put on some weight, people who are over weight want to lose weight so they can look better and feel better about themself.

I see people who are health and in good shape look at fat people and call them pigs and look at skinny people and call them sick. Fat people call people in good shape with muscle gear heads and so on.

If your wife want to put on weight to make her breast look a little bigger or for her butt to look a little bigger that's cool. But all of us have to workout to stay health and in good shape even if we are trying to lose weight or gain it.

So good luck to your wife:)

She won't wgain weight in just one place. She can get a curvier butt by exercise. Even if she's very, very skinny, some exercise with high cals will give her a fleshier look, without the health problems. Get her to post on the Women's Board.
 
I showed my wife this message and she cannot understand some women wanting to gain weight when she has tryed for years to lose it.
Thinking about what she said i dont understand woman fullstop so we aqree on something not bad considering we have been married for 6 years.Tell her to eat icecream,peanut butter etc:think:
 
Liquid meals might be worth a try, especially high fat ones. Folks on bulking diets use these a lot becasue they don't feel as filling as a solid meal. Stuff like milk shakes or fruit smoothies with lots of cream in them. She might also try more starchy foods like mashed potatoes, lasagna or other pasta dishes, fried rice etc...cut down on her meat intake. Does she do any exercise?? It may sound counterintuitive, but exercise is a great appetite stimulant and it sounds like her appetite could use some stimulation. The beauty of using exercise to stimulate appetite is that she may also gain some nice musculature so that she'll have some frimness to her new curves.

Most replies say pretty much the same thing.... eat peanut butter and icecream, and if that doesn't work, nothing will. But she already has been eating that stuff and it hasn't worked.

So, I'm helping her through some exercises we can just do at home. She doesn't want to go to the gym, so I've come up with a few basic movements we can do using our own bodyweight, and two plastic bags full of pennies. :D

As for those who don't understand her wanting to gain fat.... I guess none of you have been skinny. In my opinion, she's not skinny.... she looks perfectly normal to me, just slim and slender. But my opinion doesn't count when we're talking about her self-esteem. She thinks she's skinny and she hates it. She just wants her arms and legs to be a bit thicker etc.... and while she doesn't want to be obese or even overweight, she just wants to gain a little more padding. Just like fat people want to lose fat because they think it's unattractive, she wants to gain some because she thinks being skinny is unattractive.

Having said that, what are some good exercises you can do at home without any equipment? I've got her doing pushups, dips, squats, lunges, leg extensions and leg curls (with an ankle weight), calf raises, dumbbell presses (with our makeshift dumbbells), lateral raises and some biceps exercises with the dumbbell money-bags. Obvsiously we don't do all of these at once, but break it up over two or three days. I can't seem to find a good exercise for back. I think next time I'll get her to do flyes as well.

Hopefully this will give her appetite a bit of a boost, and she can gain some muscle and/or fat.

That's a good start my friend here is one for the back.

Get 2 towels and both of you sit on the floor and put your feet together and spead your legs. Put a towel in each hand and pull the towels towards you and make sure your elbows come all the way to your sides. Then she pulls them back to her side, make sure you make it alittle hard for her but not to hard to start with.

First off, eating crappy foods like doughnuts and cake and cookies is not a good idea. You will just make her unhealthy, even if she looks fit. Just because you are thin doesn't mean your body is healthy on the inside. She just needs to go to the gym, up her caloric intake by 1 or 2 hundred each day and live with her body the way it is now, healthy. It's the same as a fat person starving themselves to be thin.

damn i'd rather go on a cutting diet than a pasta cheese and donut diet.

the biggest issue here is making her eat MORE. She can eat all the fattening stuff out there, but if she only takes one soft mindless bite it won't do shit for her. Bulking doesn't necessarily mean high volume. Try foods with dense cals (but also try to slip in at least SOME nutrition to avoid getting stomach churns)

- Milkshakes (doesn't deprive your lady of calcium, plus the added cals will be EASY to slip in.

- Those 1000cals a serving weightgainers can work as well, especially before bed when she will be most inactive. Do her a favor and walk the dog and take out the trash and let HER control the tv remote . (OK, maybe the remote control is too much :D

- No chicken or tuna or lean meats. She will fill up on little cals. Eat breaded and deep fried red meats/dark meats. Duck, beef, kfc.

- This will put strain on her heart in the long run, so don't make this a cycle. She will get skinny again, drill that into her mind. Perhaps she wants to feel fat for once in her life. Try it. But dont make it a habit.

if she wants to change her shape, she will have to start pumpin (weights) not pumpin you. Pumpin you will expend too many cals considering she can't gain weight on a big mac diet. Seriously, skinny people do not get fat. They will lose it right off. If she wants to change, lift weights. that can be permanent. And no, once she stops, it will not "all turn into fat." That's the biggest fallacy for women. And even if it did, she would lose it right off! Nothing to lose here bro

Treat her like the kids in hantzel and gretel (sp). Treat her like pigs and stuff her piehole with food. She will get only temporary satisfaction. Not worht it IMO, but go for it, she seems to have made up her mind.
