Ok guys need your help on this one. I'll probably go to NY this summer with my GF. Now I wanna where are the good clubs and after-hours. CLubs: I usually prefer party places ( I mean where they play a bit of everything, but I dont mind trying one of those house clubs), as for the after-hours as long as its cool Also, how much to party in NY. Here in Montreal cover is usually around 5$, drinks 4$, beer 3$ and after-hours 15$, what about there ??? Thanks

Well just to give you an example, I went to the Sound Factory like 3 weeks ago. It was $40 to get in, $11 for Red Bull and Vodka, and $5 for a tiny bottle of water. It was a theme night, so take off maybe $10 for the cover. A bit different than Montreal.

Well I'm 23 but I dont necessarly want those stupid shirtless kids or ghetto hommies. I mean I like hip-hop, R'"n'B as well as house, so thats why I'm looking for some kind of normal people. As for after-hours I dont care as long as its a cool place, it's only place where I can accept the shirtless show-off.

I'll probably stay there for 4-5 days, dunno yet.

Well Im not a crackhead, Im not a kid, Im alot bigger than 185 lbs and I do not take my shirt off in clubs. I had a fun time in the Factory, it was only my 3rd time there, and I have to say I was impressed. Depends what your looking for, Factory is much bigger than Saci, or 151. Watch out for 151, guy got stabbed there last weekend and someone got shot a few weeks back. Its a cool place, I like it better than Saci, Saci is too small. I though Float was horrible, waste of a cover charge. Spa is kinda cool, way overpacked, but lots of good looking girls. Have Fun!

yo manny, i would say try any place that NY muscle says, but definately hit up the Sound Factory on Saturday night...get in line by 2:30 am otherwise you'll be in line 4 ever. best after hours i've ever been to besides club rubber on the west coast...good luck dude

SF is the place to be after hours. Theres no other club around that has a party like SF. Stop in at 10 am, and its still bangin in there, packed too.

To go out during the week I would say Float on Fridays is good, ive seen lots of tourists there. I've also been to and heard good things about Shine. Shine is a lil bit more casual than Float. It's a little loungy, clubby place where Cleaveland, (who used to spin downstairs on Saturdays at sf) w/a mix of all kinds of music spins... he has a great energy and blends lots of music together for everyone. He doesnt spin at factory sats anymore because he's moved onto the mainfloor on friday nights now, if you wanted to go there to hear him the system is amazing... and he always has a variety of people w/different styles there...
and if you really wanna hear the system to it's full capacity, this leads me to Jonathan Peters at Factory on Saturday/Sunday.

If I were you, I would go at about 6am. It's a good thing youll be there when it's not a theme night, because you will have room to dance and have fun. I know some people get annoyed at the people who rant and rave about factory, but the truth is... what other Saturday night party in NYC has lasted so long? It's been over 10 years now. I know this party will definitely go down in history. Dont you wanna be able to tell you're kids you went there?? hahaha ok maybe not. But it's still a great experience and there's no place on earth like it.

no comment on the SF bashing. you can diss the crowd its part of the scene there. SF is probably one of the most influental clubs in this area. Its the longest running club and the with the longest resident dj Jonathan Peters so that's gotta say something... but if you wanna keep shitting on it that's fine. Peace

i started clubbing at like 15..there used to be this little place called "Images" in the Barn Mall, upstate un Brewster...right down the road from Streets North which was Miami heat or some shit before that and of course before that the name was POLOs.
our parentd would drop us off like 7pm and it closed at 11pm..i used to see judy tores, george lamond, pajama party...all the good groups when they were really popular.

Right on bro. Was such a better time back then. Some of the most beautiful chicks use to roll in there. Very down to earth as well. The club has gotten too commercial. I like the old downstairs better with the old sex room. I miss those days; in fact, I don't really like Factory much anymore. Not the same vibe...I miss the days of walking downstairs and hearing the dj spinning, "If you don't know me why do judge my life..."

when was the last time you heard PARIS tell someone not tonight but EXIT is open? i havent been to sf in a year & a 1/2 but i didnt miss a friday (when that was the night and tunnell was saturdays) then til 2000 i must of been there at least 45 weekends out of 52 a year. i danced there for 6 months back in 97(fun fun fun). we *OWNED* upstairs by the steps for years. nothing was sold there without us knowing. my friends still go and hang straight ahead when you come in by the stairs and couches. i miss going there just because i miss the times i had there. i stopped going because alot of my sf family has moved on to careers & lives without drugs(you got to grow up sometime). so of course you have new faces because you cant party forever. i still get bootleg jp cd's from my friends. so to me the music is still good but is new. all i have to say is that if your in the ny area & want to go clubbing on saturday night theres nothing in the usa like sf. i heard people talk about float & other cheesey places. there fun for about a hr but there not a club there a lounge. if you want to dance you MUST go to SOUND FACTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sf saturday parties have only been going on for 5 years it was on fridays when they re-opened in 97. also if there is 20-30 trannies out of 3,000 people your noticing then your hanging with the wrong crowd. sf if a awesome place because you have many different types of crews(cliques) there. also i remember when the speaker caught on fire(lol). one of my favorite nights there was when the 1st carnival party when they had the big dragon going through the dance floor. sf isnt for everyone thats why thay have float.

The fact that the dance floor and entire club is packed presently is NOT cuz of the music and what went on in 1997, it's because it is still good NOW. I started going in 4 years ago, and i feel like it was great back then, and in many ways it was better in certain ways... You think the party sucks now, but it's not that it sux...its just different then it was back in the day. It's different because it's a new generation. Just because he's not playin the same songs you associate memories w/doesnt mean the tracks he's playin now arent makin memories for people now.
It's just like people who are stuck in the 80's from hs... they think the best times were then, but that's just because they dont want to change... and they wanna live like they lived when they were younger. But styles change, and that doesnt mean the present styles suck.. just cuz u cant relate... it just means YOU'RE GETTING OLD!

i just like quality dance music, thats all. JP used to play about 6 hrs worth of amazing imports. We used to share the techno section of the old satellite records every saturday afternoon. He now plays alot of cheese. I personally will not pay to go hear that.

If some people like that,. good for them. If they have fun there now, good for them. Great that people can enjoy themselves and keep it going.

However, in my opinion, you cant promote SF by saying "its been around for 10 years so you have to go!!!"

You're right about that. You cant just say it's been around for 10 years so that's the reason you should go... but what i meant when i said that, was that SF is something that people will be looking back upon when it finally does die... whenever that happens.
So i was just sayin he should just go experience it for himself.

I think the reason why he doesnt spin so many imports anymore is cuz he's doin lots of his own productions and stuff... that's the stuff i like to hear, cuz there's no place to hear his remixes or productions like his.. he definitely has a hard, aggressive style that is one of a kind...

I love the music there. Lately its even been better I think actually. And I bet it will even get better during the winter when SF is at its best.

The venue is a good size and has something for everyone no matter what mood you are in, chill or you want to dance. As oppose to vinyl which has great music by Tenaglia but the club is for more "hardcore" clubbers. And to tell you the truth I'm just not into that lounge scene yet. Factory is still the best club around imo.

Richard puts the money back into the club with the renivations and new system. The music is new and I like it. I like the old music as well, but I can appreciate the new music. In fact, I like that one new song called "gay or straight" I think thats what it is called. Some queen is saying "does that mean that I am gay" and then the beat drops. Sick fuckin song. The only big change is that there are not as many hot girls rolling through like in 97,98,99. This is the only big change negatively in my eyes.

ive been to Sona in montreal , and it doesnt even come close to SF,the music spinned at sona doesnt even come close to JP, but i like how they pick people out the crowd to come into the club, i was pretty happy when the guy chose my group when we just walked up to the line, us american clubbers stuck out like a sore thumb in CANADA

Personally I like SF better in the colder months. Now a lot of the good looking crew is spread thin. A lot of the girls frequent the Hamptons and Jersey Shore on weekends. However, SF is still slammin. Personally my favorite night is at the end of October - the Halloween Party.
