I mean, who would name their child, Gay(e)? Think about it. I knew a girl named Gaye in HS and i have come across others with this name.

*if you are gay or your name is Gay(s), then no offense.

It's an old fashioned name (those usually come down in the family, usually connected to the thought "oooo, name the baby after Great Aunt Gaye, she's got a pile under that mattress of hers"). Names are like anything else, they come in and out of fashion. This year so far I have typed reports for people named: Mildred, Gigi, Lance, Roxy, Bertha, Felix, Laurent, Horst, Beatrice, Winifred and Lucretia. All of them Caucasions and born in this country.

I was saddled with one of those "family names" and it really sucks when the only time you run into someone with the same first name as you they're already collecting Social Security.

I knew a Gay Holliday...popular and hot.

Chris, we are not naming our baby Gaye

Gayby

what about Genevieve? Did you leave that one off because that is the one you were saddled with? :)

Believe me, Genevieve would be an ENORMOUS improvement over what I was named. Look at the nicknames you get out of it, Jen, Jenny, Viv or Vie.

I would prefer to keep my privacy, so I will say this much: I was given one of those names that is a blatently feminized version of a male name and it was more popular a name in the mid 1800s (but still never #1)

Oh, and speaking of names, I found a cool Soc. Sec. site about popularity of baby names, it gives information about what percentage of babies were named a name by year (well, from 1879 forward): Popular baby names

There are more than a few girls named Genevieve around here.
Not that strange.

ah I think I can guess it, but will not post it here to respect your privacy. If I am right, the abbreviated version of it is not really any better than the full name either. Well just know tht I feel for you.

A***** is not in the top 1000 names for any year of birth in the last 10 years.
Please enter another name.

LOL
But really, whats in a name. It's a global society, and I meet people every day with names like Ying, Perminder, Fatima, Marie-Pierre, Bronwyn, Annunciata, Svetlana, Keiko, and Siobhan.
No big deal.

Trex - you are putting words in my mouth to get the Genevieves of EF to hait on me... I did not say that name was "strange". :)

LOL.
Ok, revised:
Lots of girls saddled with the name Genevieve here.
What?
:)

Disclaimer:
pbhardbody is a great guy, and no one should hate on him- ever.
