Hi guys.

I just wanted to know- Is it bad for your body to go from weight training 5 x a week, to scaling it down to weight training 3 x a week ?

Or is it a good idea, to give your muscles a really good shock ?

I'm Curious ??

Thanks. ;)

Any activities are not "bad" for your muscles. There are a million ways to shock them. The most important thing is to keep changing up your training when you've become accustomed to whatever you have been doing for awhile. Sometimes its good to back off from training a little if you've been going hard. Sometimes its good to switch up your split. You can introduce new cycles into your schedule, i.e. 2 muscle groups / day, but do one group heavy, the other light, then the following week do the first group light, the second heavy. Sometimes you have to make a change to accommodate a change in your life schedule (work, other obligations) or even throw in some class-type training, e.g. spinning, kick-boxing, whatever.

If you need a break or cut back in the training, take it. Then when you are ready for another change, kick it back up. Whatever. :)

The point I'm generally trying to make is that the shape you are in & the product of your fitness work (diet & training) is just a slice in time. You are always changing. The only time that any particular change might "hurt you" is if you have a specific date that you need to look a certain way, e.g. a competition, photo shoot, friend's wedding, your wedding, whatever.

Otherwise, things are always changing. Any program or status of lifestyle that doesn't change over time will eventually stagnate, so it is totally healthy to change up what you do or even take some time off. Because, unless you've developed a love for chocolate donuts during your down time, you will most certainly hit the training / dietign/ whatever back with a renewed energy - both in a new focus mentally, but also your body WANTS to be exercised and run as it was intended to run!

I agree totally. It seems like i have to change my routine like every 6 weeks to keep my moral up and to be energized. I have about 2.5 more weeks on the program i'm currently on, then I'm moving to shadows project. His is a lot more detailed, so I figured he can take me that one extra step further.(or five)
